Obama does not have to take on the oil companies. He does not have to do anything with the oil companies. All he has to do is encourage any or all other sources of energy, from sun to wind, to getting energy from cellulose. Then he has to "debugger" the energy usage industry The oil companies will fall into line and the energy picture will begin to shift drastically. People will be able to power their own cars and electrical appliances. create their own gas. and reduce utility usage.

There is very little of this that needs large centralized business. They could store energy as compressed gas and in batteries and heat in water tanks.  They could capture energy and store every calorie, and use it as needed. There is ethanol, but one could produce and store liquified methane in a tank. He could take big money energy and turn them into "limpies" while putting everyone back to work.

Tax on oil gets passed onto the customer, which increases the price of oil. Oil tax will not fix a thing, however all politicians rely on the majority of people to be "brainless".

I got no idea what McCain stands for because he completely changed his policies to win the republican nomination. He went from thinking for himself to tring to imitate Bush from taxes, social security, and other important issues. The only issue he has been clear on is he wants to continue the war in Iraq and look for Bin Ladden in Iraq but he is not in Iraq.
