First and foremost, it was not Kwame's fault that he got drafted as the first pick. That was MJ. Second, the NBA and the corresponding media have done great jobs in the past heaving pressure on young players who were drafted high. Some were just not meant to be stars. Not their fault alone, it's just that people love to lift you in the air as a star and if you fuck up, you're the ultimate failure and scapegoat. Kwame's a solid defender, shotblocker and rebounder, like a Tony Battie. A backup.

As a Laker fan, I still expect Kwame to be fine in Detroit. Some guys in LA forget that Kwame was very serviceable when he was healthy and a reliable post defender. I've given up on him ever realizing all that scary potential he still has, but his size and athleticism will complement the Pistons well especially on the defensive end.
