  • If you want real taste, try Marmite.

  • seen one of these just last saturday bloke up the anzac rifle range at malabar had one. im using a lee enfield No4 mk1 loving it but its my dads, looking to get another one any ideas on where to fetch one from?

  • @OOOTS2035 I got one for $100 the 2 weeks ago from an old farmer in my rural town in South Australia. They're starting to go up in price for about $350-$500 and they're going to keep rising. Ring up local gunshops or post an ad in the paper and hope the person selling it doesn't know what they're worth

  • lithgow, savage and long branch usually bring the best price. ($300.) british made enfields bring about $100. to $150.

  • If they're rare why do have four of them, but please don't get me mistaken because when I was writing this I was expecting to get a response of something like"Those are the ONLY four of them" and then I'd feel bad. lol

  • @MAKER6450

    F88 i know we're making now @ Lithgow.

  • perfect weapon!!!!

  • how do you get them?

  • Great video. Fantastic piece of Aussie history.

  • hey I am getting a converted ww1 lee-enfield to a sporter from my passed grandfather, is there any way to change it back?

  • Interesting vid; thanks! I'm an American but have been fascinated with these rifles for a couple years now; got a Lithgow 1916 No.1MkIII back in 2008; can't remember exactly how much I paid for it but it was less than $300 USD... it's a great gun and still shoots incredibly straight and the action is smooth as hell... as a soldier myself, gives me a great appreciation for today's equipment-- I can't imagine fighting a war with a heavy bolt-action rifle with only a 10 round magazine.. insane!!!

  • Australia did not make No. 4. They were made in US by Savage, marked "US Property" Long Branch In Toronto Ontario Canada. BSA, RSAF Maltby and RSAF Fazackerly. From an AMERICAN

  • @Bloo0969 The No.4 Mk1* was the Savage-Stevens and Long Branch Arsenal produced rifles. This is of slightly differing design (only very slight) to the No.4 Mk1. The asterix after the one identifies the US/Canada version. The No.4 Mk1 was produced in England

  • My rifles please ! Okay !?

  • i didnt know we made a rifle.

I knew we mad the owen sub-machine gun tho.

what other weapons did australia make?

  • @MAKER6450 most of the common commonwealth weapons were made in australia, No. 4's No. 1's Stens owens not many brens those were mainly made in Canada and Britain, and No. 6's

    From a CANADIAN

  • @MAKER6450 steyr aug

  • Thanks, very informative.

  • Are you on the shooters forum? I'm sure I have seen a pic of this collection on there

  • I shot one of these great rifles today. It had an unusual iron-sight designed to be used in jungles because the scopes used to fog up.

  • now that is a great arsenal..I just love it

  • top rifle is the Jungle Carbine, designed as a light carbine version of the Lee-Enfield during the Pacific.

  • I love all your Enfield vids, Sir!!!

  • weapons like that make me proud to be British

  • I have a factory refitted 303 to .22LR for sale if your interested

    thanks survival australia01

  • Nice rifles mate

  • Feel like sellin' any of these to an American admirer? Can't find a single one here but I'm dieing to get my hands on one.

  • @TacTeppo gunbroker is where youll find one

  • love the no.6, have the no.5, love that too

  • Brass Butt-plate to smash jerry in the face :P Awesome Collection.

  • To add to these irrelevent comments... Joint Task Force 2 reigns supremacy over all!

  • Thanks for putting that up .

  • @ozzyguy67

Umm, no? Are you unable to comprehend what I typed?

  • @ozzyguy67

Hence the reason you post senselessly pathetic attempts to insult me over the internet...?

  • Man..hard to understand your English!

  • Bugger me....never knew that they made a six?! I think the Lithgow factory was built around 1912 (I could be wrong); thanks for posting. Cheers.

  • LOL vegemite

  • This rifles can realy reach the german k98. :) There they had done a realy good work.

  • I have a No.1 Mk.III*, what is the difference between it and the HT besides a heavier barrel? Did they come from the factory drilled and tapped with the scope mount?

  • good info mate, ty

  • @ozzyguy67

I fucking wish. (P.S.: Your background rocks)

That's why I wish I were a 'Boarder Security dickhead' where I live, I'd like to change that.

As of late, I've been really considering it... fuck the low pay, I'll gladly clean up my borders for cheap.

  • I'm considering buying an Enfield.

  • I love your accent, It sounds like the murderer off wolf creek. No offence. Great vid though :-)

  • A Dingo Ate My baby Haaha

But nice guns i want to find one. maby my local gun shop has one.

