But for me, it's ALWAYS going to be Celine - so fluid, dynamic and powerful and the fact that her vibrato is so perfectly spaced apart makes her performances look even more effortless. Regine can sing, but isn't a legend. Christina - she is too much of a shouter. Mariah was incredible, but her voice has weekend. Whitney story, phenomenal in her prime - a rich chest voice. Lara - Irritating screamer. Barbara - sereen, gorgeous voice.

I will say this though - Faltskog is not first..a great singer but...(btw to uninitiated: she was a singer in 2nd biggest selling band of all time after the Beatles)..and then the 'shouty/look how LOUD!! For me, an excellent singer should have a unique voice, able to hit low notes as well as high notes, able to emote the song, and able to sing the words clearly so listeners can understand what she is singing. Those who can do that are Barbra Streisand, Whitney Houston, and Lea Salonga. I really admired the latter after listening to her renditon of "I Dreamed a Dream" in Bryant Park live. Singing in a place like that isn't easy. Lara Fabian also has a wide vocal range and so does Charice.
