  • Very static performance! Perhaps Plant is at a different concert to Krauss!

  • Who can dislike this?

  • I've heard both and they both have their charms. I was lucky enough to see Heart do it live. God Bless you Ann Wilson!

  • shit plant has still got it

  • Is that Union Station backing them up???

  • I love Alison but Sandy Denny fit in the prog world better

  • I like the Original best!!

  • better than nothing ; 0

  • THE ANGELS ARE HERE. AMEN

  • Heart had a bIT more practice

  • Nancy does this better than Alison, as much as I Love Raising Sand with Alison and Robert ;) Nancy and Ann do this 2nd best to the original <3

  • Great song......The ringwraiths ride in black!!!!

  • Average!

  • watch, dont fish and drive!

  • we're all im the battle....the battle of living only once....... really dont care what the song came from or is based on.....its all about living once so live every day like its ur last

  • no I am just stating

  • couldn't have been more distance between 'em!

  • Im pretty sure this song is about a battle that took place in the bible of the lord of the rings trilogy called the Corinthian....Ledzep based alot of songs on these books

  • @slicedbread75 Robert plant read LOTR

  • @LedZepAlexander are you asking if he read or under what the majority of zep songs are about? which are LOTR stories

  • @LedZepAlexander ya think

  • @LedZepAlexander what are you asking me....yeah he read lotr

  • Maybe Led Zeppelin died with Bonham but the music lives on. This video shows Plant and Krauss breathing plenty of life into the Battle of Evermore.

  • If you want to hear "incredible", listen to Ann and Nancy Wilson's rendition of this song. Its amazing!

  • @thosedays1 Totally agree. See the rock and roll hall of fame 1995 inductions live version. I heard Robert Plant was inspired by the Wilson's to do this with Allison. The original Zeppelin version is actually kind of weak, this version is better. Sorry aging men, Zeppelin was a great rock band, but really commercial and a big stealer of riffs and hardly sacred.

  • @marinman39 Zeppelin ? Commercial ? I absolutely disagree ! Just the fact they didn't make singles, or that they introduced what we now call "World Music" on their B-Sides proves they weren't commercial !

BTW, I prefer the original version, where Plants voice is better (and the Wilson's version is also amazing !)

  • @marinman39 HAHAHAHAH LED ZEPPELIN, COMERCIAL ?? AHHAHAHAHAHA your mother is comercial, learn about rock and then talk. and led's version is weak.?? Alison is great but u just cant compare her with sandy. ahhaha u have a problem with audition and music taste ahaha... comercial... even stealers ok for u to say that, but comercial??? ahaha u know nothing.

  • @thosedays1 and again! they are the best!

  • @thosedays1 its amazing

  • @thosedays1 I love Heart, and yes they do an incredible version of The Battle Of Evermore. However, no one will ever be able to touch the original version by Led Zeppelin with Sandy Denny. Its beyond epic!!!!

  • Alison is such a babe with her hair that long!

  • good job, but the world needs the page/plant powerhouse tag-team in order to play this song

  • @gibsongold1970 I love the Heart version much better than this one.

  • @NineCatsz absolutely agree, the girls (women) smash this song

  • @NineCatsz Bump, agreed, yep, listen to it, sounds closer to the original studio version even though its live, but I still dig Allison, alwyas have. Great harmonies from her.

  • they do this song well together... wow

  • I wish they would have put this on their album.

  • I have no idea why or how these 2 got together but I am glad they did. This is incredible.

  • T Bone Burnett was doing the instrumental. He is incredible too. I saw them @Mohegan Sun

  • Alison is good but Anne Wilson puts her to shame - I can feel the country crowd cringing to this song

  • Gawd what a horrible audio recording.

You can't mic a performance like that just so ya know.

I'm sure this was incredible live but it certainly doesn't get captured here.

  • @Akileze Its live?

  • You have two people here that are gods of their respective genres singing A song written by Led Zep, I would much rather see this than the Wilson sisters doing a cover of it, The Wilson sisters sound like two cats with their tails tied together, and besides, they're gone, lols

  • plant is god

  • I'm a huge Zep fan but I prefer the Ann and Nancy's version.