But seriously, who the hell made up a dingo ate my baby?

  • @XXXMAC187XXX the simpsons did mate LOL :)

  • @XXXMAC187XXX

A dingo actually ate a woman's baby. Although most people think she killed the kid and made the dingo story up.

  • I love my Lee Enfield .303. I purchased it 10 year ago at a gun show here in Denver for $89 US.

  • The No.6, as I have read, was far to light to handle the .303 round's recoil. Recoil was apparently so bad that it would always knock the sights loose, and you could never keep a zero for very long.

  • I am a Yank, and have an interest in surplus rifles and Garands and Springfield 1903's are a little expensive here, and enfields seem to be more affordable, what enfield would you recomend?

  • Australia = suck. You can't even have a knife sent in to Australia because the customs are so fucked up. Better yet, you can't even have a LASER sent into Australia thanks to wankers flashing them at planes.

How the hell do you have the ability to even touch a GUN?

  • @SKoGoMoney Cause we are the Lucky Country.A lot less diseased farms and cattle, purest bee honey (Kangaroo Island),the best cattle and sheep breeds.Thats what Customs are good for.No civil wars ,no invasions,no wankers. No drive by shootings,no crips wars.We fought and defeated a lot of enemies our allies couldnt(except the Turks).Oz has never had a large gun following and its not in our constitution Thank god to"bear Arms"

  • @C906070

Unfortunately you are a *lucky* country. You don't border with mexicans who your tax dollars pay for. You don't pay for illegal immigrants food, drugs, house, land, and LIFE in general. Every damn disease comes from mongrelized nations like mexico and practically every country in africa. Swine flu = mexico, HIV/AIDS = africa, mad cow disease = mexico, the list goes on.

    .

Furthermore, they are the source of all our problems, illegals. Now we even have an illegal president. (cont)

  • @C906070

Stand by and watch with your tail between your legs as the Americans stand up for their country again. It's gonna be ugly for those on the wrong side. As soon as I'm out of the Army SF, I'm raising a militia, something you'd never be able to do. You can stand idly by while your queen royally fucks you, but that's what separates me from you. I'm not a pussy that'll sit back and let my rights be stripped away.

I'm an American. We beat your "royal military" to shit.

  • @C906070

So go figure you don't have any civil wars, you bow down to that old lady who absolutely wouldn't care if you lived or died. That old lady whose word is unquestioned because nobody has the balls to stand up for what's right or the rights they should have. You realize that Australia was meant to be the exile of every unfit Englishman and criminal and other people the kingdom wanted to be rid of... right?

  • @C906070

Point is, you are lucky. You don't have the balls to stand up to your shitty government, but you are indeed lucky.

All that aside, if your government wanted you dead, you'd be dead. If for some crazy reason another country wanted to own Australia, they'd own it. Why? Because you're defenseless. It'd be like taking candy from a baby, a real massacre. All the while the ignorant citizens like yourself thank God that you aren't allowed to bear arms LOL. It sure would suck having to (cont)

  • @C906070

Rely solely on your military for protection, because they won't cut it one day. They'll be as easily eliminated as the civilians, because they came from a weaponless environment and went into the military ignorant. What use is someone with a gun when they don't know how to use it? I was a marksman with multiple weapons in my youth, my favorite being the AK-47. I'd wager that I was more skilled as a child than any Australian soldier is today.

  • @SKoGoMoney Cool bananas with your comments.me I have fired the M16 and a Lee Enfield. But what you dont see as Australians is the peaceful country we have.We have more agro against japanese whaling ships,LOL.one thing is as a nation we are very proud and have always stood up against bigger odds.If you like History check up Passchendale,Gallipoli,Tobruk,Kokoda Trail,Kapyong,Long Tan.

  • @SKoGoMoney So they are germans,turkish,germans-desert,japs,chinese,vietnamese.Yes same as USA but were all against the odds undermanned.Undergunned.The other story about convicts didnt last long ,my state was convict free-Even early America was sent convicts? The royalty is mostly a figurehead,we make our own laws.Im not ignorant I just know a lot of History like eg.Eureka stockade? What about Battle of Brisbane?CYa

  • @SKoGoMoney I'd wager you aren't. Australian has one of the best (if not the best) special forces in the world. As for illegal immigrants, we get boat loads of immigrants turning up on our door step each second day. So far this yr 111 boats have turned up with 5516 illegal immigrants. And what happens with them? We the tax payers pay for them. We aren't that lucky. We have the crime and everything else like every other country, but we doing have 80 something people shot a day like in America

  • @pedro351c yea american SF are the elite

  • shakira was great in this video

  • I <3 Vegemite!

