The only stock D-max that weighs 9K off the showroom floor would be a service, utility, plumbing, etc bed. I know this for a fact, I tow them all the time.

Newer duallies often have a GVWR of more than 10K so yes, they can weigh close to 9K. Duallies are still only 1-tons. 450s and 550s have a GVWR of 15K to 20K...

I can't speak for what Chevy's actually weigh, but my Dodge 2500 weighed 8000lbs on more than one occasion on the scales. Go out and actually weigh the truck, don't go off what Chevy says. If you weigh it, you'll know what it weighs for sure.
Isuzu and GM are not the same company, they are bonded. They just make vehicles with inerchangable parts, and they make parts for both. GM just has a bond with Isuzu like Ford has a bond with Mazda.

To all the haters saying it's not fast, get a life! Its an Allison transmission behind a Duramax: It's not made to be fast. The allison is geared to hell and back to pull dead weight, and a diesel isn't supposed to rev high at all, because it makes low end power. It was an awesome video. Try setting your redline to 3K on your gas engine with a 4 speed, go up against this truck and see who comes out on top.
if you want to tow you should gear it low..so in other words if its made to tow and geared low it should get up and go alot quicker cause lower gears make it have more get up and go but you obviously dont know shit.
That truck most likely has 410's. The allisons first gear combined with that rear gear gives an overall starting gear of something astronomical like 7.08. That truck does get up and go, but it wouldnt be AS quick getting to X speed as a lower #/higher gear would be. You also have to include the converter stall speed factor into the equation as well.

My brothers Duramax will out pull and out run my Cummins while getting better mpg. Having a Cummins is not as a big a deal as it was in early to mid 90s. Ford and GM has more than caught up, that said my Cummins has all the power I need and was $5000 cheaper.

i know of a friends duramax that just went 600 thousand miles with no repairs still runs like new and i know of an 88 cummins that has a 1,000,000 miles on it but some wont make it off the showroom floor (very unliklely) and some will go forever its just luck of the draw

14500 horses wont help much. I think after about 2000-3000 hp your tires start to disappear magically when you tap the gas pedal. your dads duramax might be able to accelerate after about 80 mph without covering the world in smoke, but it wont beat one with 1000 hp and traction

Whenever I see someone who is in the Military in the airport or at the store, I go out of my way to say Thank You for your service and shake their hand. My brothers Duramax will out pull and out run my Cummins while getting better mpg. Having a Cummins is not as a big a deal as it was in early to mid 90s. Ford and GM has more than caught up, that said my Cummins has all the power I need and was $5000 cheaper.

i know of a friends duramax that just went 600 thousand miles with no repairs still runs like new and i know of an 88 cummins that has a 1,000,000 miles on it but some wont make it off the showroom floor (very unliklely) and some will go forever its just luck of the draw

14500 horses wont help much. I think after about 2000-3000 hp your tires start to disappear magically when you tap the gas pedal. your dads duramax might be able to accelerate after about 80 mph without covering the world in smoke, but it wont beat one with 1000 hp and traction

the only reason they put a new gauge in there is cause the customers while tower the it would throw it up to 4000 rpms and would freak the duramax owners out thinking there gonna blow there engines but the motor was built for 4500 rpms

when you really use a diesel for what its supposed to be used for, pulling towing, torque is what counts. Chevy Duramax has the most torque available in a heavy duty pickup- 660 lbs

LOL nope they don't put the Caterpillar in the king ranch, they don't pass the passenger car emissions the fed has out. Plus a custom chassis would have to be made to fit that body on a frame to hold that motor and the one of 15 different transmission configurations you have choices of. If you put it in yourself it would be believable but Fords liability alone would prevent them from putting it in there. Nice try though. Funny that the 650 and 750s have a choice of the cummin's motor hehehe.
