i think is probably more likely that it was written in octaves the chords.

whatev.. this isn't worth arguing over.. Sorry If I came off a bit harsh. If you actually wrote your own songs you would know that octaves are to be used as highlights of the chord progression, but you will learn that with time. You played the secondary part very well.
