@tinylittlebear Or by 235 people with the same music taste as you, and one who doesn't.. Can't quite see how that makes them a dickhead, incredible as Cohen may be..
The Chelsea Hotel. Wish I was there then! Neighbors included Patti Smith and Robert Maplethorn, Allen Ginsberg, Bob Dylan, Edie Sedgwick, Joni Mitchell, Jimi Hendrix and more more more of everything!!!
@selfhelp4yournerves I know, can you even imagine? That would have been magical. There's a documentary called Festival Express, which focuses on a tour with Janis and the Dead, Buddy Guy, and others. It's really cool to see footage of these brilliant musicians hanging out, strumming guitar, talking, whatever. It's a must see for music lovers. I'm more of a rocker than a hippie, but it was still very good.

One of the great things about Cohen is that he can sing his old songs with such intensity after doing them for so many years. Really, this performance just burns....
When I first heard the song, I couldn't stop the tears. I wanted to thank him with my whole heart for speaking so beautifuly the words I could never seems to find and put together. I listened to it after I had to go separate ways, with someone whom I loved dearly. The song's story and emotion struck me, it was just so close to my heart. Maybe he'll read this. Leonard or Him, who has gone his way.
Thank you. That is all I can say. Thank you for being my candle in the darkest tunnel.
To all you little teeny boppers commenting on this song who are trying to make a comparison to anyone on American Idol, children, you know nothing of what you speak. We....the generation that spawned the likes of Leonard Cohen, Janis Joplin, Jimi Hendrix, Bob Dylan, Joan Baez, and all the rest....began a true revolution in the world of music. Our music went beyond just a voice, a melody, and a few words. Listen and learn.
@bloommingrose Yes she is a singer. She is kind of like Crystal on American Idol. Crystal is ok, but I think Aaron is the best. I still think this guy is better than Nick. But I respect your opinion.
4 years ago I've been at The Chelsea Hotel but I couldn't ride the elevator, anyway I spent a week in NY and met this woman, we became lover... and Leonard is responsible for this...
The msot beautiful, deep and poignant rendition of this song I've ever headr Leonard do. I've seen him live several times back in the day, Wish I could catch him on his current tour. His career spans what, 5 decades now. I'm the product of that affair in the Chelsea Hotel. Just kidding, but that's my own personal urban legend. In my soul I feel he's my papa and she's my mama.
RIP sweet Janis, and Leonard don't leave us anytime soon!
This piece of video is taken from a long documentary. I think its called I'm your man and was done by the BBC to coincide with the launch of the album. I am trying to get a copy of the documentary. Anybody got any ideas?
