Yeah, if all you do is mash the pedal in a straight line you're fast. Lotsa driving talent there. Xbox live has a bunch of 'em. Now try to keep up with this old man through some twisties with your slushbox. Won't happen.
Put out the coin for a Challenger and get the auto and a sun roof? No muscle car should have these features. I'll take my '09 R/T with the 6 speed manual (borrowed from the Viper) any day. Thumbs down to Dodge for even offering the V6 or the auto tranny. I guess they're trying to sell to people that can't drive stick but this is SOOO wrong!
@puntacanaman1 ........duh. Every winner at the track is an auto. Has been for the last 40 years. I admit it is fun to bang the gears but you are losing precious tenths when you do that and you inevitably over-rev the engine to hear it and get it out of it's power band.....you "think" you're flying because you hear it screaming but it would be better to have shifted a 1/2 second ago..........don't go racing buddy against anybody except your little high school buddies that don't know squat.
I don't know what surprises me more; the fact that the driver does not use the the manual gear shift feature on this Mercedes-Benz sourced autoSTICK transmission, or that no one has mentioned that this car is equipped with it. Maybe no one here is familiar with it? It's fun as hell to run through the gears with it; upshifting AND downshifting. When you commute to work 70 mi/day in bumper-bumper traffic like I do, it's nice not to have to press a clutch a thousand times, which I did for years.
Damn I love the sound of that engine when you get on the gas IMO these are the sexiest modern muscle cars, maybe not the fastest... But definitely the sexiest
@alexisindian It actually kicks down into 4 cylenders and i think highway or something like that it gets like 20-24 MPG.....but saying that who the hell wants to 4 cylenders when you have a car like that cause most people dont actually dont use the eco system
i know people say that manuals take the fun out of it, and tbh if your racing round a circuit or actually going out to have fun in it then yes it does, but for the times when you really cant be arsed doing anything autos are brill and i like the feeling of endless acceleration without a pause in it which you dont get with manuals.
No matter what others say, this car makes a lot of sound to designate a true muscle car classification. Even the Mustang, and Camaro do not growl like this beast. Truth be told, the Mustang V6, and Camaro V6 are soft at times, and sound like other cars. Plus, the Challenger has lots of room, cool seating positions, nice exterior. In the end, it's not about racing, or speed, but pride, and class.
id get automatic too stick is mad annoying in traffic eventually need new tires tires aint cheap clutch replacements wouldnt be cheap but thats my opinion
The Challenger a sports car ? have you ever driven... for example, a lotus super 7, a Porsche 911 or an car weighting less than 4000 Pounds with some power ?.
Nevertheless, the Challi is a great car, but absolutely not sporty.
Usually, Automatic cars have a bigger consumption, but indeed, because of MDS, thats not an argument anymore.
In lived in L.A. and drove manual. It's not the gearbox-it's the driver. U know how or u do not know how to drive. Yes, i admit, sometimes is frustrating to press 1.000.000 times clutch per day:-) ... but still....manual is more fun !!!
I ordered the auto. I've been driving a manual for years, and it does get tiring. Ignore the wannabe race car drivers on the internet and go with practicality(automatic). It's just as fun minus the hassles.
i cant decide if i'd want this car with a manual tranny or take the automatic. i'd want the manual just because the better performance, but depending on how often i was driving it and where, i think i'd prefer the auto in the long run
Audio controls on the steering wheel is an option that you can order, it comes standard on the SRT8 but it's an option for R/T's. This being an R/T it just wasn't equipped with it, either the owner didn't order it that way or if it was a dealer ordered car they just didn't add that package. I've got it on my SRT and I've found it to be a good system to have, you can monitor oil & tire pressure, oil temp, it has a 0-60 & 1/4 mile timer, and alot of other cool stuff in there.
hahaha yeah that's what I meant, it would handle a lot better if they didn't build it on the charger platform probably, also I didn't realize just how heavy that thing is, it's over 2 tons, my car is like 3600-3700 lbs I think haha. Dad had so much fun with that car, he loved it :P too bad we sold it last wednesday :(
wow that thing sounds sweet although I kinda agree with the other people.....who gets a automatic challenger :P Awesome vid kyle, greatest quote from this vid: "And I didn't even have it floored" :D
the push start is just a piece of plastic over the ignition, I think they all can get it if they have this type of ignition switch if I'm not mistaken
nice, very nice car

Living in NYC, I would go for the automatic.
However, it's a sports car. Kind of takes the meaning out of sport cars' fun.

get the manual, they say its the r/t manual is the best choice out of all of them

thanks for the advice. it makes sense. seems like the best way to get all the performance out of that 5.7

with che "track pack" option you have a limited slip diff.. and It's standard on the SRT 6.1
