My pig recognized when his dinner (lettuce) was on the way after awhile. As soon as the drawer in the fridge opened, he'd go nuts squealing, like at 2:07. While he ate, he'd chirp and chirp like "life is good."

Woo! I've got 4 guinea pigs! Love them all. They're around six years old...all they do is sit, eat, and poop all day :P

But my pig is like a mixed breed. She's black with spiky hair sticking up everywhere. Bad hair day!!! :D

@10Cudles10 it's best for them not to be alone, although I've found that males tend to fight sometimes. If they fight though separation isn't always the best idea. Let them decide who's boss- unless they're really going at it!

I LOVE guinea pigs! We always had a couple when I was growing up. You just can't beat their personalities. We used to get them out in the hallway with our rabbit and cat between toddler gates and let them all hang out. My roommate just got a couple for her 6-year-old daughter after a trip to Peru, and she made the mistake of joking that she should have bought a few there because they sell them at the butcher shop for cheap!

I got my first guinea when I was 11. His name was lynny. Then I bought a girl name Rama. I didn't know lynny was a boy at the time, they had 3 girls, rizmo, ezzy, cookie, and a boy, mamba. @runahgate It is recommended to get two or more guinea pigs because they are social and also herd animals. If you more than one guinea pig you piggy won't get lonely but if you have one they will get lonely. It's okay if you have one guinea pig but that means you should spend more time with it as it will get lonely. I'm not saying you're not allowed to have one. But if you want to get one you should get another sooner or later. PLEASE ADOPT

I've had over twenty guinea pigs and they are among the most pleasant creatures I've been around.

But they should always, always be kept two or more. A lone guinea pig is a sad guinea pig, it doesn't matter how much time you spend with them.

Also worth remembering, is that they must have vitamin C in their food every day.

I'm a college kid and my guinea-pig died today (over 7 years). I've had her since highschool days. I cannot imagine getting another type of animal to replace her. She was so much more cuddly than my cat and so much more friendly than my all of my fish. She even thought she was a dog and could do tricks. She was a far faster learner than any dog i've met. RIP Dory and Twix who died before her at age 6.5 years.

I have 1 guinea pig named Hershey but when we went back to school she got lonely so we got another one at petco for $5! They said she was a female, so we went back the next day to pick her up we even asked them to check if it was a female they said yes so I called her minipan cause she was fat like a panda. Ends up that $5 guinea pig was a male. SO DON'T GO TO PETCO!!!! We had them check minipan several times before we brought him home and they all said he was a female.