  • No Lee Enfield No 4 Rifles?

  • nice aussie made rifles its a pitty vegimite isnt australian owned anymore tho

  • Im A Shooter A shooter at Lithgow rifle range i shoot rim fire and centerfire

  • i love how you put the Vegemite there, great job ! great video, good pig gun :P

  • i own thiz rifle :)

  • man,the lee enfield is my favoret rifle...I looked at one a number 1 mark 3 in my local shop for about 3 months just lusting after it and finaly bought it ,lol, a great purchase, its amazing

  • do you mean p14 30-06

  • the best bolt rifle ever made

  • Vegemite is now HALAL! An American owned muzlim product. Buy AUSSIEMITE. 100% Aussie owned!

  • I dont mean to be stupid, but what do you mean when you say number 5 or number 6.

  • That would most likely mean the models. Mark 1, mark 2, etc, in order of age

  • I have a question wich im sure you would know the answer to. Im looking at an Ishapore made Lee enfield chambered in 7.62. I want to get a lee enfield, but im not sure if these rifles are any good or not. Im in america, and 7.62 is by far cheaper than 303.

  • @Transporter1022

The Ishapore 2a or the 2a1 are the models that are chambered in 7.62x51mm. They are GREAT rifles and I highly reccomend them. Some say they are better than the Lee Enfield because of the benefit of 1960's steel technology and the like. I don't know if I agree but either way it is a damn fine rifle and you should not hesitate to get it. I own one and I LOVE IT!!!

  • top one is a "jungle carbine"

  • great info and another good informational video.you do great work with just the right amount of witticism.please keep up the great work on a great rifle.

  • Great vid. 5 stars.

  • Vegemite.....is that good with Wheat germ?

  • lol Vegemite nice touch

  • I've just got myself a 1942 No 1 mk 3*. Its deactivated and doing a cosmetic restoration. I can see why JGS is interested in Enfields.

  • Ive been to the factory in lithgow many years ago

  • haha love the vegemite. good old Australian humour.

  • love vegimite !!!

  • with the mag and clip, which one were the soldier used in the war?

  • Hi, I know it's been three months but if you still need to know, the lee enfield .303 was reloaded with clips. With the sniper versions if the scope was in the way it was reloaded with individual rounds from the top.

  • I used No4s exstensively as a Cadet. We always detached the mags and loaded them by hand. I subsequently had an Enfield Envoy with scope on it which was loaded the same - but was a rechambered 7.62 rifle there is little point in loading the rifle with bullet clips from the top unless the ammo is already loaded into clips for you

  • very nice rifle, the number 6 would be great for paratroopers

  • how much does one of those run American? and what is the cheapest i could get it for?

  • 0:30 - 1:30

    c'mon

bolt action sucks during close combat! even throu that rifle is as short as a carbine

  • baha veggeimitee

  • i dont get it..whats with the vegemite?

  • vegemite is aussie thats why

  • Great vid mate!

  • There should be some sort of date stamped on your rifle. Look under the bolt handle on the receiver band. It may be there, depending on where it was made. Some don't have it there, most do.

  • Beautiful rifles, and a very interesting video, I didn't know Enfields were every made in any place but England

    God bless

  • Actually 'dude', the five rifles shown qualify as Aussie Enfields. The No6 was designed and built in Australia, the HTs were built up to an Australian design using Australian scopes and mounts and overwhelmingly Australian-produced rifles.

Lee-Enfield rifles were built in England, Australia, the United States, Canada, India, Pakistan and Nepal.

I've read my history 'dude', the Lee-Enfield rifle was not only built in 'ENGALND.'

  • @Jollygreenslugg You are right about Le Enfields being made overseas, But surely in Canada, India, Australia, It is evident by their markings where they are made: but surely not in the USA?

  • @Jollygreenslugg you are right........

  • @imachristian100 british.

  • @imachristian100 pwned

  • thats the dumbest thing you could possibly say on this subject

  • @imachristian100 Victa lawnmowers are Australian, yet you Yanks have them over there. read your history, invention of an item does not mean sole exclusive manufacturing rights (especially when trying to capitalize and compete on a large international market.)

  • @imachristian100 my grand parents live in enfield

  • @imachristian100 Do yourself a favour and buy a copy of Ian Skennerton's "The Lee Enfield". A sure fire way of looking like a dick is to make grand statements on a subject you clearly know nothing about.

  • @imachristian100 They built Enfield rifles under license here in Canada also.....you think Britain provided every rifle for every Commonwealth soldier? They had a tough time equipping their own soldiers due to Germans wanting to invade and all.....

