  • I love your meat rabbit setup. I have to say your videos are what inspired me to start with my own rabbits. Keep up the good work.

  • aww poor bunnies ! I have a pet bunny which I love and spend tons of money on like for healthcare, food, toys and I give him lots of love. I am also a proud vegetarian for 2 years so I think you should feel ashamed for killing poor animals !

  • @OMFGILoveDrake

You should be ashamed of yourself for killing all of the vegi's you ingest. Just think how many poor little bunnies you are killing just so you can go to the supermarket to get your vegi's. SHAME one you for not grazing for your own food!

  • @harebrainedrabbitry You make no fucking sense, please explain to me how I'm killing animals by not eating them ?

  • @OMFGILoveDrake

I wouldn't expect the likes of you to really know where their food comes from or how it gets there.

  • @harebrainedrabbitry that didn't answer my question and I know that most of the meat people eat in canada and the us comes from a factory farms where the animals are fed dangerous hourmones to make them larger then their bodies can support, and they are all stuff in small crates or cages where they have to sit in there own deficate. And the food that I eat comes from a farm.

  • @OMFGILoveDrake

Your question will not get answered due to the vulgar language. You are disrespectful to this man and they way he sees fit to live. Come over to my site if you want to have a discussion.

  • @OMFGILoveDrake

You are not going to get your question answered here because of the vulgar language. You disrespected this man, his family and the way he sees fit to live. Come over to my video site if you want to have a discussion about it.

  • @OMFGILoveDrake A farm that kills wildlife habitat and animals that eat crops so that you can buy it at the store. Animals are still dying for your food whether you eat them or not. Grow your own food if you realy want to judge others for eating animals.

  • @OMFGILoveDrake Do you want me to give you my info on meat rabbits? Shoot me a message with your e-mail and I will explain it all. No matter what people raise rabbits for they give them healthcare, food, toys, AND lots of love. Just because we have more rabbits than you, doesn't mean we don't love them and care for them all. I respect vegetarians and have thought about becoming one myself, but if you don't respect my eating habits as well, why should I respect yours?

  • if you dont mind me asking what do you think of the Californians?as far as Temperament and meat amount goes? Im looking into getting 2 does and a buck for this fall Ive had show /pet rabbits starting since last jan but was wondering if there is any good tips you could give to a newbie :) thanks.

  • I breed Californians too!But I don't really cross californians with anything else much.

  • @LazyHaleyJRabbitry Thanks for telling it like it is. These people dont realize that rabbits live in holes in the ground that are very small spaces. When they are in open areas they get stressed and like lots of cover

  • @champundjana21 Yes they are big enough for a rabbit. They meet what the ARBA calls for, and then some.

  • Everything is just fine with them. Other than the bottom of the cage can give them sore hawks. And the hay on the ground that he might be feeding them. Could have bugs or could be moist and give them the snuffles. But they look good. Why eat em id show those does!!!!

  • @pistoler001 wire does not give rabbits sore hocks. Poor care gives rabbits sore hocks. I have yet to see a rabbit get sore hocks just from sitting on wire, and I have been raising rabbits a lot longer then the OP has,

  • @pistoler001 & rabbits cannot get snuffles from eating hay.

  • @champundjana21 His cages are just fine.

  • i wouldn't put the hutch towards the nord. I don't know if the northern wind can blow on your proprety but the cold wind would blow right on them like that

  • @jan585 The majority of our wind come east/west.

  • @KainanRa. Ok, not much off a problem then. But i would put a wind shield in front of them in winter. Just to be safe.

  • @jan585 Nice hutch by the way!

  • @jan585 I have a video called "Prepping hutches for the cold" on just this issue.

  • I am curious for a new starter do you have a good site to read up on? I wanted to try rabbits as I am sick of chickens but I find the information is scattered over the net I was thinking of 2 New Zealands and 2 Californians 1 male/female of each to cross breed which I read is the best for meat.

My biggest problem is feeding....also how long does feed last? Could I buy a years supply at a go or would I need to purchase it every X months? With chicken feed I could go 1 year easily.

  • i like how he says how champagne sprays everywhere xD my sisters old rabbit oreo used to do that to me and my brother, tll he died, sighhhhhh i wish we learned we could eat rabbit BEFORE we buried him

  • what foods are considered high ca diet... I feed my rabbits hay, pellets, carrots n apples

  • @mzTayTay17 Not sure I feed my rabbits the same as you.

  • I need help I'm going to be raising meat rabbits n I'm new at it so I have 2 questions... what age do I start breading my doe n my buck, n what age do u kill the baby rabbits for meat... thanks again

  • @mzTayTay17 I usually wait until the doe is 8 months old to start breeding but some just wait until the doe is to an adult weight and size. Butchering rabbits is up to you on what you want to do with them. Anywhere from 8-12 weeks is normal fryer size. I like the rabbit to be around 5lbs so I wait until 12 weeks. You can wait longer but you have to feed them and house them that much longer, making it less cost effective. Also rabbits get tougher and more fatty the older they get.

