what i dont get about portal is in half life 1 they clearly state that portals arent as simple as point A and point B, and somehow the portals connect to xen, the alien world featured in half life 1. so in a sense, valve didnt realize they screwed that up here so in a way everytime you go threw a portal your bringing the universe that much closer to total destruction.

Aperture science started as an experiment, purely scientific. They made science from scratch, therefore making things that couldnt be imagined. Thats the thing, in half life there are many high tech things, for exemple the gravity gun. Maybe aperture had just finished creating the portal gun before the zombies...

@legogamer98 If the table was large enough to fit the entire portal on it, you wouldn't be able to fit it through the portal. If you were to move it sideways into the portal, the table would get stuck on the side of the portal halfway through. In other words, putting a table fully through the portal is impossible.

When a portal is placed on an object, and the object moves, the portal disappears. Like in the Momentum room in the original Portal where the surface on the piston moves so you can fling yourself better.
