  • I am sorry but that sucks, nothing new only the same nerds.

  • the guy who's running the laptop is pretty cute

  • Mac OS + iOS wins this hands down

  • chrome os cant do shit

  • traditional desktop application? How about Photoshop/Gimp? Movie editors? Sound and song editors? I use those a hell of a lot. What about a simple game like Stepmania or Marble Blast? I bet Google Chrome cannot do that. Maybe they have solitaire, so 50% of computer sh!t-heads can be happy. Not me, still never getting it. (But it was interesting to hear what they're plans are.)

  • @MrOsorum

    No they're not.

You can make a gaming PC for $800 that will max out Crysis 2, Arma 2, Bad Company 2 ect at 1080p

$2000 is only if you want 3 monitors or something....

  • i love that!!!

  • but can i play minecraft?

  • ....can you burn dvd's on chrome laps? XD

  • "The next step is for you to...read the terms and conditions"

*click's agree without reading the terms and conditions*

  • @cjschrisAU lol

  • while the video is buffering press some arrow keys to play snakes!!!

Thumbs up so people will see.. :DD

  • Ok so wheres the Operating CD I can buy to replace my system??!!

  • 26:29 , ooo u see that? windows... thats remote desktop or app shareing.

  • how can i play directX games on chrome..? its 50% of my PC use..

  • what happens when i find a random picture on a website and want to save it? how does one do this on chrome OS

  • love my CR-48, thanks Google :) i cant believe how little i use my desktop and laptop PC anymore

  • 1:33 Dà dà dà doom...

  • Chrome OS is like a big version of Iphone, but much much cheaper.

  • Phenomenally Incredible.

  • every application for the web is a application for chrome os

that inludes pretty much EVERYTHING! from gaming (quake2 !) to workstation to music (youtube).

they are right. the pc nowadays is an old machine that hasnt changed for centuries. its not up to date anymore.

also chrome os is going to have a huge impact on the economy. think about the thousands of companies switching to cloud workstations. no more admins! lol

  • @Frudler Hate to break it to you, Admins != helpdesk for morons like you. Who exactly do you think will be keeping all the cloud servers up and running efficiently? what about the network itself, fiber etc.....

    keep dreaming...

  • What about gaming lolzzz..........

  • how much??????????

  • want a chrome netbook!

  • one word ! wow

  • guest mode=PoRn MoDe

  • wait so you can print anything using any device connected to that netowrk right? but what about the printer being off and stuff? can someone plz tell me?

    Thank You

  • @MrK89312 then it wouldn't work dah,

  • @MrK89312 many new printers have wireless even when its "off", so it'll automatically turn "on" when you tell it to print, unless its unplugged...then your fucked

  • I was chosen to get a chrome notebook, but I live in Europe, damn!

  • lol I'm on one of these right now :)

  • 0:42 Yeah, I can't think of any applications except for Microsoft Office(Word, Excel, Power Point), Adobe Creative Suites(Photoshop, After Effects), World of Warcraft, AIM, Windows Live Messenger, Mozilla Firefox, iTunes...

  • @GreanEksitSine He is talking about Applications not Programs you fool

  • @WeblogMaster12 All of those are considered Applications(although in some cases are called Programs). Though it should be pointed out the two words are mostly synonymous.

  • @GreanEksitSine

People who care about quality of their works won't care about laptops. Everything you use on a laptop that makes sense on a laptop is available. BTW chrome has office applications.

  • @GreanEksitSine well, heard of citrix partnership with google?

  • @GreanEksitSine what he meant was a hundra percent desktop app. All of the apps you mention has web integration...

  • jailbreakers given credit by google staff, awesome.

  • RockMelt - Your Browser. Re-imagined.

A chromium based web browser with Facebook and twitter integrated, and the option to integrate web feeds. It’s only in beta at the moment but check it out & support it!

