the best NCAA carry iHave ever seen was Jonathan Fortenberry at the 2002 outdoor championships.. Justin Gatlin had an excellent carry as well.. going from iBelieve 7th to 2nd on his leg
Baylor runners are so disciplined, always staying with the pack (or getting back into it) through 200 meters then eating everyone up the last half of the race. Williamson is the quintessential Baylor runner here. It's amazing how patient he was in this race.
Arizona State lost because Domenik Peterson ran his traditional dumb leg. AZ State probably should have won at least two NCAA 4x400m titles, but Peterson's dumb legs kept screwing them over. If he hadn't started out like such an idiot here, his team would have won. If he didn't drop the baton outdoors in 2004, his team almost certainly would have won.
LSU can partially thank him for their NCAA record in 05 though. Peterson got out like a moron and basically paced Brazell to a great leg.
@sequoits1 I always wondered who that guy was for ASU. A light-skinned black or possibly Caucasian dude who runs the first 200m in like 20 seconds flat right? I saw him blaze to the lead for ASU in the Pac-10 mile relay one year and the Sun Devils held on, but ever since then I've always seen him get caught in the last 100 meters or so. He's a great runner, but I often wondered if this was just his usual fare: blaze and fade. (He's still better than me!)
His anchor at IAAF World Cup 2006 4 x 400m Relay was just about the same thing. Way back in 3rd and came out of nowhere to win. He is unbelievable. Can't imagine what the other anchors were thinkin when they see him.
that was the best anchor leg i've seen, but it was not the best leg i've seen. i think number one goes to jeremy wariner at the 2004 ncaa outdoor championships. he comes from twice the distance behind, and then kicks like a mule in the home stretch. he was running 3rd though.
hahah really man thats crazy I run Track and field And i kinda faced somebody like that lol his name is SEAN HOLSTON that boy is just as fast as him I never ran against him but i wanted to so bad.
sic em!