  • To all the people saying "Rabbits are like other animals! Go eat other animals!"

That doesn't make much sense.... :P

  • Why do you 13 to 15 year olds feel you have to comment negatively on this video? Especially the ones from the United Kingdom/Europe where 3 times as much rabbit meat is eaten per person than those in the United States. If you want to criticize someone, get your facts straight (and your spelling) and start with your country. If you don't like this video or the others you have commented on, don't watch them in the first place!

  • this made me sick. your a basterd.

  • @HomeMadeGunNut

I am sorry if you find this hard to beleive, but i am 2 years younger than you, and had rabbits all my life. I cant imagine eating them. I mean to offend no one but i personally think its wrong. I saw thois video whilst browsing rabbit rescues!

  • @AvianFoster All animals are food, no matter how cute they are and a cow or chicken is just as valuable as a rabbit, im 14 and even i understand that, stop acting like a 7 year old girl!

  • @AvianFoster rabbits are a multipurpose animal. food, fur, show, pets. no the op is not a monster, they are growing chemical free food in their backyard. these rabbits have it better then most other animals slaughtered to be sold in the grocery store. those cages are acceptable, and there is more then enough room in them for one rabbit

  • @AvianFoster Nobody wants to eat your pet bunnies so relax. My rabbits however are LIVESTOCK. Rabbits have been eaten by humans for thousands of year and then domesticated for meat and fur. It is only very recently that people started keeping them as pets. Your idea that they are pets just shows your ignorance and your idea that a rabbit is somehow more worthy of life than a chicken or cow based on how cute and cuddly it is appalling.

  • @AvianFoster You're judgmental attitude is tiresome.

  • @AvianFoster If you keep a cow, pig or chicken, they can also become pets! Not that much of a difference between them and rabbits

  • @jan585

Yes but thats not the point, i would eat a cow or a chicken, just not a rabbit. Where i come from, rabbits arnt meat, they ARE pets. I can never eat my rabbits, never, not ever. You be a savage and eat a nice clean creture like a rabbit. Please stop messaging me, its very annoying.

  • @AvianFoster Ok, i can understand that you wouldn't eat your rabbits. I wouldn't eat my dog!

But you have to understand that all animals can be considerd meat (cattle). That's the point!!

This man puts a video of his meat rabbits, not pets (which is said in the title of the video so first of all, don't watch it if you don't like it) so respect his way of thinking. If he had a cow as pet, i'm sure he wouldn't become angry that you eat cow meat !!

  • @jan585

URG, u dont get it, i showed this to my best freinds and i think we all agree that eating rabbits is barbarick. I do not respect this man, because i dont like him. You dont keep rabbits just to eat them, go get it from a butchers, id imagine it costs more to keep them alive than it would to just buy some of the meat. I also wouldnt mind, its just that the rabbits dont have any room to move or be rabbits.

  • @AvianFoster Well, i'm sure that i can show this video to 10 people or more who think it's normal and think you are acting like a child

What's the difference between breading your own rabbits for food and getting them from a butcher. Where do you think he gets his rabbit(meat) from somebody who breads rabbits. It makes no difference.

At least this man is sure that he can eat rabbitmeat from rabbits that had healthy food and lived a healthy live. Something you cant be sure of with butchers meat

  • @jan585 Well maybe i am a child?> Actually a 12 year old girl with ADHD who love bunnies, You couldnt mess with anyone more bunny loving. I found out my freind ate rabbit meat, i told everyone and now everyone hates her, shows what eating an intelligent sanimal can do to ur popularity.

  • @AvianFoster I know what loving animals is. Trust me, someone attacked one off our little horses. Bearly survived. I was devasted.

I just wanted to make clear that all animals are the same in this case. I bet that if you had cows or chickens or whatever your entire live, you wouldn't like it like you don't like this.

And i sort of understand your point. I know some people who love animals as much as you. But for them it wouldn't matter if it's a rabbit, cow, ....

  • @jan585 Hon people eat bunnies just like they eat chickens. you eat chicken right, ok well, its the same thing. when you are a little older, you will understand.

  • great to see the progression of parts put together. start to finish (except the meat eating part)!

    thanks

  • Alright , thanks anyway.Ive tried at animal auctions, craigslist, and local people.I guess there arent any californians in my area.

  • @joe9013 You could try to contact your local 4H, FFA or ARBA clubs.

