Kirk is superb---I think this one of his best performances---and its his first!!

very interesting, kirk seems so melodramatic and young. the girl antonia is a lauren bacall
look alike and what a voice. almost identical

No, it's not Lauren Bacall. It's Lizabeth Scott, who was promoted in publicity material as "The Threat" because her Bacall-ish looks and voice were supposed to make her the next Lauren Bacall.