  • Ann and Nancy Wilson of Heart now own this song. This is good, though.

  • they dont own this song you fuck,

how is reading someone elses sheet music make the song yours?

  • I prefer Anne and Nancy Wilson's version.

  • I much prefer the version Page, Plant and assorted musicians recorded in 1994 for MTV's "Page & Plant Unledded". Seems very hard to come by on Youtube though.

  • I agree!

  • this is good shit... the best of shit!!!

  • I think he's shtuping her

  • Most of his songs? What besides Battle of Evermore, Ramble on and Misty Moutain Hop?

  • Exactly! Plant was a huge fan of Tolkien.

  • In 1980 the 3 remaining members decided that they could not continue as JB was then and is now irreplacable. It wasn't just the drumming it was the person, the friend the rapport and most of all the chemistry. That was what made Zeppelin the tour de force they were. I don't think any of the other 3 wishes to flog a dead horse "due to public demand" This is a band who never released a single just because their fans wanted one. They never did one single in 12 years. They kept their word.

  • "They never did one single in 12 years." Zeppelin issued several singles, one, of course, was Whole Lotta Love, which I owe myself, another was Immigrant Song.

  • I used to own Over the hills and far away/Black Dog (if I recall correctly) on 45rpm vynil. Sadly, I broke it. Oh well, it was just their musical energy condensed to a slow vibration, and the songs remain all the same.

  • I dont understand why people on youtube make comments about what or what not a guy should do after 30 years....Go ahead watch the same videos and make the same comments for 30 years and then after 30 years tell me you want to keep watching the same videos and make the same comments.....go on....do it. Do It! The crowd wants it!

  • Is Robert dancing with Allison after the show ?

  • I think its the lack of John Bonham that is keeping Led Zeppelin off the road. Robert had a rough time of it the latter days of zeppelin. Sure, John Bonham ultamatly had the greatest loss, but think of all the poop Percy went threw. First, his voice changed dramatically from constant touring....count up the shows Zep did in their first 3 years, then he and family almost died in accident, his son died, and then his best friend was gone forever. Maybe zep just brings up bad shit for him.

  • damn you alison krauss! led zeppelin was going back on tour but then you stopped them!

  • well i dont agree with this song being played without page and jones but its still sounds amazing

  • its a zep song you dumb cunt

  • omfg are you fucking kidding me you stupid piece of shit...

I FUCKING KNOW ITS A GOD DAMN ZEP SONG

I meant the style they're doing it in is that wierd ass cross between blue grass and rock that Krauss does, stupid motherfucker

dont take me for an idiot, that fucking pissed me off way more than you know

I play this song with my dad, him on mandolin me on guitar, both of us singing, my ma sings with us sometimes, and we do it the ZEP WAY

So im pretty fucking sure I know its a zep song

  • this kid is sooo fucking stupid :P

its the same song, with alison kraus

no change in arrangement or anything.

run along now and go play with your toys

    little shit

  • hahahah your so wrong

    it makes me laugh

there's definitely a change in the feel of the song

it has a more "bluegrass" feel, if you could call it that

instrumentation is different, the style of vocals is different, its just a totally different arrangement

and oh I'm a stupid kid am I?

I may be 16, but I'm definitely more mature than you are, my friend

  • your right My young friend but is true to the Z as they had a bluegrass background enjoying different arrangements just go listen to dolly parden do stairway to heaven(with the ok frome plant) he even wrote a new verse for her

  • "Whoever takes care of Roberts music career"? I think you'll find thats Robert and who the fuck are we to judge whether or not he should rejoin Zeppelin. He dosnt have the same vocal range these days and we should have enough respect for him to allow him to choose his own musical path.

  • If y ou like this, check out Ann and Nancy Wilson's version (Heart). Not only do they sing it with Heart, but they play the mandolin and guitar as well!! Their inspiration - LED ZEPPELIN 4 EVER

  • Anyone who does not like this is not paying attention .

