I'm curious what you yourself find synthetic sample/synth instrument libraries useful for, considering you have no trouble making your own patches from scratch.
David Earl ..... wow! I mean what can i say, you're an amazing dude. Can't thank you enough bud. you're tutorials have helped ALOT!! .. i know you barely have enough time to play metroid but you choose take the time to help us out anyways... I BOW TO THEE...
Just wanted to leave you some props. These videos are an invaluable resource for someone just getting up to speed with MIDI controllers and Logic itself. Kudos!

Thank you so much virtual Logic Sensei! I recorded midi drums and midi guitar jams for the first time. Also, using key range is making my Axon Ax-100 and Logic experience completely seamless. Thanks again from New York!
i have been wondering this for so long!! lol i knew u could do it but didnt know how... thanx a ton man!
NEXT VIDEO IDEA... what is the easiest way to export all tracks as seperate audio files with all the inserts and send effects on the track... i know about the export all tracks as audio feature but it seems like it doesnt keep the sends or inserts on the audio
This guy is really like a ninja, you see him only once, then he's gone! Seriously though this guy is a freakin' logic god. If I ever had the money San Fran is where I would be!
I love ur stuff. I taught logic last year at a fine arts school in Dallas. Wish I had come across your videos last August. Would have saved me a ton of time. Thanks for all you do.
should be quick and easy: How do you take a large swathe of selected instruments (say, 8 MIDI instruments) and put them in record mode at the same time? I'm sick of clicking 8 times to get every instrument in record mode and then one mis-click can kill them all.
@EisenFeuer Use groups. Click and hold just above where the instrument is, and you can choose a group. You can set the group to only record enable if you like. This means anything assigned to that group will record enable as well. *bows*
@SFLogicNinja why thankya partner. Now if only you could come over to figure out why the cymbals on my drumset (Channel 2, Alesis Trigger iO) are playing piano notes (Channel 1, Axiom49), but not the toms or snare (properly playing drums on my Ch2-only instrument)... I know. super weird.
I need to know something. I just got an axiom 45. And with it came Ableton live. Which has been flawless for the last couple weeks since I installed it. But I am very limited by the sounds. In logic I can alter every parameter of a sound, but I can not in Ableton. I know Logic isn't designed to be used live, but Do you think it would be stable enough? Let's say that I do actually plan on playing shows and I would need it to never ever mess up. Also assuming I couldn't possibly get Mainstage.
@grayskyguitar I've used Logic live many, many times. You have to be smart about it, though. Always keep an eye on how much cpu and ram you are using in a given session. Use an external firewire 800 drive that runs at least 7200rpm. Have a good balance between audio and virtual instruments. Oh, and Mainstage comes with Logic Studio, so you should be good there! *bows* (I'll do a Mainstage video later)
Hey SFLN, hope you enjoyed that steak haha. I have a question: In your example, you recorded actual midi input from a keyboard and there were 3 audio instruments listening to those notes. Can I do the same but telling these 3 instruments to listen to a fourth track with midi notes instead of hardware midi events? Is this the kind of stuff I have to route in and out on the Environment window?
@devixdesign be on the lookout for a mind-melting upcoming video that shows how to route back and forth between the Environment and Arrange. I think this'll address your question... *bows*
