So did Ken Levine just get ticked that nobody played SS2? Why else import practically the exact same writing, characters and plot reveal into Bioshock?

Another point I'd like to make (spoilers for Bioshock) is that Atlas was never a real person (I don't think he was), whereas SHODAN actually appears to have killed the person she was impersonating. A subtle difference, but it conveys the difference in quality between the stories, I think.

But it seems in order to do that, they had to repackage it as a product that appeals to the modern mainstream audience, which ruined it.

Hi fatman, I'm loving your playthrough, very skilled and well commentated, I've never played SS2 (well sort of did for the first hour of play at a friends house) and I absolutely revel in the feel of it.

Only problem, is that as it's such an old game, and me being severely hard of hearing: no subtitles! So don't have a bloody clue what the heck shodan says, but hey, sounds creepy and megalomaniacal!

Do you know whether there's a subtitle patch anywhere? Or even a script at the worst?

@LIANG14 I don't know anything about subtitles, but I've definitely seen some transcripts somewhere. I don't know if it was for the whole game, but I have seen some.

Hi Fatman. Im an avid gamer&have been4many years. Along with a love of games another character trait of mine is being shit with money. I had to sell my nice PC to pay some debts. Since now using a relatively weak laptop by modern standards I thought it was the perfect opportunity to go back and play classic games Id missed through the years. Ive just completed Starcraft&am onto Broodwar. next up is SS2. Its likely ill only play it once. Which class would you suggest as a once through man?

Yay! i have finnaly caught up with you ASFM, I only started watching them after part 9 came out, so yeah, here i am. Heres a few Q's i have. 1) what does the orange bar that appears between nodes in hacking mean? 2) Do you think that the BS big daddies rip off the big robots from SS2? they have similar designs. 3) Have you ever played through SS1? Aside from that, keep it up!

@Koopsas Those orange bars just appear when you have formed a connection between two lit up nodes.

They may have been thinking of a large, tough, robot-equivalent enemy when they began designing the Big Daddy, but the BD is so far removed from the robot in SS2 that I don't think there's any rip offery there. Besides, the big robots in SS2 are just taken from ED-209 in RoboCop, probably.

I have played SS1. It's a great game, but so old (and SS2 is so good) that i won't play it again.

Edge is a magazine I initially hated as they gave most games lower scores than anywhere else. It seemed like they were deliberately slating games in a Simon Cowell kind of way but the more I read of the magazine the more I realize that the reason for this is just because it is a magazine of great integrity and is completely unbiased. You might be happy to know that they gave 'The Condemned' a 6/10 and the sequel a 5 lol

It was upon reaching this point of the game, that I lost an enormous amount of respect for bioshock. Even though it copied over a load of ideas from the very start of the game I was still expecting the plot to go in a different direction at some point. The brilliant shodan made me realize how little originality there was in bioshock as regards the story and everything else. I hate the way most reviewers didn't even point that out!

Man, Shodan's voice fucking creeps me out, what a great voice it is. I wonder if Shodan was the first AI to become megalomaniac like this? Probably not... but it's pretty well made either way, it's very obvious that it inspired GlaDOS etc
