Ahhhh, this is all so true. :) I loved it. Movie unities make me absolutely giddy and it truly makes the movie seem 10x better. I hate when the movie theater audiences are dead throughout the whole movie. No emotion, no laughter, no tears. And then when it's actually a good movie and it ends, nobody claps except for me....

The "That's What She Said" unity. As inappropriate and immature as it sounds (and is) it's also a ton of fun. This type of unity usually occurs in a situation where it would be completely inappropriate to say anything. It starts when a person, usually in a postion of authority, says something that could be taken another way. You get it, and it's obvious someone else gets it, and you make eye contact.

Blackouts do rock. When the east coast(USA) went dark in august 2006 I believe, it was great. Everyone was outside talking, partying, having a good time. No lights, no motor cars, not a single luxury. etc..etc.. it was as primitive as could be. And it was great! What a time of togetherness for the communities.

Years ago, I went to see There's Something About Mary in Lucerne, Switzerland. The movie was in the original English, with German and French subtitles.

At several points in the movie, every one in the theater, except me, would burst out laughing, obviously in response to a joke in the subtitles at a point where no joke appeared in the original movie. There were also several times where I alone burst out laughing to some joke that didn't translate well.

Another disaster unity is fire alarm unity. When there's a fire alarm and everyone in the building goes outside, whether at home or work, you end up talking to people who you have never talked to much before. It's a strange phenomenon.

my favourite unity is when you're in Detention, and the person next to you (clearly in detention too) is giggling with you because the teacher has something in their teeth, or a 'glomp me' sign on their back (which was most likely put there by me =P). I also love it when you jump out of the window to scare the teacher that you've disappeared when they've not been looking :)

my favorite kind of movie-watching unity is "free movie showing at the student union" unity. Because you don't have to be excited and/or knowledgeable about the movie; you just show up, and everyone gets so excited for no particular reason. I experienced this with Across the Universe. I have to say, when the football players were prancing about and that cheerleader was walking through them and singing "I want to hold your hand," the audience was laughing harder than I have ever heard before!

I understand that feeling. Happens me sometimes. An example was in High School, were there was only four other kids in school who wore fashioncore. We didn't know each other, but we could sometimes just say "hi" or look at each other in that "yeah, we have the same clothing style, f*ck everyone else". It was actually quite fun :)

Yesterday, I experienced grocery store unity--standing in line with my mother, and the cashier had to change out her register tape, and the supervisor had to come over and it took FOREVER, and all of us in line (a lot) graoned st the same time.
