Good job on trying to explain putting to people looking to improve, cccgulper. Like I said in the forums, I wouldn't be able to explain how I sink everything. Its just practice practice practice. ~ Lisa Cool Babe
Where the hell do you get your mathmatics at? Either your missing something in your explanations or you dont know math. You cant back off 10 percent and add 20 percent because that throws your angle all off. I have done this exactly as you have displayed but to no avail. I believe you are using a gameshark to accomplish this task.
Can anyone help me? I've been attempting to use this technique, however it has extremely inconsistent results. I do it exactly how it is in the video, deduct or increase the length depending on if its down or uphill, then reduce the percentage according to the speed of the green. Sometimes however, the putt will be either way to fast, or way to slow. Why is this?
@hinkypunk9: The easy answer is you're missing the hole....no matter what the speed is, you gotta hit the hole. The ball ain't gonna roll an extra five feet if it goes in, is it? Another thing could be which course you are playing. Another flaw in both the game and this formula. Different courses have faster rolling greens than others, and some slower. The break could do it too. If you have to hit farther up a hill to get the right line to the hole, you're gonna need more power.......
In the third putt, Fast Greens, you said take off 30% off 27ft... 10% of 27 is 2.7... 3 x 2.7 = 8.1 so 30% off 27 is = 18.9, but in the video you aimed it at 22 ft which is about 20%.... WTF?
I have to say, I'm not a fan of the putting mechanics of this game. On slow/soft greens you should have to hit the putt harder, not softer. It doesn't feel natural or intuitive.
I've got Tiger 02,03,04,05,06,07,08,09 but not 10 or 11..... when did this style of putting come in?
Amazing video, very well done! i just have a couple of questions: How do you know how far to the right or the left to hit the put (or is that about the "feeling" you were talking about)? And secondly, how come sometimes I can't use the putt preview (it won't allow me)? p.s, how did you figure all this out (like the percentages?)
nvm man even if it says its going to go 10000 miles away from the hole even if the marker is over the hole it still goes in you would think that be to much power and the ball would jump the hole but not on here lol.
I'm at a loss on this man help. My ball on green is lvl no slope to the pin is 25ft average conditions so I take 20% off right that be what 5ft so go down to 20 then judge on where what ball is going to go but when I do putt preview it shows that my ball is going to go like 30ft way from the hole even if the marker is going over the hole. So am I doing my math wrong or what I do suck at math lol
@CircusNormal i dont have this game so i cant help u with stating the green speed but u take the percentages off the distance after u add or subtract the distance if the putt is up hill or downhill so the percentage is NOT off the actual distance to the cup.
@CircusNormal figure the distance you would like to hit it based on elevation first. Then take OFF 10,20,30% of it...so on slow greens, if you want to hit 10 feet, take off 10% and hit it 9 feet. and to find the course conditions, click start and go to your caddy book
First take in to consideration the amount you need to hit to the hole with elevation. So if it is 5 inches above then move the marker 5 feet past the hole.
Second take in to consideration the green speed which you can find in the caddie notebook. Deduct the percentage for slow (10%) medium (20%) fast (30%) tournament (40%).
You will ALWAYS deduct the green speed. Even if the hole is below you and you are already pointing before the hole.
Bravo for posting this! I don't how or where you got the inch to foot and percentage rates for this game, but dam if there not perfect. I was going crazy trying to find/figure out some kind of system for the putting in this game. I easily missed 95% of my putting. After your info here I now land 95% of my putting. Showed me how the putting engine in this game is extremely faulty unless you know these rules and is the deciding factor in whether you'll be able to play and enjoy this game or not..
@DreadX22 sorry for the late response..you need to click the start button when in game, and go to caddy book, the green speed is the course conditions speed

What about a metric formula for us living in the rest of the world?
Maybe EA just made the putting mechanics around U.S Imperial standards, forgetting about the rest of the planet?

@TN79 you need to press circle (b for xbox) to go to caddie (zooms out to the hole) and from there you can move the yellow arrow by using the d-pad