  • Listen to the Nashville (Jul 08) version. They had really worked out their cues and timing by then. I think that version rivals and surpasses the original version. Check it out!

  • stop freaking out geez

  • This would be very cool to see these two perform live :D

  • Fair version, worth listening. Just to hear that one again is allright, even if it aint the original

  • No Thanks!

    I'd rather plant watercress.

  • and shrek 3!!!!!! XD

  • School of Rock had Zep!

  • What you guys make of this honestly ??

I think there super !! they only had one rehearsal for this tune...

    Click the video response above

    There called Speedking from Ireland..

  • i saw this in nashville

as soon as the mandolin riff started everyone with any sense stood up and screamed (99% of the crowd) it was amazing!

  • see, even on this tour his voice was a bit rusty at some shows, but with this kind of music he can still manage a pretty good performance. a tour with led zeppelin would tear his voice up bad. people have to stop giving him shit about turning down that opportunity.

  • when Roby sings is like god speaking or singing if god ever sanged

  • See the video entitled:

Led Zeppelin- The Battle of Evermore.

It is in the "Related Videos" column.

    Which is the better version?

  • zep should have been on lord of the rings movie.

  • Zep don't allow their music in movies to often. Only ones I can think of are Almost Famous and for some reason Small Soldiers O_o

  • IMHO, Krauss is by far a better technical singer (pitch, articulation, etc), and I really enjoy her work but for me she doesn't have the fragility of Denny, and she certainly doesn't have that nebulous 'Anglo-Saxon/Celtic Soul' thing that Denny had. Sandy Denny was all about that 'voice of ages past'. BOE was the embodiment of that... IMHO...

  • Got to admit, it shows a LOT of open-mindedness on BOTH artists. Very, very COOL. Alison has the BG precision of LZ's raw intensity. This is "why can't we get along" at it's finest..............

  • I completely agree. Surprisingly, this is the first I've actually heard them singing together (I know, long time coming eh?) and I am pleasantly surprised!

  • Denny was just as good. RIP Denny.

  • It's a creditable effort but given the original was sung by Sandy Denny any other performance is bound to not compare too well. I prefer the version that Fairport Convention did with their drummer's daughter singing the female lead.

  • Try the Nashville performance (Jul 08). They had fully worked out their cues and parts by then. With due respect, she far exceds Denny

  • *On

  • Come Plant, Dance I know you want to!

  • She has done not bad. Her vocal range is adequate to backup Plant.

  • Throw rotten tomatoes at her !!!

  • Comment removed

  • Die

  • Now now child....bed time...and SSSH as you have nothing of worth to say :) ass wipe mwahahahaa

  • yeah fuck you

  • *sigh* sssh now little puppy

  • Comment removed

  • He dosent seem as into it as he used to be...

  • he's just standing there.. he needs page and jones.

  • her voice is like an angel! this song is a classic

  • This is beautiful. Allison Krause has an amazing voice. I think it is so great that this song is still being performed by Robert Plant. He's keeping the magic he once created with Sandy Denny alive!!!!!

  • awesome

    tx

  • Not nearly as good as when Zeppelin and that chick Sandy Denny did it. I think that Plant should go back to Zeppelin to do that reunion tour instead of having to find a replacement. There is just not anybody out there that can replace Plants vocals. Zeppelin is not complete with out him. I dont like this new Plant and Krauss crap.

  • I'm not sure who "Zeppelin" is, but if your referring to Led Zeppelin, they died when John Bonham died.

    There is no going back.

  • @guglio1290 yeah that's the most hopeless shit I've ever heard

  • @guglio1290 Hear Hear... As much as Page wants to keep digging up the past, Led Zeppelin died on 25th September 1980

  • @guglio1290 they will never die.... if the music is taken to heart how can it die....Led changed my life. So many musicians keep them alive, cause without them those musicians would have never lived.

  • Absolutely beautiful performance.