  • @joe9013 you can them at rabbit shows. your gonna top dollar for good stock though.go the arba website & under the shows link

  • Hello >can you please respond.I am looking for californian rabbits if you have any. What state are you in .thanks

  • @joe9013 Sorry I dont have any rabbits for sale. I find them on Craigslist for around $20.

  • It is almost hard to understand how there are so mixed up people out there that think rabbits are people too or something. Either that, or there are just a whole lot of folks out their playing the troll. Get over it and wake up to reality already...Rabbits are basically a bottom of the food chain unit of nutrition for the rest of the worlds species.

  • @sophie1980c Sad that you think all the habitat that got destroyed to create all the farmland to grow the Fruits veggies and wheat did not kill thousands of animals. It is also sad that you think the farmers dont prootect those crops by killing wildlife that destroys the crops. It must be nice to live in a dream world. Thanks for watching.

  • @sophie1980c are you serious? i don't know if you believe in god or not but i do. and god himself place these animals on earth to ensure human survival. they do not feel they do not have souls they are strictly food. im not saying torture them, of course kill them quick and humanly but thats the way it is. we are top of the food chain. i hope god enlightens you soon. until then enjoy your salad and god bless.

  • @purity4all Read your bible dude.

"God blessed them and said "Be fruitful and increase in number, fill the Earth and subdue it. RULE OVER THE FISH OF THE SEA AND THE BIRDS IN THE AIR AND OVER EVERY LIVING CREATURE THAT MOVES ON THE GROUND" " Genesis 1:28

Stop twisting the words of the bible saying animals are superior because they were here first. There are also several passages that talk specifically about eating animals. Don't twist the words of the lord to support your personal beliefs.

  • @purity4all

After the flood when Noah stepped off the ark with his family animals were given to man to be food. I personally believe humans were originally created to be herbivores, but that changed. All I saw was your comment that animals were here first, and thought you were implying that gave them superiority. I'm just a bit confused and don't see the point you're trying to make if you're not a vegetarian. I never said you were wrong that they were here first, I just see it as irrelevant

  • @sophie1980c I have rabbits for pets but seriously? if we didn't "kill" animals for food there would be no human race, think before you speak... or in this case type.

  • @sophie1980c How much wildlife habitat is destroyed and turned into crop land for the bread, fruit and pasta you eat? How many animals are killed to protect those crops? If you think you are saving animals by not eating them you are ignorant. If everyone stopped eating meat and needed fruit veggies and grains to make up for those calories you would destroy the planet with deforestation and diverting water resources. I respect animals by being a responsible part of the food chain.

  • @sophie1980c Dude go huge a tree

  • @sophie1980c Dude go hug a tree

  • Nice rabits. I just got a 4month old California doe a the fort worth stock show and rodeo. I'm hoping to show her and breed her that way I can make money off of a great pet. :D

  • I own meat rabbits but they are acctually not for meat. They are very cute and I love them.

Iam not saying its amazing what your doing but what everyone is saying... come on you eat a cow, a chicken, frogs, etc. Rabbits are just like the other animals , give them a break! and get over it!

  • This is a prison for rabbits. stupid!!!

  • u shouldnt put them in little cages u jack ass

  • @sonicffreak401 Hmm constructive. How large do you feel the cages should be?

  • Where did you get the cages? Did you make them or buy them?

  • that is not right for a rabbit. 1. that is way to small of caging. 2. No hay? rabbits need hay that is about 80% of there diet. 3. water bottles are to low higher then up.

Please do the research before getting these wonderful animals.

Just to let u kno the diet. Pellets-15%, Hay-80%, Fuits/Veggies-5%.

  • @ChantylDeroy You really should watch more of my videos before you judge my setup. The lower cages have been enlarged. They get plenty of timothy hay as well as fruit and veggie scraps from the garden. They also get time outside the cages in a large pen. I dont know where you got the idea that I dont feed them hay or any of the other ASSUMPTIONS you have made. I guess everyone is an expert online though.

  • i knwo its natural an di dont think anything bad about it but i could never kill my own rabbits that iv had too look after i kill rabbit ones though out on he my uncles farm

  • @Horseloverkooder me too...i love my bun bun and i am also a mojor horse freak

  • i have a small rabbit farm and we cant get any of our does to have babies can you tell me what we are doing wrong

  • All life needs water. Wild rabbits get a lot of their water from the green plants they eat as well and when it rains. Domestic rabbits need LOTS of water. Most of my rabbits will drink at least one of those large water bottles everyday sometimes more than one.

  • I just started breeding rabbits for meat to become for self-sufficient. My problem is that I am having a hard time bringing myself to kill them. I'm not attached emotionally...it's just hard to take a life with my own hands. How do you put your rabbits down? What method?

  • @MushroomPatch I think its great you are taking responsibly for your own food production. I dont mean to make you feel guilty or anything but every time you have ever eaten meat something was killed for your benefit. To me there is no difference between killing the animal yourself or having someone do it for you.

