I'm a tad confused. So, we should be more egoistic? And we're gradually getting less egoistic? I've always held the view that less egoism is better, and no ego is best. My justification: when I lost my ego I understood others more than they understood themselves and could help them.
What about all those commercials where the guy puts on a certain deodorant and ladies suddenly swarm him, or the coke commercials where everything in the world will turn in your favor if you drink their product, and so on?
I even see shirts on girls that say 'I love me' in bold text.
How does that fit in?
I see it more as Nietzsche's quote ' ...lies are turning weakness into accomplishment '

The ego is far from dead my man. If anything, we're more ego driven than we ever were. It's just....in our time the ego is sedated.
