hey you know if you want to run halo at a better framerate, try this:

use gamebooster

change your desktop background to none

dont show th desktop icons by right clicking on the desktop then highlight view or arrange icons by and click show desktop icons so its unchecked

make everything look like windows 98

run it in high or realtime priority by using task manager (recommend high, but, realtime is better in every way except the way it uses every part of you cpu)

For Halo click run while holding down control and it will boot in safe mode which is much faster than regular. Also, you can turn everything than is not disabled to max and res to 800x600 so it looks pretty much as good as regular maxed out.

hey if you want halo or another game to run better on that netbook i recomend using ccleaner, msconfig, the system mechanic trial, and running the game at a higher priority in task manager. i did that and run halo way better than i ever did

Video ram is the issue here, the GMA 950 has almost none (64 megabytes).

I currently have 1.5gb if ram and the results have not noticably changed :(

@spoken971 go to you're steam directory, look around for the cfg folder and put it in there, once you do that, start it up and go to options>controls>advanced>acti­vate developer console, I think that's right, and check it, go back and hit the ~ key, left of the 1 button, and type in exec [name of file], it'll seem that it freezes for a few seconds but it'll start going again, happy gaming!

By the way, don't go too dramatic if your game won't run and you're planning on getting an Aspire One, there are newer and stronger models being developed and released, I think the newest models now come with Windows 7.

BTW, do emulators run decent on your setup? Also does the cover scratch easily, and if its not too much trouble, what are the base/height measurements for your screen? I'm researching quite thoroughly so I won't regret it later.

@Aldaraia666 emulators run just fine, cover doesn't noticeably scratch easily; but the aspire one has some serious finger smudging issues all-round. The Acer One's dimensions are 249 x 170 x 29mm (9.8 x 6.7 x 1.14 inches)

Hell this is the perfect ultra-portable for me. HD quality, decent battery compared to my 2hour old one, and a small size without sacrificing comfort. I never use CDs anymore. If I wanted to install a game, I'd just rip the .iso on my desktop and transfer it via USB drive. Same goes for ripping music. I don't even need much power since I don't play those new fancy games like Crysis.

hmm, with halo, do u have to change the resolution, or will it work by one of the default ones? the 640 x 480 (or whatever) is probably ok for me, as its just a bit of fun on the run. are u using the original hardware on it? (is that 1,6ghz, 1gb ram?)

Should run solo questing and small dungeons just fine, but larger raids may cause stuttering and laggy performance.

go to the console.. if u have binded it, so that you can enter the console, then write net_graph 1 for example. theres some few different versions for it.. use "net_graph 1" "net_graph 2" or "net_graph 3" , and u will see urself wich one you like best.

1. He's not running too many programs at once, can't say what he has installed, but it only matters what's running at one time.

2. Every computer has a limit, a good user like this is nowhere near it (# of programs at once)

3. HDD space does NOT affect performance, though a HDD with less than 5% space available will have issues..

try watching the CS:S video again please.

it is pretty clear that CS:S runs at around 15 fps on a non textured map. DE_dust 2 runs much, much worse (around 9 fps).

HL2 would run with the same or more likely worse frame rates because both games are based upon the same sversion of source engine (2).

Actually, TF2's graphics are better than CS:S and Halo, even on the lowest level. I have yet to find a way to get TF2 to work on the Aspire One.

4.processor is the same, and I am running 1.5 gb of RAM for this video. 1gb versus 1.5 isn't a big difference, its mostly startup times, the "GPU" would allocate a similar amount of Vram between 1.5 and 1 gb.