  • Man, if Microsoft did the same, I mean stripped down Windows to have only IE + Bing and asked users to use their cloud services and give all their info for their cloud storage, they would get universally panned, their would be lawsuits up the ass by EU and others. With Google - all fine. Talk about double standards.

  • @Vikruntasas Fine by me cause chrome does not suck and neither does Google search or their web apps. Also you have to bear in mind the reason MS got penalized was abusing their monopoly, which Chrome OS does not have.

Their search engine has monopoly. But even in their own browser they allow people to choose their search engine after a fresh install. Not a double standard, they are different issues.

  • @hectixx Not a monopoly yet. But Windows allows you to install another browser. Chrome OS doesn't. And that IS a definition of a monopoly.

And Google web apps kinda suck. Not all but most of them. For me at least.

  • Put this on a tablet, add adobe flash player to it, make it fast and easy, and I can possibly see an iPad killer.

  • @themanicR That's Why Google And Samsung made Galaxy Tab which runs Android 2.0

  • If Google or any other company wasn't doing things like this, then you won't see much change happening in the computing world. One thing I think some people might gripe about is that any Linux distro doesn't work with Netflix because they use Microsoft Silverlight, and Linux just has Moonlight, a open source version of Silverlight. Hopefully Netflix will make it available for Linux eventually.

  • heres the video stating they are deploying 1gb for homes...theres a few more...google it. /watch?v=wusklcNKDZc

  • No matter where you are, no matter what you use. Your data and apps are always with you. Secured and ready. Fascinating.

  • This is an amazing product for people that want somthing fast. This will easily beat the ipad

  • Mac boots and resumes instantly. And installation is a one time thing for those who know what they're doing. It seems like a good idea, but the fact is, no matter who you are, you DO use other applications. So unless Adobe and Microsoft and everybody else makes YET ANOTHER version for this OS, this may be useless once you need something other than a web browser.

  • @rifall What matters is that once all the most used apps on Windows/Linux/Mac are made into web apps, then this will make the most sense, and will be valuable to alot of people.

  • @themanicR A lot of people (read: facebook whores)

  • MICROSOFT PUT A 15 YEAR OLD BOY IN PRISON. This is a chance to redeem yourselves and leave Windows behind. Fuck you Microsoft; really, fuck you.

  • So, instead of an HDD which are super cheap today and have enormous capacity and are enough for most people, Google wants me to give ALL my data to them AND pay for cloud storage and bandwidth. Plus this thing can't be used for anything heavier than viewing web pages.

So instead of having my data locally , which can be stored fast and accessed fast, I'll have constantly upload, download and re-download stuff.

Sorry but Chrome OS is nothing but buzzes and waves for me. See what I did there?

  • @Vikruntasas Your comment made me realize how much this is going to SUCK. I decided to give this a thumbs down since I do not like the idea.

  • @Vikruntasas The Cloud storage he's referring to is like Google Docs to store your documents, Gmail to store your emails, Picasa web albums to store your pics, Dropbox for your files. That is cloud storage. Cloud means internet based storage. Google isn't the only company that charges for cloud storage. Amazon does, and Apple does too. Bandwidth? Are you referring to verizon 3G? My gateway netbook has the same thing, but I don't use the 3G, I use the wifi. Same can be done with Chrome OS.

  • "a traditional desktop application, which is scaled to millions of the users. Very hard to name even one."

Wait a se...oh....oh yeah that is actually tru..... are you f*cking kidding me?

  • @TheDechoi Photoshop, Microsoft Office, and Eclipse come to mind... but this is only because he didn't say "hundreds of millions," which would be quite true. Facebook, on the other hand, has done precisely that. If Facebook weren't a web app, it would never have succeeded. People don't want to deal with that crap anymore, and are often only willing to do so when there's no web alternative.

  • you guys need to look for google video stating theyve teamed with the US government to provide free or extremely affordable broadband internet to every home in america in the near future...building our roads and freeways in america is what made us a prosperous country...this can get us out of our recession/depression...so what if they have access to our data...well have access to the internet so our children can study at home...to buy items we normally cant get locally...it has more pluses

  • @rehndawg what is that video?

