  • lol thats some funny stuff

  • Love it!!! I am a piano tuner... Just laughing from the begining to the end!!!

  • this is awsome!!!

  • this is so funny

you remind me of my guitar teacher rick

  • Look like a brainsurgery. lol. I wont reccomend ppl to do tuning yourself, if you only knew how much technical work there is in it. This tuning will never held not even 1 month before its all swinging again. lol

  • this guy knows whats up

  • @ 0:30 Ouch

  • "What's up with the monkey theme, right here?"

    OMG! HAHAHAH!

  • You know, the funny thing is that I was actually and seriously looking for a video that taught me how to tune a piano 'ceause I really need it... And I find this. Now I can't stop laughing. Hahaha. Life is a weird thing.

  • OMG... Everytime I'm in a cranky mood I watch this video. LOL.

  • This dude is so messed up, wtf !! If you bought less alcohol maybe you could afford a piano tuner, not to mention real beds and clothes that fit for your kids! 'ye, gimme sum of dat chikin action!'

  • you're dumb...when you hit the laptop screen with the piano tool i don't know why i continued watching...

"lets see if some alcohol is gonna help" like, get real...seriously...loser

  • I was given an old upright to practice tuning, so i thought I'd get a jump on the tuning process. This is my first attempt at getting a bit of instruction. So I tuck the kids in to bed, watch this video and had to just laugh out loud! 4:58 " Look at thoughs guys they're gettin' jiggy, ya, shake it" 5:13 "pig is like ya, gimmie some of that chicken (pause) Action, pussy cat." Too funny, this guy is great, I want to have a few beer with him. As for the tuning, I'm feeling thirsty for a beer!

  • ha ha, daddy's an alcoholic:D joke

  • You should become professional , not at piano tuning , but entertainment ,

  • spooky

  • Ugh...I hate the way Americans say "toon"...it's disgusting :/

  • One of the best videos on youtube! I love it! I want your autograph!

  • brilliant

  • Haha, I love this video so much!

  • Hopefully he'll get a web redemption. I submitted this in to Tosh.0

  • This is a comedy video. Do some of you guys think he doesn't know exactly what he's doing? It is hilarious.

  • LMAO!! So funny!

  • haha, i wish i was friends with this guy :P

  • LOL xD U are hilarious omg ur awesome !

  • I'm interested in learnng how to tune a piano.. Can you tell me what specific brand of drink I should use? And is it all right to start with only two bottles a session?

  • Очень хороший художественный фильм про ночного настройщика пианино. Автор прав, что без бутылки и творческого вдохновения работа настройщика может превратиться в ад. С уважением, maxim_tuner.

  • Alright Mr. Dowzit, I admire your efforts, and in order to gain experience and avoid accidents, I would like to ask you a couple of questions:

    1) Where did you buy the piano muter things? (Those that mute the strings so you can tune them one at a time).

    2) When you use the mute things, do they sort of bend the strings a tiny bit when you tune them? Or do they not push the strings at all? Because if they do, they can actually distune the piano... :(

Thanks in advance, that helps!! ;)

  • lol, I knew where this was going, i have been tuning for 20 years now, and your not alone, I have had to "retune"-repair- after they break stings, many times. great video, very funny. not as easy as one might think.

  • OMG,,,I LUV THIS VID...LMAO

  • lol... u talked me into hiring a professional tuner, i'll watch and drink beer.

  • informative and hilarious!

  • "Alright, I'm back at it... I think it might help if you have some alcohol to this process" LOOOOL hahahaha

  • A good tuning Hammer willl cost several hundred dollars, but will be well worth the expense because they will last a long time.

  • HAHAHA This is hilarious!!!! Im a tuner/tech and this is funny:)

  • This video goes to my favorites right now.

  • "This thing costs 50 bucks... I don't know why are they so expensive... But these things costs a dollar... Whatever"

    Hilarious!

  • i found it easy to take the hammer apparatus out with the 3 thumb screws and pluck the strings with a jewlers screwdriver. If your desparate and don't have a tuning hammer, an allen key and the back of a 1/4 inch drive will turn the peg. used a tuning program on android phone called DaTuner. once i took the hammers out i found much more room to pluck the strings. it will take approx a day and a half.

  • The theme song to the Benny Hill show should be playing to this video.

  • Ok that was funny. Tweaking the wrong on G&* Damn it !

He I appreciate the effort, I am a improvisational tuner also.

  • Does anyone knows what is the name of this Tuning app? I was looking for it but i still havent find it yet... Please help me

  • @MrEdsonRosa Its a plugin within Logic Pro (a digital audio workstation, like cubase or pro tools?)

  • @MrEdsonRosa Yeah, it's not a tuner app. I use Apple's Logic Pro for recording music. It's a built in tuner that comes with the instrument presets. It might look cool, but a cheap handheld tuner is just as effective.