  • Plant did not sell out he just does what he enjoys he is the best rock singer of our time ,it my be a few hundred years or never that some could replace him ,he does owe it to his fans to tour with zepplin

  • robert plant should get together with Ann Wilson from heart, they could even make some great music. and make her join ZEP. i WOULD PAY TO SEE THAT

  • Those that think Plant sold out by singing with Krauss are in a time warp. Zeppelin is no longer. They haven't been a band for over twenty years. Krauss is the most awarded female artist with 26 Grammys at last count. Planted wanted to venture onto another canvas using different brushes and colors. I agree some of the songs with Krauss won't get me to run out and buy it. For others, this thing between Plant and Krauss is pure magic. I hope the day comes when Zep flies again!

  • "The drums will shake the castle walls; the ringwraiths ride in black." Yes it is inspired by or about the Lord of the Rings. And Page actually sounds good here live for a change.

  • it's robert plant

  • opps, sorry! Meant to say Plant.

  • I like this one much better than the Kristina Donahue one thats out there...

  • and we dont tell robert plant to fuck off

    you red necked inbred fool

  • led zep died the day that john bonham

    did

  • fucking terrible. fuck you plant. led zeppelin forever.

  • plant is the best vocalist in the world for almost everybody......it does not matter led zep or solo ...

  • Allison is no slouch either ,regardless which type of music you like .

  • goddamn do i love robert plant and allison is amazing too

  • He's had a great solo career with such variety, Im glad he didn't just stay with jimmy after no quarter project. he needed to explore.

  • "Im glad he didn't just stay with jimmy after no quarter project. he needed to explore."

    Yeah, explore more pussay!

  • You are not a real zepp fan, I can tell.

Zeppelin was as successful as they were because of the fact that they never sold out like plant is doing here. They didnt do talk shows and such like the stones and beatles....and they never released singles or did solo projects.

whatever. plant will always be my favorite vocalist.

By the way, this tour is the reason as to why he wont tour with jimmy, jason, and john in america. its just just the three of them now. fuck allison krauss.

  • krauss adds great vocals to this song. you know that it wouldn't be the same without her. it doesn't matter who sings it, as long as Led Zeppelin can get another voice into this song. this song is not the rock n' roll bad ass led zep everyone's used to. thats why you cant handle it. this song is supposed to sound different. its supposed to be more on the folk side As they toured the middle east, places like Pakistan and morroco they were looking for inspiration for songs like this one. nuff said

  • this was actually inspired from Lord of the Rings. plant is a nerd lol.

the female vocalist that helped on the original song was Sandy Denny. So in a way, krauss makes a decent addition to the song.

  • lord of the rings is not for nerds =(

but yeah, the version with sandy denny was great. this is also great, but not as great

  • Holy Shit! You just took all of the fucking words right out of my mouth! Bravo!!!!!

  • Awesome combo!

  • Damn she can sing!

  • What a wonderful combonation of voices! I love them both and they sound beautiful together!

  • His voice is still spectacular.

It's a shame he does not want to get back together with Zeppelin.

  • agreed Mojorizing. "what is and should never be". it will never be the same. reunion after reunion, it just would never be the same. it would just become a parody or some pointless manouver to cash in on the past. lets move on and deal with the fact that we were not lucky enough to be present during these times, but are blessed to have these songs that are precious to us. plus listen to page's current sloppy playing and plant's vocals that are long lost and gone. "what is and should never be"

  • are they together...like ya know?

  • So He sings Zep songs, but he doesn't want to get back with Zeppelin............... Someone explain? Zep is where he belongs, he knows it too, hes just being stuborn.

  • Zep was Plant, Page, Jones and Bonham.

Zep in not Plant, Page, Jones and Jr.

Easily explained, understand? Time to move on and enjoy what they did.

  • I hope Led Zep never tours. They are the best band ever and Robert Plant is god, but i don't want to see them get back together. I would prefer the memories are left the way they were. Let it rest, move forward. Plant/Kraus is a perfect example of moving forward.