  • It's time to dump microsoft once and for all...does anyone know if this is linux based...shame if it isnt...i once used to dream linux would topple microsoft...i remember the old picture of the mighty penguin roaring at bill gates.

  • @rehndawg I think it is Linux based. This is the Linux/Chrome i have been hearing about

  • @rehndawg I am all for Microsoft being toppled, but not if it means Google practically owning the internet.

  • @rehndawg This is Linux based. Just been tweaked to run just Chrome and some extra bells and whistles. That's what is so great about Linux. You can create your own flavor of Linux for free as long as you give credit for the kernel.

  • @themanicR thanks for getting back to me...i already signed up for the pilot program...finally ease of headaches for admins

  • @rehndawg One thing I do see right now is that if this takes off in the enterprise world, you won't see as many IT guys working at some businesses. Why would you need alot of IT guys to maintain a bunch of notebooks that just run a browser?

  • @rehndawg I signed up twice for the Pilot Program. As a developer and as a casual user. I'm hoping to have a Web App for Chrome users by the middle to end of next year.

  • its time to start learning how to program python guys...time to dump dll hell...microsoft will finally be toppled...so many jobs will be lost lololololol...im sticking with cisco and juniper...glad i have cisco certs instead of microsoft

  • its time to start learning how to program python guys...time to dump dll hell...microsoft will finally be toppled

  • Ctrl+Shift+N

  • I can't study any more chemistry tonight, are there any college men looking to please a lady?

  • hey txt gift b4 youtube

  • Why are all the people at google indians. What happened to diversity?

  • hmm... no adobe no starcraft 2 no itunes no final cut no bittorrent no vlc no handbrake... just chrome... wtf man... people do more then work... and html5 only apps only? wtf... no thanks... and pay a 3rd party to play games and take up my more of my stressed bandwidth? really? but i can see this being useful for a large enterprise but not for personal users....

  • @hayashiyuuzen it would be help full for me because i need a net book that boots fast and if i need to do anything else i will go to my desktop.

  • @420istoday lol... but there are solutions to that already! haha... for web browsing my iPad and iPhone settles most of it and more.... not sure if those cim interfaces work though... but most of my school scheduling and stuff are done thru google's apps... i see no purpose in developing new laptops for those features... tablets perhaps... but no way will i get a laptop just for that...

  • @hayashiyuuzen apple and Microsoft are essentially doing the same thing

  • @magma4ert precisely! microsoft and apple are providing that on top of their current products which makes it a plus to get!

but.... are you really gonna get a mac with just mobile me and no osx? no way! if that were the case we're all be better of with iPads stead of macs...

  • @hayashiyuuzen right on

  • can you use proxy on this... if not this computer is shit.

  • @boxersanthem Yes, you can. Go to Chrome preferences, Under the Hood, and change proxy settings.

  • this looks awesome for old people, work and girls...

  • i would really like if chrome os has option to resize tabs like opera allows you to. and also how does it connect to wifi for different users with different WPA credentials?

  • Chrome OS would be amazing on a tablet. I hope Google notices this and creates a tablet running chrome OS, not android.

  • Most of the time I spend on my PC is for games or specific applications (3D modelling, video editing, etc), and I think I'm a modern user. How does Chrome OS help me?

  • @P0IS0N Chrome OS doesn't. Chrome OS is obviously for web heavy users like..most of the people I know

  • @Jimbahiya Do none of your friends use skype? Or iTunes?

  • @randomenglish Yeh I get what your saying, but this laptop isn't meant to replacement your home computer. Yeah I use itunes + torrents, but that's like 5% of the time. For the 95%, this computer would suit me just fine

  • @Jimbahiya useless for gaming - Still stuck with windows -_-

  • Porn mode sounds cool

  • bad 4 gaming

  • But can it play minecraft?

