  • This is one of the most rocking songs in history I love black sabbath and i loved this tribute album all the songs on it were epic all the bands doing the tribute were gods of heavy metal

  • This collaboration doesn't get old.

  • intro is epic

  • I RESEMBLE THAT REMARK AAAAAAAACK !!!.......

  • I tripped ballz to this....

  • Reznor literally walked in to the studio and Al said, hey, you want to sing this?

  • THIEVES AND LIARS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • The openingg picture can get you laid.

  • HOW many homo DJs??

  • fuckin genious! yeaahhh!!

  • i love it when i forget about this song then come back to it 2 years later and get those chills done the spine!!!

  • the origin of name is when he played demos for Wax Trax! co-owner Jim Nash, Nash replied, "No one's gonna buy this. It'll take one thousand homo DJs to play this for one person to buy it."

  • Oh fuck sound!

  • put acid in your vein...

  • I remeber moshing the fuck out to this followed closely by RevCos "Beers! Steers! & Queers" back in the 90s... Good Times :)

  • love this song..too bad trent is such a fag.

  • lovely name faggets :)

  • do you got the "hey asshole" track?

  • BLACK BOX-WAX TRACK RECORDS check it out

  • Is that Trent there looking like a homo???

  • I'd swear to god that the guy at the beginning sounded an awful lot like the freindly giant.

  • @willdewit1971 That voice was the late great Leslie Nielsen.

  • @RostovTheDark No, it is Art Linkletter, with the pitch changed to avoid a lawsuit. I was at Trax for the duration of this recording. Long live Pringles Cans and the spaces they inhabit.

  • Trent's outfit/hair in the beginning crack me up!

  • I can't decide if I like it better with Al singing or Trent.

    Both amazing

  • Just gives you an idea of what you can get with a recipe involving Al Jourgenson & Trent Reznor. Most modern stuff hasn't a hope against this........

  • @Phippstickman no modern stuff has hope against this... this is what you rehab your kid with if they start listening to bieber.

  • @Phippstickman Reznor wasn't really involved in the production of this song though, and certainly on this version he didn't even sing vocal, So really it's all down to Sabath and Jourgenson.

  • I heard that the band name comes from the fact that this song sounds like it WOULD be played by a thousand homo dj's.

  • @benspruce You obviously have no sense of talent, go back to your boy band's and leave the good music alone you loesr.

  • @RostovTheDark I hit post before I could edit my comment, sorry to have mislead you... I meant, Al and Trent were talking in the studio and the '1000 Homo' comment was said by one of them to the other, it was a joke between the two creators of the track itself, but thanks for the obvious flame.

  • @benspruce

actually former wax trax owner jim nash coined the term "1,000 homo djs..

. In a 2004 interview, Jourgensen explained that when he played demos (presumably those which became Apathy) for Wax Trax! co-owner Jim Nash, Nash replied, "No one's gonna buy this. It'll take one thousand homo DJs to play this for one person to buy it."

  • However, according to the Wax Trax! box set Blackbox released in 1994, Jourgensen and Nash were in the label's office listening to an unauthorized remix of the Revolting Cocks' single "We Shall Cleanse the World". Nash comforted Jourgensen's disapproval of the remix's existence by assuring him that it would only ever be heard by "a thousand homo DJ's."

  • LOVE, LOVE, LOVE, LOVE!!!!!!! I have this on cassette and still listen to it on a regular basis!!!!!

  • UNLESS YOU'VE MISED OUT PLAYING THE ENTIRE SABBS COLLECTION IN THE DARK WITH SOME GREAT WEED AND A LAVA LIGHT AND SOME BLACK LIGHTS YOURE MISSING OUT ON A REAL TREAT.EVEN WITHOUT THE WEED THE MUSIC IS SO EPIC YOU CAN HAVE A HIGH JUST FROM THE GUITAR SOUND.

  • @GRILLBUOY101 ALLCAPS

  • "It's fun to take a trip.. put acid in your veins..."

  • weeheehee this takes me back to highschool. make your ears bleed!

  • After all these years still the bollocks! Top stuff!