  • Dude!...get back to the Zep reunion and tour, what are u doing this?

  • it will never happen, plant shoots down all of the ideas

  • WOW! After all these years..

STILL A BREATH OF FRESH AIR! ;-)

    THX FOR POSTING THIS!

  • The decision to put these two together was brilliant and whoever came up with the idea should be congratulated for creating one of the most amazing vocal pairings in musical history!!! She has the voice of an angel and he's a legend...together they're magical!

  • And punished for stopping Led Zeppelin.

  • Amen to THAT CarolinaGreenEyes! I couldn't agree more! Saw them live in Portland OR 2 nights ago and it was pure magic! I couldn't keep my eyes off them! (esp.Robert of course! God he's fun to watch!!!!)Heavenly~~~

  • I was there too! It was the first time I saw Robby live and I cried for 3 songs after he came out, haha. Man, that was a night to remember. I am a huge Zeppelin fan, I'm only a 13 year old chick, but man oh man, I can't even put it into words, that night was a half of a dream come true. Now all I have to do is meet Jimmy and Jonesy.

  • HAPPY BIRTHDAY ROBERT!!!! :D <3

  • Lisa Gerrard! She would be the mind-blower for this song, althogh Kraus is doing a very good job, too.

Plant is simply a very original voice - love it.

  • I was at the Toronto show. Best concert I've been to. It was an amazing experience to see the two of them do this. You can't get the same feel from the power of their two voices in person backed up by a fantastic band. And you really shouldn't compare this to Zeppelin. Plant has moved on and clearly is doing different projects. I don't think even he would want this compared to Zeppelin.

  • Sandy Denny would have been sweeter, but this is still sweet.

  • thats amazing

just need the rest of zeppelin

  • The only thing missing from this duo is Page, Jones and Jason Bonham

Listen to the guitar it's really missing Jimmy's touch

    Vocals are top rate though

  • saw them on 7/18 and they were AMAZING! This is one of my favorites from the whole show.

  • They obviously respect each other's talent; hence singing together. However, I would think Ms. Kraus is honored to be singing with Robert Plant. This duo is most unusual, but very refreshing. Thanks for posting.

  • bluegrass meets Tolkien. Don'think Gollum would approve.

  • saw them on 7/15 and concluded they may save the human race. impossible to exaggerate the brilliance and significance of this pairing and the ensemble that t-bone put together.

  • i just saw them on 7/18 and it could have been better than the zeppelin version krauss is definately a better backround singer

  • One of the legendary songs performed by the legend himself...and arguably improved upon by the vocals of one A. Kraus. She's fantastic. I'm not a fan of Zep remixes, but this duo is awesome.

  • She has a lovely voice............they sound great together.

  • How did Allison end up a back up singer? Her voice deserves much more depth. Good song though.

  • To Kevindad123, how did Alison play backup singer to Robert Plant? "good song though"??? Are you kidding?! She's a great singer, but she's playing with a rock GOD! ROBERT PLANT!! There are maybe 5 bands that can be hailed rock gods, Zeppelin is arguably #1! There will never be any new bands that can claim this status, shared by Zeppelin, Hendrix, Stones. Once a god, always a god! Robert Plant is a living legend! Saw them 6/24/08, they are AMAZING together! Both are FABULOUS! Love 'em both!

  • YES!!!! Thank you for saying what I've been thinking! So many posts are saying "this Robert Plant guy is ok but he's not as good as Allison" or "You should hear that song being played by ..." Oh man, so sad... such ignorance... Led Zeppelin is the truly the #1 Rock Band of all time. You can have your preference of bands, but even they will give Zeppelin their due. I love Allison, but even she will tell you that it's an honor to share the stage with Robert Plant.

  • They are backup singers to each other, over the course of the show. I saw them on 6/24 and they were amazing...

  • That's how the song is. I don't think you've heard it before have you?

It's on Led Zeppelin IV....the one with Stairway To Heaven...that normally rings a bell

  • Oh I love this very much. Beautiful video too.
