Ah he's still a nice guy! He's been nice to me when we've spoken, who cares about how he trains, its his physique and character that matter right? No worries, still a great olympian.
Contrary to what everyone thinks Nick is a fucking beast, I've trained at jersey shore fitness shop while he was there training and the fucker is a MACHINE! His legs aren't lagging one bit, one the other hand though Kai is a whole different type of machine, what I'm trying to say is cut Nick some slack, dude gets in the gym back home
Nick is a young and extremely talented bodybuilder who is expected to go pro in a couple of years. Ans youre saying that he doesnt know how to train properly?
although up until this point i havent heard anyone say (at least i dont recall and i usualy recall an important insight) that to be the elite you need a certain type of desperation or obsession, in other words a special kind of DRIVE that other people do not have. This i think is he biggest factor of all, to some how go past your limits and to do that almost on a daily bases, now that is some hard sht to do. Which is why even those with great talaent or potential still fail.
Kai is the most rounded athlete in the sport...physically, mentally, and just has fun with. He will het his Olympia, and 2012 can't be soon enough. Kill um' Kai!
lmfao sometimes when kai is watching this guy workout he looks tottally at an awe. like he is wondering how this guy got so big with his "bad" form. (his fomr is REALLY good, but compared to kai he looks like a total n00b.)
He trained everything first and THAN did the heaviest exercise of all - SQUATS......what is the logic in that - to go light and just concentrate on blood volume ?
@AIMANALI its pre exhaustion bro, and since every muscle group was worked and pumped individually, it makes it that much easier to connect to all those groups at once as a whole in a compound movement like squats at the end
This is crazy in my opinion... 3 hours of legs its just insane for anyone. This may not always be the best choice, a man once said "you need to kill it in the gym but now kill yourself" that was The Gift himself Phil Heath. Both Phil and Kai are great bodybuilders but everyone is different. Phil does not lift like this nor does Jay Cutler and all three has top physiques. So what I am trying to say yes this may work for Kai but for a everyday person this is very extreme.
@DUMPOFTHEWEEK I think Kai explained in the videos why it took so long to complete the workout. If I remember correctly, it is because he has to take time and explain to Nick how to properly stimulate the muscle being trained and why.
@DUMPOFTHEWEEK Like Kai said, it only took 3 hours because he was doing a lot of explaining and talking for the show. it would not usually take 3 hours.
@DUMPOFTHEWEEK you're just like nick. you've missed the point that kai is training him like a real athlete and warrior. what nick, and a large majority of us are missing is the mind-body connection. the first few videos show kai demonstrating to nick that he is missing that connection, and therefore he is not ready to win an elite level competition. a perfect example is nicks "poor" form during hamstring work. kai is trying to teach you to KNOW and be aware of your body, like a monk meditating.
@DUMPOFTHEWEEK also, i'm sure any elite level athlete will tell you that their biggest obstacle is not their strength or physical prowess, but rather the road blocks we have setup in our mind. our bodies are very powerful, and can handle a long day of hunter or gathering food, or a hard day at work, or hours of lifting weights. in this video you don't really hear kai saying he is losing his "wind" but he says he is starting to lose that mental focus needed to work this hard.
@DUMPOFTHEWEEK Plus you have to be on a decent amount of steroids for this to be effective, if you trained like that naturally you def wouldn't grow and prob lose muscle. Not hating, just saying.
@DUMPOFTHEWEEK you can only get away with this if you are on steroids, if you are natural and you even attempt this bullshit, you will regress, get small, and be extremly overtrained. your test levels will be very bad, say hello to your estrogen and cortisol
@DUMPOFTHEWEEK i would have to agree i was just thinking this myself. i am a massive fan of kai and im slowly starting to like nick but these men are not your average gym member and a 3hr on legs would do more harm then good to a person not as dedicated as kai
@DUMPOFTHEWEEK yeah, but phil also doesn't squat....nor does he know how to squat. He may squat for a camera but in reality he's never under the bar in his actual workout. His name is the Gift for just that reason...he has a gift of not having to do much to have a great physique, if you're natural and don't have freakish genetics then your answer is hardwork. plus he basically said he's not usually there for 3 hours but its hard to train and teach at the same time.
@wlcm2thbrotherhood I will promise you that Phil squats, and by saying he doesn't have to lift hard to be big is very untrue. You have never seen Phil lift in real life and have no idea what him nor Kai really do. Everyone at that level of bodybuilding has great genetics Phil's are just more appealing to the eye because Kai is bigger in terms of mass then Phil.
@DUMPOFTHEWEEK Hahahahaha....how wrong you are. I train at armbrust in arvada colorado where he trains. i've watched his workouts, i've been there on days when cameras arent there and when they arent and there is an obvious difference in the training. i was there when he was making the road to the olympia 2011 and that was the first time i've ever watched him squat free weight, most of the time its either on the smith machine only moving up to 315 or on the hack squat for 5 plates
@wlcm2thbrotherhood first of all you said he never squats... but now you are saying he uses hack SQUATS and smith machine to SQUAT, how do those translate to not squatting?
they're not real squats....real squats are done with a free weight bar. thats like calling leg presses squats. the machine keeps the weight fixed which makes it easier, back to my point
@DUMPOFTHEWEEK and trust me those are easy weights for him. The heaviest i've ever seen him go is on chest for flat dumbell press and he did look intense on that. And i've met kai, i sat next to him at the 2006 mr colorado and we talked about training and he's been an advocate of intensity and philosophy of mind even since then. As far as appeal to the eye....purely opinion. but phils intensity isn't close to kai's because apparently it doesn't need to be...
@wlcm2thbrotherhood He is lifting in terms of volume not for weight. You should pay closer attention and Dorian never free weight squatted much either.
please...He screws around dude. I've seen it hahaha, one time he was on the hack with his heaviest weight (5 plates) and between each rep he was laughing and shadow boxing lol.
@DUMPOFTHEWEEK listen man im not trying to take anything away from phil, i think he's great! But i am saying that he doesn't have to work as hard for it.
@wlcm2thbrotherhood Yeah maybe Kai should learn from Phil and come in tighter and with less of a gut to the next Olympia... maybe that heavy training is hurting him.
he wasn't singing during his set was he? No he wasn't plus that was a photo shoot but its cool man no animosity towards you, maybe you'd make me look stupid in the gym with what you
know, im not trying to say you don't know bodybuilding, im just saying i know more about phils training habits than you. And kai's genetics have a role to play with that gut, but you're
@DUMPOFTHEWEEK Just because it took three hours training with nick and a filmingteam it doenst mean it takes kai three hours normally to complete his legworkout! =)