  • Just goes to show you how important the riff is... the riff overpowers the lead, but it never matters... the song just KICKS ASS... Iommi and Butler are genius'... these guys did a great job covering it...

  • With a name like 1000 Homo Djs, you can't expect much. But I honestly thought this would be much worse than it is. It's pretty cool actually. Being a huge Sabbath fan, I'm very picky about covers haha, but this isn't bad, honestly.

  • @captainmorgan555 I'm not sure but I think the name 1000 Homo DJs was sort of a joke. Reznor and Ministry weren't working under an official name and weren't sure if they would release this or not. When they did they figured that only DJs in clubs would ever like it. So they gave it a name that would intentionally provoke them. At least that's the rumor.

  • A psychonaut (from the Greek ψυχοναύτης, meaning literally a sailor of the soul)

  • Supernaut" is a song by Black Sabbath. The song evokes space exploration, but may also describe tripping on LSD. Supernaut was released in 1972 on Black Sabbath, Vol. 4

  • Comment removed

  • Supernaut Jugernots Psychonaut..

  • this is really good and interesting cover, not that last trash covers on zz top and other

  • lol It's a Black Sabbath cover by part of Ministry and Trent Reznor. That group is what makes up the band 1000 Homo DJS

  • "Practically every one of the top 40 records being played on every radio station in the United States is a communication to the children to take a trip, to cop out, to groove. The psychedelic jackets on

the record albums have their own hidden symbols and messages as well as the lyrics to all the top rock songs and they all sing the same refrain : It's fun to take a trip, to put acid in your veins"

  • ....and they ALL SING THE SAME REFRAIN :

    : )

  • Comment removed

  • Its Not SuperNaut unless you are talking about Phyconauts but it is juggernauts... just G look for KMFDM-Stray Bullet!!!!!!

  • classic rock rewritten

  • Wtf? Why does the drum part sound like def leppard and I think roxette is playing? This cover does not do justice to the mighty Sabbath.

  • @troposphere789 you're probably a pretty boring music fan to be friends with huh?

  • This is ministry cover 99%. WTF T_T

  • I am one of the 10,000 and proud to be a part of the cultural experience, viva musica

  • The band name is the epitome of WIN.

  • Its fun it take a trip put acid in your vains!!! :D

  • this is epic

  • What the fuck was that at the beginning?

  • @Glen2k1 from some old anti marijuana thing more than likely

  • This gets better with every listen

  • LOVE IT

  • NIB was a great tribute album at a time when every band on earth wasn't being covered on tribute albums. I especially liked the Biohazard version of After Forever and Halford wailing on the harp on The Wizard.

  • Shit. You fucked with the greatest metal band of all time. Fuckin' dj's.

  • I actually heard this version before hearing the original. I bought Nativity in Black because of all the bands who were on it. Of course I quickly bought all of the original Sabbath albums after that. Still, to this day, when I listen to the original version of this, I always have to include saying "SUPERNAUT!" at the proper moments in the song, because it wasn't on the original. Just something Al/Trent added to the cover.

  • @residualbill

Nice account of your memory there.

  • thank you for posting this! in my humble opinion the version on one the MINISTRY albums is even better (too many "shrooms" - can't remember).

  • i think the cover is good

  • Screw it all, skinny Trent in rolled up jeans is the funniest thing I've seen in a long, long time.

  • These guys ripped this song a new orifice...RAWK ONNN!!!!

  • I would love to upload the Trent version, but fucking WMG keeps blocking it -_-

  • @Withbleedthrewteeth Search youtube for 'wmg copyright resolve'.

  • @residualbill thanks for the tip,i did that with UMG copyrights, got myself a first strike <_<,hope it doesn't happen again.

  • @Withbleedthrewteeth I've done it with all my WMG ones and haven't had a problem yet. It's been about a year now. Now, that's Warner Music Group. UMG (Universal Music Group), on the other hand, is a different story. The one video of mine that they haven't allowed was because of NBC/Universal.