  • 4:13 I compared boot up times if that helps. :-p youtu.be MWueQkyewiY

  • The whole PC vs. Mac thing is gonna end...with google winning XD go google :D

  • I think it's cool what google is doing with this OS, the only thing I'm unsure of is how it will stack up against OSX machines. They address Windows' pitfalls a lot, but not much google

  • Got mine today while I was at work. This thing is awesome.

  • @michaelsonp If only I could get one.. *SOBS*.

  • @michaelsonp so jealous right now... up yours

  • What if you have no internet access? Are you limited to doing stuff like NOTHING?

  • @ric2b Some of the Apps can be accessed offline. In America at least, Starbuck's, the libraries, Universities, and now McDonald's (among others) offers free wifi. You could get a data plan, and have internet on the go. If I didn't have the internet, I couldn't do half my stuff. What if you have no electricity? Your computer is a paper weight. It's the 21st century.

  • @korwinblue Unless things have changed, McDonald's wifi is not free. You have to pay for it. I was once a manager at a couple McDonald's a few years back, and it wasn't ever free.

  • @themanicR I'm sure in some areas, things are a little different, but the McDonald's I went to last month offers free wifi.

  • @ric2b Thats why there's at least a little 3G built in! FOR FREE!

  • @foxh8er Yes, but you're there's no guarantee that you'll always have coverage...

  • i think its not good that there is no parental controls

  • Kernel != OS???

  • @Carrera1123 a kernel is part of the OS

  • What I dont get is, instead of using the guest mode, why can my friend not just log on with his google id and have all his stuff, then 'delete' the account from the laptop?

  • @pranavtulsian You could do that. He only gave a real world example to introduce guest mode.

  • LOL even HE didn't read the terms and conditions hahahaha

  • 3:48 "zero to done in less than 60 seconds" Its like they don't want you to read the terms and conditions. I mean it takes a long time to read terms and conditions.

  • Acer? Awwwww shiiiiiit. Why couldn't they pair with Asus?

  • I am not sure how I feel about this.

  • No thanks... I will sitck with my computer with a full operational system and all my files.

  • @TyPaen good for you, you're more mature than 90% of the people here, next time just refrain from telling the world what they don't care to hear, and you'll get an A+

  • One question

What will appen the day terrorist start to think about boombing data server or the US enter in war on his own soil

Will my data will be in danger?

If I run a compagny and ALL the hard work is stock at google dataserver or any other "clound" dataserver. If those dataserver fail. Or data is lost. Can I sue their ass. Or I am left with nothing.

  • @hdzsound What will happen if you didn't adopt the cloud, and a fire breaks out at your office? Or somebody breaks in?

  • @korwinblue

responsible enterprise, normally backup their data on daily base, else where anyways

    so,..

  • @hdzsound Oh, you're talking about something bigger. Well, IDK, it's not like Google is the first to offer a backup service. And Google, being a responsible company, would have their servers backed up across the globe.

  • @hdzsound i dont think terrorists would be interested in your data o_o or anyones that isnt goverment .if you have data you dont trust to stay in the cloud then dont put it in the cloud and use something else

  • @BlakeGoodwell

    than terorist are stupid.

cuz, attaking my data, and your, is the new war

  • @hdzsound you know america actually started the war right? o-o

  • @BlakeGoodwell

    there is no war!!

    it's a mirage

to keep young man busy, and to keep our mind busy

  • smartphones > netbooks

  • BULLSHIT

  • It's just sad because I can't have it in Malaysia. I really wanna try it.

  • @DennisHou132 Just download it from some were, but it sucks anyway..

  • Please, Please Google pick me!!! I swear to use the notebook all day, everyday and give constant feed back. Please, Please!!!!

