"You can own the earth and still all you'll own is earth until you can paint with all the colors of the wind". This line is from the Pocahotas song. John painted in living color with all the words and lyrics from the winds of his wonderful mind.
I had ancestors who died on the Cherokee "Trail of Tears". I never heard this song before, but am so deeply touched. I, like so many others, have a longing to know more of my heritage. I only have a few words from my Grandmother when I was a small child.
The Trail Of Tears was created during the 1830's - when 46,000 Native Americans were forced to move from thier tribal lands in Georgia, Flordia and Alabama - To Oklahoma. They were forced to move and herded like cattle. About 25% died on the trip This had ALWAYS been what the United States Government wanted - as it was first suggested by George Washington!!! This opened up about 25,000,000 acres for white settlers and forced the Native Americans to live of desolate land!!!!!
If we - all Mankind - would simply band together and stop the mad bankers who are determined to overrun and destroy all others just to claim 'ownership' for Earth resources - how might OUR Earth Feel?
OMG! I'm Cherokee/Choctaw. He sang our song. Heart, pain, ALL of it sang in this one short song. Brought me to tears, could SEE it, as JD sang it. Feelings one can't describe. OH!!! This happened people, it did, to MY family. WE (my family) are still picking up the pieces. Thank you JD!!

This is the most beautiful song and video about the horrible Trail of Tears that I, as a Native American myself, have seen.