  • @residualbill Ah alright then,I guess everyone can expect the Reznor version today or tomorrow ^_^ (after I resolve copyrights hopefully)

  • @Withbleedthrewteeth Cool man! It's up to you, of course, but I hope you do! \m/

  • @residualbill Thank you,it worked! =) The Reznor version is finally up,I just hope they don't take it down in the future =/

  • @Withbleedthrewteeth Awesome! \m/

  • Whenever I buy my own football team; this is the song that's gonna play when they take the field!!

  • WHAT TYPE OF NAME IS THIS

  • Is this the one with Trent Reznor singing?

  • i could head bang to this shit all day

  • the lyrics posted at the front of this chain are wrong

  • This is all Al J.

  • oops...guess I shouuld have done some research before making a drunken ass of myself...

  • @barrydeez

You are now one my favourite people because you apologise for stuff you write on the internet while drunk. That takes class, man.

  • @revilo314 I love comments and commenting! Especially while inebriated on substances!

  • @Jonnyeck72 cum on nebie's......I know you guys are kids and shit, but there is no trent in this.....100% al....those two did nothing together ever....the name is 1000 homo dj's....jeeezus ass christ!

  • jUST REALIZED WHERE BILLY JOE STOLE THAT WICKED HOWL FROM IN HORSESHOES AND HANDGRENADES (AT 1:06)... HE RIPPED IT FROM AL (AT 6:06)!!! I KNEW IT SOUNDED FUCKIN FAMILIAR! THE BEST FORM OF FLATTERY IS IMITATION MR. JOURGENSON!

  • Thanx! I haven't heard this version in quite a few years! I have it on an old tape somewhere. This ROCKS!

  • just PERFECTAMUNDO!!! and it's a perfect cover....

  • anyone now where i can get this song

  • the best song ever on the best cd ever!!!!

  • New to the conversation. Too bad Al wasn't in Pigface.

  • STFU and enjoy the music morons! =)

  • In the cover it says that it is Al....

  • you guys are all wrong...jerry garcia and the smothers brothers are clearly the vocals on this version

  • The only thing I don't like about this version is hearing Trent say "Supernaut!" over and over. We already know it's about a Supernaut because the lyrics tell us so. Otherwise, it's a kick-ass cover.

  • I like this version and Sabbath's. Love it when that sort of thing happens. Like "(I Can't Get No) Satisfaction" by the Stones AND Devo.

  • 1.) This isn't Ministry. Not everything that has Al on it is Ministry.

2.) Just because the vocals on 2 versions of a song sound different doesn't mean they have different vocals.

3.) While people are busy being retards and insulting each other over a fucking song, anyone with a decent ear can hear that this is the version that features vocals from BOTH Al and Trent. You can hear both at around 2:40.

  • @Slimer049

"While people are busy being retards and insulting each other over a fucking song"

Yeah, I never understand that, either. For some reason, people feel the need to take one side or another, especially when cover songs are involved.

  • not trent. I know you can find Reznors version on Ultra rare trax. This is Ministry

  • Ok enough,to end everything,i have the TRUE Trent Reznor recording of Supernaut, its uploaded on my page, check it out! you will see the difference

  • Lads end of debate, this is definitely, definitely, absolutely Trent`s vocals.

If you can`t tell them apart by the voices alone, here`s another way:

Jourgensen`s version has a different sample in the middle to this one, it replaces the "T-minus 15 seconds" thing here with a sample featuring an old man rambling about "great darknesses, the center of the universe and a light that glows."

Also the intro sample is played at a higher pitch.

  • This is Al not Trent.

  • I HAVE seen Ministry perform this live. Al doesn't sound so much like TR that you would ever confuse the two.

  • If you have ever seen ministry perform this live uncle al sounds almost exactly like this recording, although it does really sound like or god and savior, trent. Still kinda torn myself on who sings in this version.

  • The recording is an overdub with both voices....

  • I would further like to state that NO SHIT TR isn't credited with this. TVT would not let him be a part of any side projects, therefore, Trent couldn't be officially credited. He isn't listed officially, but he is doing the vocals.

  • @eroticgrotesque who says

"He (Trent Reznor) isn't listed officially, but he is doing the vocals."

You're WRONG. This is NOT Trent Reznor you arrogant dog fucker.

The Trent Reznor version can be heard on the Black Box set from Wax Trax!