  • google has vision that normal people do not..they are building the web for the future..i believe cloud computing and everything will be done on the web...look at online games, social networking site, utube etc..most of the things we do is on the web..i believe web3.0 is even more exciting without doing the search urself, the web will give the answer and the future is what google envision it..with html5 and future technology...doing everything online is the way to go... :)

  • Comment removed

  • @garylinsg u mean, the Veb of the future

  • But..but,at least, I can play starcraft on my old laptop...

  • why does google get to fucken have 35 minute clips for??? fucken fascists

  • @tc4101 they dont let normal ppl to upload large files, because then theyre going to upload illegal movies

  • @crasherball Yeah thats the reason. Of course they don't want to get sued lol.

  • @tc4101 Becouse they own youtube, those assholes did buy youtube. But you can also get 35 min*** if you where a partner

  • @tc4101 because they don't put videos of monkeys riding on pigs and pandas sneezing, they don't put stupid crap like the rest of you do

  • This guy looks like Raju Rastogi!

  • Is it just me or does this seem like an iOS but in Netbook form?

  • @juggerknot9 Just you. It's very different.

  • NO CAPS YA !!!

  • @1800Supreme there is caps, you just double-click the shift button, that's why there's a light beside it

  • to everyone saying how you cant do gaming and doing such things that require actual files on your computer:

these are basically an even moree watered down version of a netbook that is strictly for internet use and editing of simple text files and such.

but you guys are right that you do lose many capaabilities computers already have, but some just dont want/need that :b

  • very interesting. only failed to explain how users who enjoy watching DVDs, listening to music, open files in their pen drives would do these things in a Chromebook.

  • @HelvecioDR watch movies online, listen to music at sites such as grooveshark or pandora, and the files are all online now instead.

  • @HelvecioDR you can do all those things with the chromebook, most people don't need to be explained how to do that, and who even uses dvd on laptops anymore, almost every movie is on the web for free... just look up letmewatchthis or something

  • @jim0watkins I think the major problem of Chrome is precisely in its difference: I know you can do almost everything online but have some things that you need an offline support. How do I edit a document I have saved on removable media? Or how can I open my pen drive and move, copy files or organize it by connecting it to a Chromebook? These are my questions. And things are simple and essential, and so far, I have not heard none of this is present in the operating system from Google.

  • @HelvecioDR the whole point is that you don't need a pen drive, you just edit your files online... but if you're intent on having a pen drive anyways, there is a port for it, and if there's a port for it, there must be support for it... otherwise people will mention that during the 'pilot program' and they'll fix it before the official release.

  • That is not a computer. Not able to do what a PC can. I can say Mac is better than this. What are they thinking. What if someone has a file they want to edit. Uh oh internet is gone. WTF. It's only internet. Mod, games, customization. Out the door.

  • @Madblaster89 who cares about that crap? 90% of pc buyers aren't gamers moron

  • @jim0watkins DAMN U JUST GOT TROLLED

  • I can't deal with cloud service. No I can't do it. I need my files on me. I need my games. This sucks.

  • I really hope they arent trying to push this to be the only type of os they want everyone to use.

Firstly alot or programs rely heavily on mods, program dont do what you want it to do? people learn to code and mod it accordingly. then developers recognise that and build those functions into the base of the next program.

If the internet started out like this we would be nowhere because you can only go so far as to what they give you.

IMHO this is just for buisness, children or facebook maniacs

  • That guy helped me fix my internet yesterday on the phone.

  • When he was talking about offline stuff around 10 minutes, my network went down. I blame him. :D

  • lol jailbreaking built in ... steve jobs just barfed

  • thats a racist comment.

  • @mickjen

If you didn't send off for a Chrome sticker via the Chrome Facebook page, we've got bad news for you: those stickers are attached to Chrome notebooks and they're being shipped to some very happy Facebookers. Don't despair, though, because there are other ways to get on the programme provided you live in the US.

  • "same experience everywhere"

    Catchy.

I NEED a chrome notebook. I literally use almost nothing but the Chrome browser on my laptop.

  • So no heavy 3d apps?