  • This is hilarious. "totally worth the $115 dollars" hahaha

  • Logic is a great recording program but not really ideal for tuning pianos. What people do not realize is that every piano's "stretch" is different; they must be tuned to themselves using the A=440Hz as the starting reference pitch. I remember my first time tuning a piano.....lol

  • you sound like a professional who would want to discourage enthusiasts from having a go at tuning. That's not kind, uncalled-for, and the acting is average ^__^

  • @Nerdimtar I think he is just making a point that tuners are worth paying for when the piano is used for lessons and not as an experiment. There are so many variables and it is not a hobby for everyone. People pay good money for music lessons and it would be nice to have the piano sounding good in the same budget.

  • dang, wish i had cereal and a wife.

  • hahahahahaah great watch

  • $200 ?

  • A tip for you. When you use the tunor to tune piano, it could not be just the same HZ as the standard one. A good tuner knows how much difference to leave.

  • DIY tuning gives you lots of hours of fun.......also dissonance

  • this is comdey yeah?

  • Oh, shit. That piano tuning biz, looks really complicated!

  • what the software you use for tuning ??

can you give me the download link ?

  • @uknget tunelab is the standard. It does an "okay" job but hammer technique is still important.

  • what the software you use for tuning ??

can you give me the download link ?

  • My former boss from Steinway in NYC emailed this to me today,

    "Future looks bright"

    Good stuff, man!

  • "Sup with your bro?"

    HAha love your attitude dude

  • Smacks his laptops screen 0:29 so funny!

  • Hilarious ;o)

  • You really are useless.

  • Ive never tuned my grands and piano's with a flash light, but still i thing you are a brave man to just give it a try!!! Respect! what is the program you are jusaing on your mac?

  • lol, btw that tuning hammer you have is super shitty, good ones cost over 300. and did you ever hire a tuner ?

  • @colemantwebster Oh yeah, hired a super shitty tuner for $70. I should have taken a video of that too.

  • @colemantwebster- a quite good tuning hammer is about $150. A carbon fiber tuning hammer is over $300...and in my (actually) professional opinion, not worth the hype.

  • well that's a nice challenge, but I know this is a real job, you can't learn it in a day.

    Really funny tough;-)

  • How did it go? Hilarious.

  • @agshjdjahdlkagd It didn't go. Had to hire a tuner. So, if you want to buy my piano tuning tools... :)

  • A piano tuner thing lmao good job though

  • Hilarious! I'm gonna give it a go - but minus the booze!

  • Great video! You had me in complete stiches! Didn't expect that!!! Happy tuning. I guess you need save those bucks with the way the economy is going so good luck!

  • I'm not sure if this was meant as satire, but I thought it was hilarious. The one string and tangents and liquor... classic.

  • I break guitar strings when I tune them DOWN. So I'll leave it to a professional to tune my piano.

  • Looooooool. This was really funny. You should sharp a little so that it falls into tune when someone plays it.

  • i just like to watch this video from time to time for the sheer comedy of it.

my baby grand has been out of tune since we moved it 6 months ago. I'm too cheap to use the hundred plus bucks to have it pro tuned. One day... when it gets intolerable.

    thanks for the laughs !

  • M8, you have NO idea what you're doing do you?! lol - that A still ended up with a couple of beats per second and you're saying 'it's fine' :P

  • @flippy102 "you have NO idea what you're doing" Ya think? Completely no idea. I think I still would have said it's fine if it was half a step flat ;)

  • @dowzit HAHA lol yeah I get you.. It does take quite some time to learn how to do it properly.. That's why all tuners are old fogies.. Except me!

  • lol i got me one for 100 bucks... I should have seen yours first before I got this...I dont know where to start now.

  • bro u look like mike gordon from phish!

    nice vid

  • Out of tune pianos make me have to pee too. 3:03

  • ombfg.... wtf????

  • lol this is going to be me if i ever get my hands on one

  • thats hollywood material right there...

  • lol. i learned to tune on an old piano like that. i find that sometimes the electronic tuner doesn't quite get it right, but if ya just play with it enough it will eventually even out. Hope someday you complete it!! :)

  • @TheMasterofthepiano Fuck electronuc tuners, do it by ear!

  • :29 is hilarious

  • hahaha this is pretty funny

  • XD!!!!!!!!! that was good :) way to wake up your kids! whats up with the monkey theme in here? :P ha! keep tryin ;)

  • sounds worth the money to tune.

  • LOL!!!!!! xD that totally helped me. and it was fun watching.

  • Funny!

  • HAHAH love this guy.

douche hits the mirror thing with the wrench thing ;D

  • There are lots of people researching piano tuning online, and your video pops up right away. It is as funny as hell x 2. Thanks for the belly laugh.

  • So funny. I was taught to tune when I was 15 by my brother who had to tune pianos for my dads music store. He hated it so he taught me to do it. My dad sent me out to tune after about 2 tunings. Took me 8 hours to tune my first one with the owner sitting behind me. I tune now and am down to 1 hour. It is very frustrating unless someone shows you how. Funny funny video. Liquor can help- help you cope, not to tune though. You should be in comedy dowzit.

  • @tibosabins That's so cruel to be sent out with no knowledge! While training I whored myself out for free to get experience. Some tunings took 3 to 4 hours and as far as I knew were still shite! I now train others and would never put them in the situations I put myself in.

