It's worth noting Testament have a 'greatest hits collection/best of'. What fucking hits did they have ?! Yet as stated Metallica with all their hits and record sales havent. Surely as per your arguments this must mean Testament are just in it for the money as much as Metallica. I mean, seriously incredible. I was first impressed with his melodic shredding on 'the legacy', but then I discovered he did even more stuff outside of Testament. Truly a versatile, well rounded, and accomplished musician. He puts Kirk Hammett to fucking shame.

Alex is such a well-rounded musician. He can hold his own in pretty much any style of music you throw at him. That combination tapping / thumb slapping lick at the end sounded interesting.

Every little kid knows who they are and their record company pushes them to create shit music to try and please their whole audience without actually playing for the good of music. If you play your music for fame and money, then you are playing for the wrong reason. That is why metallica sucks, and that is why i am sad that most bands are turning that way.

Metallica are clearly Testaments biggest influence and Dave Mustaine is still in many ways a big part of Metallica. Personally I like Skolnick and Hammett cant say whos my fave, Skolnick is technically better for sure but Kirks playing is so raw and that includes his out of tune bends !!!

you cant compare hammet to skolnick....hammet sucked ass!! skolnick is waay better, melodically and technically. hammets solos suck. there are times he sounds very amateurish. IMO.

Alex is the best tho. great note choices, melodies and patterns in his solos. he made testament a great band. All id do is forward to the lead bits. great player!

All of Kirks solos are littered with WAY too much wah, all their solos kindof bleed together in my head and they took allitle something called the panatonic scale and railroaded it. Not to mention they decided to foresake the guitar solo and make St. Anger. The only thing redeamable about Metallica is James and every bass player they have had.

first of all kirks solos are not all wah abused, and the ones that are, show that he has his own sense of style, which many thrash guitarists did not have. Ok so u have a problem with the solos and the newer stuff, but if you judge a band, only by their worst and crappiest production, and SOLOS (sigh!) u got some serious problems. Metallica does have good solos, u have to admit that, and some kick ass riffs.. Ofcourse im not expecting you to love metallica, just dont trash a decently good band.
