G40 was Supercharged originally and was taken from production.

The GTi was supposed to be the power for young adults all the way up to older blokes and the G40 was too much competition IMO as they we're really trying to make the GTi look very fast.

They should have uprated the brakes and gave it a full GTi style makeover, I think that would of been one great car!

Hehe, I used to drive mk2 Polo GT, nearly same spec, but no turbo. Man, at 680 kg and 75bhp, this could easily outrun Golf GTI, depending on road slope. I raped an A6 2.5 TDI with it uphill with no hassle. The feeling when you accelerate is scary almost. Like a missile launch, everything is shaking. You're squashed into the seat and every bump registers on the car body. Can imagine what turbo and upgrades can do to this little monster.
