Can you imagine this movie out in a religius nation like1972 Italy? You have to see these movies by those years eyes my friends.Fulci was a great. He created a style long before the 80's American splatter explosion. He made movies with no-money budget.Odiens compared him and Argento but for me he dared more than Dario. This movie in particular is wonderfull. The sad thing is that he's completely forgot in Italy (except for cultors)while Tarantino loves him....Strange world.
@ciurlandon Yes. David Lynch was right. "It's a strange world".
I just bought the Don't Torture a Duckling Fan Edition with Italian language audio. It will be interesting to see this in Italian. Of all the 37 Fulci films I've seen I only own 14 of them. But soon I will own 17 of them..
@StefPhoenixOoORising Hello i dont know if it helps you but you can get loads of great fulci films downloaded from "the pirate bay" i found this, the 3 zombie movies he did sweet house of horrors and cat in the brain on there all in english language.
This ending with the falling "cyborg" priest is a real disgrace for the whole movie, which is really good. It could not have been very difficult to get rid of the sparks with hand coloring a negative for the scene and use it in the original copy, but obviously the producers didn't really care.
@Stroheim333 Its a film you know its a film if you want reality it doesnt make the film any less beautiful. I suggest if you want reality that you exit your room and go out into it. I have a feel you dont do that enough,
@237th è un film del lontano 1972! il creatore del "cyborg" è carlo rambaldi il creatore del costume di alien e di e.t.! gli effetti speciali sono visibili oggi ma all'epoca erano molto gore!
Really?!?! With such a life like expression on the thing's face how could you tell ?!?! I thought they used CGI back in 1972! I love how the rocks spark every time they sear a chunk of flesh off. Regardless this has certainly compelled me to check out this film.
this is so goddamn amazing! I laughed so hard when I saw the ending the first time. it's like Fulci thought there wasn't enough gore in the movie and decided to make everything good in the last scene.
the strange thing, though, is that this is not a bad scene. it's a BIT over the top and pretty bizarre with the cheesy music and the sentimentality mixed with the gore, but it's still a very good movie ending that really sticks to your mind.
This is one of the best movie endings ever! I find the sappy music and sugary voice over actually turns the film away from a horror flick into a really thought provoking drama.
The thing that really gets me in old 70s 80s horror films is that they play sweet nice music at scary, nasty, horrible scenes. It would always give me chills.
A priest kills young boys in an italian village in order to prevent them to get to know sin when they grow up. This movie almost put an end to Fulci's career with the Catholic Church becoming furious.
hahahhahahah. fucking pedaphile priest! Classic Fulci!! Fucked up, and injected with proper justice at the same time. Pure genius. And the background music just sets the tone. hahahahha

This scene would have been good if it wasn't for all the blood and gore. He should've just made him fall down! Not smash his face into the cliff a couple of hundred times :P
Well, they said that this movie was the precursor to the other bloody movies he was to make. They're might have not been a "Zombi 2" if they're wasn't such a scene. XP
In every ones opion, Who is the king of blood Fulci or Argento? And I'm not sliming them I both love thier work and I just want to see how many people say Argento and How many say Fulci I know there is going to be some sort of a argument.
Me and my bud always joked that Lucio had such amazing FX long before CGI and such. We always said he picked up hitchhikers and said he'd pay them to be in his movie, kill them, and video tape it in the movie. Those FX in this and in Zombie and many others are breathtaking, in a artistic way
This movie is brilliant!

This slow motion sequence with the boys playing football with the priest there reminds me of a similar scene in Almodovars " Bad Education "

That is a really silly reply. We all know there are good FXs and bad FXs, and this is obviously a bad FX. It is a very simple problem.

Fulci used the cliff scraping sequence at the beginning of "Seven Notes In Black" only with a woman, not a man.
terrapinbear 1 year ago
The music made that ending sort of bittersweet, if it weren't for that serious nose-dive off a cliff.