  • the No6 was the Jungle Carbine.

  • nope, that was the mark 5

  • Right got my #s messed up...damned num-pad. Wish I could get either a k98k Mauser or an Enfield here in the US for under $300 unfortunately...I can't. PISS!

  • lol dont worry about it, they look similar lol

yeah, at least you can buy WORKING rifles, i here in the shitty UK all i can get is a deac, and they arnt exactly cheap over here...

  • Yeah, I feel bad for you guys/gals over there. Your government really gave you the screwing on the right to defend yourself and owning even sporting firearms. If someone were to break into your house while you're there well better luck next time because you gotta call the cops, can't defend your home or yourself. Least I live out in Wyoming where I can purchase just about any firearm aside from a pistol at age 18 and then 21 I can get a pistol and my CCW(Concealed Permit)

  • i live in the u.k and thats not all you can do atall ,if you join a club you can shoot shotguns and i think in certain clubs rifles

  • well yeah, but that requires a section 1 firearms license (for rifles and the like) and all sorts of legal red tape thats quite a lot of hassle like a suitable protection and various forms to fill out, theres none of that in countries like america, but then again gun crimes through the roof

  • @Robaaaayy Working rifles, including Enfields are legal in the UK, just get a FAC, or join a gun club.

  • Chances are yes. It was not a desirable addition (unlike cuttoffs, early round cocking piece, volley sights etc) so no collector would ever try and add them to a rifle that didn't have them to begin with.

  • The wire wrap was added in 1917 to help reduce the splintering should the barrel burst, such was the reduced quality of metal work due to wartime production. Gunsmiths sometimes erroneously refer to rifles with the wrap rounds as "Grenade Launchers" refering to the rifle grenades (rod and cup types) used in the First World War. Infact they could be found on any wartime 1917-1918 SMLE

  • question. the model 6 has a flash hider but also has a bayonet lug. since it has a flash hider does it need a special bayonet if it takes on eat all?

  • Does Lithgow even still make firearms?

  • I dont know alot about the Lee enfield rifles only that i was let to fire my grandfathers WW1 Long Tom rifle....to cut to the chase i didnt want to give back the Lee enfield rilfes are so nice to shoot.

    no coment needed

  • I own 2 one is a rework in .308 by the Gibbs Rifle Co. Very Informative Video...thx

  • vegemite? marmite ftw! lol, love the rifles

  • my dad has a no. 4 mk. 1

  • S.M.L.E. - Short Magazine Lee Enfield

  • Whats with the Vegemite/Marmite lol?

  • once again great video mate<

  • Hey I have a 1915 Lee Enfield MkIII SMILE. Can anyone tell me what the I stands for in SMILE?

  • It's actually an SMLE but they added the I to make it the "Smiley." It's just a nickname.

  • But its Stamped on the Gun SMILE not SMLE.

  • PLEASE HELP!! I recently came across what I think it a Pattern 14 Lee Enfield British .303, at least he butt stock has the Pattern 14 marking and the brass disk. However, the British .303 ammo is too big to fit in the gun. Does anyone know what caliber rifle this may be?

  • I want to buy a No6 Can you help?

  • us australians won the war

  • Is there a place I can go to fire some rounds from these type guns?

  • what the difference between australian and british made lee enfields?

  • British made stay on English soil and the Australian made are for criminals and sent to Australia.

  • so called crims who helped win ww2 are no crims in my book.

  • I was joking mate :)

  • Uhh, they didn't help much. USA saved Australia.

  • Thats what most Yanks say. the SMLE was the rifle that won the war, in the hands of Commonwealth Soldiers. the only American unit that could be said of helping of winning the war was 506th 2nd battalion, Easy Company of the 101st Airborn. The M1 is a great rifle but it ain't the best its among the best

  • ?????do you have any idea about your history. Just cuz you watched Band of brothers, doesn't mean that that was the only effective US unit. the third army was great as well as the 82nd AB Just to name a few. The M1 is the best weapon of the war, 8 30.06 rounds that you can deliver on target in seconds. compared to Two or Three with any bolt action. if the americans dont invade europe, operation sea lion happens, and England falls. Dont talk shit if you dont know what your talking about.

  • Figures typical American, yest there were other units that helped. Of the two the SMLE is a more accurate rifle, but not by much, I have fired a Canadian SMLE and can say its by far the best rifle I have ever fired, the M1 is the american equivilent to the SMLE. On the Band of brothers comment yes I have seen the series and I have done my own research on Easy Co, and I can say they were the best American troops of WW2. My choice between the two would still be the SMLE as i prefere the bolt....

