  • i hate the way he phrases all the lyrics cuz he cant do it like he did on the album. so annoying.

  • Real music

  • Less guitar monitor please. Can't hear anything but that..

  • He goes to the desert, fires his rifle in the sky

And says, "God if I have to die you will have to die"

I love the lyrics of this song.

  • hey i'm bidding on a life of arctic sounds single from you!

  • Who cares what drugs Isaac did? Check out my band's cover of Cowboy Dan, it's not the same just to let you know.

  • ehh.... you can only really write songs on pain killers, pot, or liquor

anythin else won't be so productive haha

    :P

  • @JosephMBoyer pain killers make every lyric weigh ten times heavier

  • Touche

  • Thanks for the history lesson Isaac Brock's drug use. It totally matters.

  • He was really skinny back then

  • classic performance right here. They sure don't play quite like this anymore.

  • I guess you haven't seen them.

  • @mabryzealand I beg to differ, they play differently for sure but so do all great bands over time, saw them in july of this year and they were fucking fantastic

  • thanks so much for posting this by the way

love the hit someone blows out at 4:05

  • the black cat is the sickest club in DC

  • So whats up with him and his habits now? Is he still drunk on-stage alot?

  • No he doesn't do that stuff before a show, just after.

  • Nah I'm pretty sure he still has a few beers or something before shows, but he doesn't get drunk before them atleast.

  • yeah i remember reading some interview where he says the perfect number of beers to drink before a show is 4 and he said he used to get shit faced and play terribly live

  • I saw them in portland after the release of "by the time...." came out and he was trashed. Great show all the same, but there was no disguising the fact that he had gotten a little too much in his drink.

  • hes dropped acid too, just read the lyrics to the good time are killing me

  • his yell is so fuckigfsndfiodnindvidsvhdsvihbvn ...

  • Modest Mouse was great back in the day. I think they were in their prime in studio back in 97, live in 2001, and I think that 2009 is damn close as far as live performance goes.

  • yeah he gained alot of weight when he stopped using coke so much

  • probably true

i think that a lot of good bands use a lot of drugs

but i think this guy was using herion

    good thing he didn't die

  • he's done meth, coke, herion, speed, alcohol, and a number of other ones probably.

  • I read a shit ton of interviews and sometimes he would talk about his drug habits. ya jerk.

  • if you really knew anything about isaac brock you'd know he hates people that assume things about him. so dont act like you know anything about him unless youve talked face to face with him.

  • There's this thing called "journalism." And "interviews."

  • the smoke at 4:06 is cool

  • remember when they could play this song without meatheads moshing and beating their chests trying to impress the girl they would date rape later that night?

  • I'd still consider him pretty fit here, it seems he only gained weight as of the past few years.

  • I am glad I found this.

  • amazing

  • A great version of my favorite Modest Mouse song.

  • Very much agreed. I especially love what sounds like ocean breezes to me that start at 3:38

  • Oh, you're right! That's a very haunting sort of sound, along with that ringing guitar. Gives me chills.

  • It doesn't sound anything like ocean breathes dude, although it does sound shit awesome!

I do love this song though

  • isaac look sbit like eliott smith here

  • the delay he uses in the breakdown (before the "standing in the tall grass" part) really makes the song.

  • Holy Jesus Isaac looks so young!

I saw them on Monday and he looks pretty beat after ten plus years of touring.

But they were still amazing and he's still my favorite person in the universe. (:

  • Wow dudes put on some celeb weight since this eh? :)

  • I don't know about celeb weight, probably just age weight, drug weight, alcohol weight. He loves cooking so he probably eats a lot, give him a break.

  • I'm pretty sure it gained when he stopped doing coke all of the time.

  • @ TheTrapezeSwinger13

    Brock cooks? lol that's awesome!

  • I wish it was just the 3 of them again. I hope thy get back togather some day

  • I thought Jeremiah left when Good News came out? i could be wrong. Wikipedia is confusing. I dont like their new stuff more than their older stuff but i still like it. the lyrics are more powerful and more in an "in your face" type of sound. for example. March into the sea, parting of the sensory. and others

  • he left temporarily because he had a nervous breakdown. i agree with you on the old stuff being better, but with this lineup songs like teeth like gods shoeshine truckers atlas etc. sound enormous, if you can check them out live these days their better then ever

  • @dudesons441 They're all 3 still together.

  • the 1 lady in the background is distracting

  • Yeah they way she shakes is just... ugh *shudders*

  • great song. great band. Thanks for the upload!
