So those other oil companies don't make a profit? How much profit is too much? is it a dollar cap or do you use a percentage of revenue figure? Please tell me how much profit Exxon should give away.

Exxon (XOM) has already paid $19.828 billion in income taxes for 2008 (data here), and will probably pay almost $40 billion in income taxes this year (see graph above, income tax data for 1999-2007 taken from Exxon's annual reports).

The video is stupid, but I've been boycotting Exxon Mobil for about a year now. An attendant filled my tank when I clearly asked for $20 worth of gas. He then threatened to call the cops, and made me give him my cell phone as collateral while I went home to get more money.

When I sent an email to corporate complaining they sent one back a month later saying the issue was resolved and I would be refunded the station denied ever being contacted.

Fuck Exxon, Hess, however is very hospitable.

All oil compainies buy and sell surplus products all the time, so if you boycott ExxonMobil then they will just sell their excess gasoline to any of their afore mentioned inferior competitors. It will be sold at a slightly lower price to the competitors but they know you'll still buy it at the regular price so that's where they will keep it.

If having to sell their surplus hurts their profits, then at least a boycott does some good. It'll also lower their future sales projections. I'm sure they keep score with how much they sell to consumers vs to competitors.
