I was there, dont remember which day, but it was awesome. does anyone else remember that Judas Priest got booed off stage when rob Halford shoved the microphone down his pants. I was up front and everybody up there grabbed stuff and threw it at them. He said F OFF and they left haveing played only a few songs. We cheered when they left. Rick derringer was well recieved and Zeplin was fantastic. Page was wearing the Black dragon suit that day.
my first concert . yeah it was a game changer snuck out of the house at midnight " borrowed" a car ( i was too young to have a license) but I knew i had to go. made it to both shows the first day was(before fight) was WAY better. I miss the day on the greens we pegged the fun-0-meter too much I guess .
I just saw the Band of Joy at Speedway Meadows in San Francisco's Golden Gate Park. I taped "Ramble On" from the hill where the acoustics were pretty good. Check it out!
@sacbeatfan What was that like???? Can you give me some details? I'd really appreciate it. I was nine when this show happened. They were the greatest rock band of all time. There will never be a better band.

I didn't think Jimmy wore the black dragon outfits after 1975. In every picture or video I've seen from 1977, other than this, he's wearing a white one.
I was at this concert. Not sure if it was Sat or Sun. I remember Page playing about a half hour accoustic solo. Zep was my "idol" back then. I was in hog heaven. I paid for this DOTG but there were times we stormed up through security, climbed the fence and dropped about 12-15 feet. Yup...crazy teen-agers. I recall slower friends being snagged by the legs by security and missing the concerts. It was all part of the rush of being a teen in the Bay Area. DOTG's, Raiders, A's, Berserkeley, L, etc.
@RockAndFunk To see the show? Yes I was fortunate to be there. From what I understand it was the last show they ever did in the US because Plants son died and they cancelled the rest of the tour.
i was there also i believe on saturday...great even with jimmy page's guitar phaser kept on going when he didnt want it to...the mighty Zep was awesome!!!
I was there on Sunday. What a great memory. . . it sure was fun:) Me & my best friend were there together and it was our second Day on the Green. We were to the left of this video. I would love to know if this is video was taken on Saturday or Sunday.
I MADE IT TO THE SATURDAY SHOW, I HAD CONCERT TICKET STUB, AND THE TEE SHIRT FOR 25 YRS, THEN CHUCKED THEM DURING A MOVE, DAM IT!!! MEMORIES AREN'T PHYSICAL, THEIR PERMANENTLY IMPRINTED AS IF WAS YESTERDAY, WE WERE PLANTED ON THE CENTER GREEN, SCHROOMS, COLORED JUGS OF BREW, AND HASH INSPIRED DOOBIES!!!
Back when real men wore hip hugging big bells and walabees....Images from a bygone era in the Bay Area....I was there that day, 17 years old....glad it was the 23rd and not the next day after the fight, Jimmy was on fire in his black dragon suit, Roberts "Nurses" shirt, JPJ in a sailors white outfit,...Does anyone here remember all the 2'-5' high bamboo bongs ???... Zep did 3 hours straight, full of energy..There will never be another Bonham..I still have my ticket stub, and the DOTG poster...
I sold my 62 chevy nova to a junkyard for 50 bucks so I could get a ticket for this show. I bought a ticket for 15 bucks and a stick of Thai weed for 20. I was 19 years old and have no regrets to this day.
@metalmot Come on my friend metalmot, this is a pretty bold statement to be making about this show. I agree that it was not better than most of the indoor venues from the 1977 tour but you cannot say that Derringer was better than Zeppelin. Zeppelin's set was memorable and I cannot remember any of Derringers? I was a fan f both of them at the time. The crowd was way to mellow and I think they were expecting more from the Blimp than what they received. The 70's were the best!
I started playing guitar because of them. I just finished recording my first demo album of "mini-songs". If you want to know what Led Zeppelin-influenced music sounds like 2010 style click on Wisztrock.
@MrLuckyGold I was there and remember them walking offstage as Bonzo began his solo. I was right up front and saw them fire up something, but figuring the both smoked cigs, didn't think much of it. It could have been, as during their acoustic set, I remember a lot of joints, vials of probably coke, and pills being tossed up to them. Page and Plant both reached for something at the same time between songs, which could have been any of the above, but who knows. Its possible.
Oh man what memories, I was at this concert and made sure to stay straight so I could remember everything. And I do remember the pantomime, it makes sense that it was Robin, I used to go see him in The City a few years later when he made it big. Those were the days. Zep will always be my favorite band, and I'll never forget that day. Sigh.......
Does anyone remember the guy doing the pantomimes (dressed in black and face painted white) out on the "green" between bands? Well, I had pictures of this guy, looked at them years later and it was Robin Williams before he made it into the big time.
I can't help it. As soon as I hear Zeppelin, I get a CARE FREE SPIRIT type feeling. Don't you? The only band that actually came pretty close to doing that to me is HEART. But then again, they're not Zeppelin. Zep is the greatest band that ever graced the stage and Jimi Page climbed the mountain while playing the bow on the guitar. He climbed that mountain 25 years ago and has been on top of it ever since. The Best of the Best. He is the man on top of the mountain. THE KING!
@JTrials31 I have to say it. I know that I should not, but Jimi Page actually impressed me just a little tiny bit MORE than Hendrix. Jimi Hendrix and Jimi Page are FAR MORE THE BEST OF THE BEST EVEN BY TODAY'S STANDARDS. Period. When it comes to guitar player, Rock and Roll shot it's load with Jimi Page and Jimi Hendrix.
@TheGreatLouMass What's my comment got to do with Hendrix, I agree I like Page better. And honestly what Hendrix did for rock was great, but their are far better guitarist's than Hendrix. Page being one of them. SRV in my opinion played all of Hendrix's tunes far better.
i gave notice to a top 40 band i was playing with for the last 3 years after being at this concert. Was this Saturday or Sunday. Changed my life. I still play mostly my own creations bABY! I think it was the last concert in America with all 4 original buds.
OMG! I was at this concert. The T-Shirt Plants wearing says 'Nurses Do It Better'.
Whoever was filming it was very near to me, behind or in front of, because I also was standing nearby that flag you see appearing in the left corner. Wow what a surprise! I mean its so close, the filmer could've been standing right beside me. Cool!
Wow....... I'm only 11 and I always feel alone music-wise at school with all these people listening to Beyonce and the Jonas Brothers, but I found some true Zeppelin fans just through reading the comments of 1 video...... wow.
Stairway to Heaven rendition @ this concert: "...does anybody remember forests?" -Jimmy Page.

Its crazy to know that the 1977 tour of Led Zeppelin would be the tour that ended in tragedy and disaster.