  • ...action rifle for the simple reason less rounds wasted commpared to the M1 or and Semi or fully automatic. Yes the 82nd was a great unit. Pattons 3rd Army was good for one reason, Patton. Easy Co. had Dick Winters who lead Easy from the front. Its good that your proud but don't let that cloud your judgement, the Germans wern't as scared of American troops as they were of Canadian troops because afterall Canadian troops fought with a tenacity that the Americans were lacking....

  • ...on the battle field. Canadian troops have the reputation on the battle field as the ones that can get any job done (Ironically Easy Co. was the same way), we earned that reputation the hard way during WW1 in the trenches surrounding Vimy Ridge, where Canadian troops succeded where both the brits and the french failed in the taking of Vimy Ridge and yet you Americans take credit for that war aswell. Canadian troops did more in both world wars and in Korea then they get credit for.

  • Ok, so you would rather have you Bolt action, but any other smart person would roll with a semi auto weapon, as for accuracy, the deference is not big enough to override the fact of semi auto. like i said, 8 rounds down range in seconds, with out having to rebolt!

  • Its only a matter of prefferance, considering the era of the rifles. A well drilled tommy, aussi, or a canuck soldier can place a simular amount of fire down range. I have to agree with you that a semi is preferential in battle but considering a Bolt action rifle, your able to place rounds more selectively down range, have you ever fired a SMLE if you have you would know that are just as good or even better the the M1. if I had the choice I would take the M1 but only on select missions.

  • ive been 2 vimy ridge:D

btw i agree with you the lee enfield was more accrurate and reliable

im not much of a gun nut myself but wouldnt the bullet springy out thing make the weapon more vunarable to dirt?

  • what was the yellow can?

  • vegemite you noob

  • sorry you jackass just asking a question

  • I would like to see No.4 Mk1 and the Jungle Carbine comparison

  • i was just curiouse did and Canadian or British no4's enter Australian service in either Infantry or sniper format ? i am awar that many Canadian long branch no4's were sent to New Zealand

  • No. Canadian- and British-made No. 4s did not enter Australian service. Australia produced a sniper version of the No. 1 and No. 1s were used as the standard-issue rifle. In the 1960s and 70s Canadian No. 4s made at Long Branch were sold as target rifles in Australia. I owned one such weapon in the original .303 in. and it was an excellent target-sporting rifle. Some of these Canadian No. 4s were converted to 7.62mm NATO for target-sporting shooting. The No. 4 Lee Enfield was an excellent rifle.

  • thanks wasnt sure myself

  • i've always wanted to know,wat's vegemite???

  • I could be wrong, but I think it's an Ausi version of peanut butter.

Never the lesss those are some sweet rifles. I wish SMLEs were more comon in America. Ironically the most common ww2 rifle in America is the Mosin Nagant. You can buy a mosin nagant at most sporting goods stores in America.

  • bahahaaaa....american? or british?

nah jokes, its a black, nearly molasses looking stuff that tastes like nothing else. its pretty damn good.

  • marmite is so much better

  • lol. true.

  • i have one my gradpa gaveit to me

  • but the thing about a modle 6 is that it could be as good as a sniper rifle as the other 4, they can shoot 2/300 yrds no problem dead on

  • i have the top version with the front sight on the barrel and a brass butt plate. it has a 1921 lithgow stamp. what can you tell me about it? thank you.

  • I'm not shure, but I think they switched to the low mount because it enables the sniper to present a smaller overal surface area, that means that if your sniping from inside a roof, you only need to dislodge one roof tile insead of two in order to shoot out, or if shooting from behind a wall it enables you to use a smaller loophole

  • someone once actualy told me that the reason why they made the mounts to sit lower was to actualy still have some cheek suport on the stock without the army having to remake but stocks with higher combs (raised).

  • that sounds more plausible

  • a buddy of mine has this weapon. great gun, kinda heavy though. have to expect that from wood and steel.

  • Nice rifles! Cant be Aussie with vegamite! We're happy little Vegemites As bright as bright can be. We all enjoy our Vegemite For breakfast, lunch, and tea. Our mother says we're growing stronger every single week. Because we love our Vegemite. We all adore our Vegemite. It puts a rose in every cheek!
  • Don't u just love the enfield

  • Ive never seen a scoped No. 1 mk.3 if thats the correct designation, only scoped No.4's. great series of videos, and keep up the collecting!

    -gunny55

  • What cat are Lee Enfields in plz tell me A or B?
