Elliott and Dylan have completely different styles of phrasing as well as singing. If this sounds anything like Dylan, it's because Elliott was Dylan's mentor when Woody Guthrie was bedridden, so Dylan obviously absorbed portions of Elliott's style.
Love your cat. I have cats too and I cannot stop taking pics of them in the weirdest positions and then show them to mum and smile at how cute our cats are LOL. cheers form Italy
@barrybuttery This is ramblin jack, no doubt about it. No amount of ridicule or denial you may have to this truth will change this truth. Enjoy the damn music man.
@briankofke Indeed it is. Sorry for the mistake; we can BOTH agree that this is a Dylan tune covered by Ramblin Jack. It blows my mind that someone would argue about this! Sorry for the mistake; just a wrong click on my keyboard.
@briankofke man i hung out wiyh ramblin i was his security/ body guard along with arlo and dylan now arlo guthrie and dylan sound alike but ramblin showed up at the kate wolf memorial festival in laytonvile ca in a red barron by plane awseome this plain lands in the middle of 35 40,000 people setting up tents gets out with his cane and says where my guy outback i said right hear sir funny as hell he say sir that guys dead my dad lets get high
@outbackslippy That is an awesome story. I play as much Ramblin Jack as I can. If you do not mind, I would love to use this strory at one of my gigs. Is that OK? And feel free to share some more; I will keep them alive.
Alan Lomax once said of Jack Elliot, " He is the folksinger's folksinger" No truer words were ever spoken. The song was written by Bob Dylan in 1962 or 63. Rambling Jack has probably done it 8,000 times, of which, no two versions were the same. Hey, is that a small cat or what?
Been listten to this man since 1959 or 60. After a concert I told him that I'd been hearing him all these years. He told me to get my ears examined. He has been my guitar inspiration all these years.
It is a Dylan original. But I discovered Ramblin Jack long before Dylan. I was in Jr. H.S. His tune that inspired me to get my 1st guitar was "Railroad Bill". ANyway, for my money, this is the best version of "dont think twice".
In an interview one time a reporter told Jack he sounded alot like Bob Dylan and Jack replied "well I've sounded like bob dylan for about 20 years now - and I think Bob's about 22 years old now, I'll let you do the math and the figurin....."
I was driving up california 1 this summer in Big Sur and stopped at the Henry Miller library. They had a sign up that Jack would be performing in late Sept. What a great setting for the great Ramblin Jack, but I had to go back to N.Y. I guess Jack is a regular in Big Sur. The guy is as good as anyone needs to be.
What Album is this on? I've been looking for ages but I can't find it. I've also heard this cover as the intro to the song "Connection" do you know where I could find that?
i like 1:23 (donovan album)

this is dylan, i got the 3 disc "best of dylan" from 2007. this is a bob dylan orginal. exactly the same as the disc.
maybe you should listen more to bob dylan, and then compare to jack elliot. then you'll see.

I came for the song, but fell in love with the calico. She's very unique-- Rarely do you see that much white and so little of the black and tabby.
Cheers.

Its a really pretty version, but it sounds like he goes totally off rhythm at certain points. I guess its just his style.