I have both the Black Box set and the 1000 Homo DJ's CD and Trent Reznor screeches like a barn owl on the "but I don't wanna fry" part of the lyrics.

Thats how I tell them apart.

I prefer the Jourgensen version thats here to the Reznor one.

  • @nightowl8936 Why don't you do everybody a favor and drop dead! JK do everybody a favor and post it. It's been years since I've heard it. Thanks. Anyone who thinks this is Trent must have his 2010 voice confused with his 1989 voice.

  • You are all stupid bastards. This is clearly Trent and anyone that dissents has never listened to nine inch nails OR ministry and is a faggot.

  • @eroticgrotesque who says

"You are all stupid bastards, This is clearly Trent ... "

You're the stupid bastard. This is NOT Trent Reznor, dumbass, though you sure sound like you want to suck his dick.

The Trent Reznor version seems to not be on YouTube right now, but the key line "I wanna touch the Sun but I don't wanna fry" is very juvenile and screechy when done by Reznor.

He is simply not as good at heavy metal as Jourgenson,.

Reznor is great, but his Supernaut ain't so super.

  • @eroticgrotesque have you ever listened to Ministry? this is Al,not Trent.

  • @TheShrivelled There's a compilation, "WaxTrax! Records: The First 13 Years", that is labelled specifically as the Trent Reznor version, listen to that and it sounds exactly the same as this one.

  • as for trent being a great artist...

i wont argue with you there...

but hes only as good as the GUYS who taught him.

which were al and david bowie

  • all of you need to get your facts straight...

they both recorded their own versions of the song, which were released seperately.

but this version was entirely done by al and also had trent helping with SOME of the vocals.

  • Statements made by both Reznor and Jourgensen seem to confirm the latter view. In a 1992 Prodigy post regarding "Supernaut," Reznor said, I finally told Al to redo it without me. The version that Wax Trax put out is Al, the version on the NIN [bootleg] single is me.

  • However, a dissenting group claims this is an urban legend, and that Jourgensen did record new vocals for the EP—albeit in a similar style to Reznor's initial performance.

  • Jourgensen's immediate response to TVT's ultimatum is uncertain. An oft-repeated story tells that instead of recording new vocals, Jourgensen merely ran Reznor's performance through a distortion effect to mask its identity.

  • This performance was not officially used because Reznor's label TVT Records refused to allow his appearance on the release.[7] Reznor's version would ultimately be released as "Supernaut (Trent Reznor Vocal Version)" by TVT four years later on the retrospective Black Box - Wax Trax! Records: The First 13 Years after TVT's purchase of Wax Trax!.

  • The nature of Trent Reznor's contribution to 1000 Homo DJs' records has been debated. What is certain is that Reznor recorded the original vocals for "Supernaut."

  • Trent Reznor is a very talented man. He has his music in video games (Quake, for example). \m/

  • This is not the Trent Reznor version as found on the Wax Trax! Black Box. This is from the 1000 Homo DJS ep. There is very little difference in the vocal, but there are minute details.

  • The Ep is Trent on Vocals....

    Wax Trax is Al

  • wait this is trent singing?!?

  • freaking awesome

  • good song. long live trent reznor!!!!! his voice is incredible!!!!!

  • This is Al Jourgenson on vocals NOT Trent Reznor

  • Wrong..this is Trent Reznor . Know your facts before you try to correct those that actually know.

  • Xtort4711, perhaps you could explain to me then why on the Nativity in Black CD it says that it is Al Jourgenson on vocals?

  • What do you have to say, Xtort4711?

  • Pure 100% balls to the wall ROCK!

  • is good song. no way! trent reznor is a king!! long live for the rock n" roll!!!!!!!

  • another one added to my "Black Sabbath" playlist. \m/

  • heh, i have the test pressing of this on 12"

  • I like this, the voice effect is kinda awesome and it fits the song :D

  • They had to put the effect on cause Trents record lable wouldnt let them release it with his voice so the put it through a effect machine. Theres also the other version which is Al singing it

  • homo!!

  • I can't believe how few of these lyrics I understand. I must have listened to this song 100 times.
