Doniphon wasn't the one who killed liberty valance, it was stewart's character stoddard. If Donophon shot him he would have fell back and to the right instead liberty fell back thus it was stewart who killed liberty. The physics doesn't make sense, It's a CONSPIRACY man!!!
@DonRach8992 I keep on replaying the 2:00 mark and I'm pretty sure Stewart's character shot liberty. Why the hell would Liberty fall backwards if he was shot to the side. You got my JFK reference, lol. Great scene regardless of the faulty physics.
Wayne's Tom Doniphon may have killed Marvin's Liberty Valance in this film, but it was U.S. Brigadier General James Maitland Stewart who fought in World War II and was a decorated soldier. Whereas the Duke kept applying for deferments during WW II and never served. Also, Marvin was wounded during combat in Saipan during WW II.
He hung the murder weapon on Pompey!

@motorcycleman929 Nope. Look again. Jimmy Stewart aimed way too high. It had to be the Duke that got Liberty Valance!

Looks so ridicolous and they look like kindergarten fighters.
A very good satire about the wild west.