  • Hahahahahhaha best video ever! xD

  • I was laughing so hard when he goes into the kids room. The daughter is like what the #$# is up with the camera I want to go back to bed haha

  • This was the video I was looking for; someone failing at tuning a piano. Of course, I wouldn't even touch a peg so I shouldn't even be saying anything. Nice vid

  • lets get drunk and tune pianos!

because there is no other way.

  • @CapoeiraPiper Hahah! LOLz, totally

  • @CapoeiraPiper I love how the number of thumbs up are 21 :P

  • "u gotto go pee?" lol

  • Haha This is so good!!!! Thanks so much for posting this!!! I haven's laughed this hard in ages HAHA!!

$50 for a tuning hammer!!! I got mine for $5.78 on ebay including shipping lol!!

  • You're lucky, I just bought a piano hammer and tool kit for $140.00... I wish I would have read this comment before.

  • I did the same thing. Honestly!! 1 bottle of whisky and 60 cigarettes. I then went to university for 5 years to study piano tuning and repair. After 20 years there's no concert pianist on the planet I haven't tuned for. It's absolutely hysterical to watch your vid and relive the experience. Plumbers make better money though.

  • HA HA HA!!! I'm a pro tuner and this cracked me up. Good video.

  • this is why i prefer a electric piano/ keyboard then a acoustic piano xD got to do all that, and it will save u up money to not buy all those tools

  • funny as hell

  • where can i find the software on your laptop that tunes the piano? Before trying this myself, I want to see if the software works right. Thanks!

  • excellent job mine's is out of tune,think i'll give it a go,great tutorial v funny

  • You ARE the funniest fucker on youtube.

  • you're the funniest fucker on youtube...lol

  • As a tuner since 1982, I have to admit your video is FUNNY. Most people freak when they realize an 88 note piano has OVER 200 strings, most have 3 strings in the treble, some in the bass have 2 strings, and the lower bass has 1 string, all pianos are stringed differently, according to the manufacturer. Most beginners will break a Bass string, which are special copper wound strings that can cost OVER 50.00 each to replace. They have to be replicated exactly. I only charge 50.00 for a tuning! Len

  • I tune my own piano, it's not hard people.

  • Lol, I really enjoyed your video , it has saved me probably torture. I am a synth fan but would love a real piano, my next door neighbour has an old piano he wants to get rid of, I believed I could tune it until I saw your hilarious take on piano tuning.................he can keep it.....:)thankyou so much!!!

  • hehehehe that's hilarious man!

  • lol i think you just broke ur laptop's screen? xD

by the way, i don't play piano, just guitar. but i was wondering how often should a piano be tuned?

  • This guy is a great laugh. He's got his bottle babies and it seems a lot of time on his hands. You go boy!

  • That's exactly why i play guitar....

  • I think for many people hiring a tuning guy is not a matter of money expense but a matter of trust and such concerns, because you need to let some fellow spend quite a lot of time in a house, which is uncomfortable and the fellow could "borrow" something or pass a word to someone as whether there is anything worth borrowing

  • When you hire a professional to come into your house there is nothing to worry about. Just make sure they're a professional.

  • Because I am a professional piano technician someone sent this great video. This is a perfect example why you should never try and tune your own piano! Of Course some will say that I am saying this because we 'tuners' need the business. Not true because when this joker is done he will have to call a professional technician that knows at least something about tuning a piano just to get it reasonable. However it was a great laugh and I enjoyed it!!!!

  • I rather pay $300 than do it myself.....I know that $300 is a little to far but, thats my way of saying that I rather pay a Pro to do it.

  • Yeah, I learned the hard way. You can't do everything yourself.

  • Classic!

    I'm still gonna try though.

  • I am a pro.tuner, and want to thank you for posting this video on the net,it realy amused me a lot.You have the spirit, and curiosity to try things that you know nothing about, but, why shouldn*t you make fun to yourself on a such cheap piano, you didn*t harm anybody, and, yet, you made all of us laugh. Thanks,if I*d live little nearer to you,I*d do your piano for free.

  • Thanks babicbojan. Can't believe you'd tune my piano for free. Maybe I'll move closer to you. I managed to get a pro (although "pro" might be in question) tuner off of Craigslist to come over for $70. The higher register seems to be off, but it could very well have gone out of tune again.

  • Hi i found a professional piano tuner man that will tune ours for $65.00.Its up to you but if you spent $50.00 for that socket wrench thing and all the hassells of doing it yourself .Couldn't you find another guy whos a little cheaper or just pay$110.00 dollars sounds easier to me good luck man.

  • This is hilarious!

  • Not exactly what I was hoping for..

  • lol "some alcohol will help"

  • Thanks!!

  • the ending is hilarious

  • lol. funny guy

  • haha i loved it im also tryin to tune my piano.A guy is comeing over thursday to tune it for 80 bucks im not sure to just do it my self or to have him do it.

  • Most tuners learn the equal temperament scale and also how to tune with a strobe tuner. Tuning a piano is a fun experience. I like tuning more than playing the piano.

  • I used Logic Pro which is digital recording software made for a Mac. I would just pick up a cheap tuner online or from your local music shop.

  • What software did you use and can I use it on XP?