I did two videos on butchering the rabbits. One is me doing it and one is me showing my wife how to do it.

  • @KainanRa Thanks for the reply. I did watch both of the videos, yourself and your wife, which made me realize...I need an Air Powered Rifle Gun! I was under the impression I should use my hands (neck) but I think what you are doing would be easier on the both of us (rabbit & myself). Thank you.

  • @KainanRa an easy way to water them is with auto waterer thay make it easyer to manage and you ony have to fill one bucket not 6 just a idea might make it a little easyer on ya

    the cheap guy

  • My friend said rabits don't need water, only if they are in cages...wich makes no sense to me at all...this is not true right? Cus he doesn't want to get a rabit water battle...

  • I see you use a board in your cages so the bunnies can get off the wire, which is uncomfortable to their feet, and gets pretty cold at night, or in the winter. However, a board picks up urine, and begins to smell. The urine soaks in, and washing it doesn't remove it. I went to cheap plastic kitchen cutting boards like those sold in dollar stores. They work great, give the rabbit a place to sit off the wire, don't soak up urine, and cleans up easily. So far, my rabbits haven't tried eating them.

  • Yep, it's hard to kill the bunnies, and the older I get the harder it is, but meat is meat. I kill them for my family to eat, or someone else kills them and I buy the meat in the store. Doing it myself just seems to be more honest. The meat I raise is healthier for my family. Two does bred three times a year will give over 100 lbs of healthy meat for the cost of a few bales of hay and a sack of grain. You can't buy that kind of quality, or quantity in any store for the price.

  • I have a whole bunch of Rabbits and I try to put 20 in the freezer a year... I have never felt the need to name them... I would think that would be hard when its hammer time.

  • @btigtime2 This was a project for me and my daughter to enjoy. She has her own rabbit (Ruby) and the rest are just for breeding. We dont name the fryers and Im sure it will be rough when it comes time to put down the adults. My Californian doe has turned out to be terrible at raising a litter and will go into the pot as soon as her current litter is weened. Not going to feel to bad about her though.

  • FIRSTLY. To all you hypocrites commenting on this, if you have ever eaten meat or EAT meat you are also guilty for killing animals. You are supporting it. There is nothing wrong with eating rabbits as they are quite healthy and DELICIOUS. And to the STUPID person who said that its like eating humans.... HOW FLIPPING STUPID CAN YOU GET. Rabbis and Humans are two completely different thing all together. Get a life you hypocritical idiots.

  • Those are some beautiful rabbits! You clearly got some excellent stock there. Nice and big. :)

  • Nice setup.

  • I HATE ALL OF you for eating rabbitts you dont see us cooking humans chopping them up this isnt right

  • @jshonistheman They're Rabbits, a prey animal. I loves bunnies, but meat is meat...and this is a hell of a lot easier than raising a few cows :x

  • I made all my cages.

  • Where did you get your four stall rabbit cage?

  • seems like you have a pretty good setup.. but im just curious in where do you put the babies so they can grow for meat.

  • @huntingsurvival I now have grow out cages. You can check out my recent videos to see how the setup has changed.

  • thats sad you raise them then you eat them. :(

  • bitch

  • Very cool hutch.

  • Who exactly eats these rabbits?!?

  • @TheGabgirl My family and I.

  • nice wok!

i just would like to suggest a bigger size of cages.according to my research. the size of the rabbit cage should be 3x3x3 feet per rabbit for you should also consider their movements.they jump so it should be 3 feet high or higher. also this allows them to play:run.

  • The ones that you are calling Champange D'Argents (which, as stated before, is not correct) are most likely Chinchillas. They look like they are either Standard or American Chinchillas (Which is a breed of rabbit, not to be confused with the species of animal), which is a good meat producing breed. The other two breeds you have correct though, the New Zealand White and the Californian.

  • im a person planning on getting a few rabbits,, aNd on youtube look at other peoples designs!##

isnt this area a bit small ? I know i have little experience but they have no room

  • @bigsmile1994 Build your cages as big as want to. Im not sure how big you think they should be but if you look at commercial rabbit farms and commercial cage suppliers these are standard size cages. I only have one rabbit per cage while I have seen more. If you check out my latest video you will see I did upgrade to 30x30. I did that because the 24x30 are to small with a nest box and bunnies in them otherwise they worked just fine.

  • what do you mean breeding them for food??? as in for humans to eat??? :( horrid if thats the case!! :O

  • @TheChunkymonkey98 Yes, as in for humans to eat. There's nothing "horrid" about being omnivorous, and enjoying meat! If you think there is, you might like to shut up and go munch a celery stalk or something.

  • @marksoutof10 haha funny much?

  • The cages are to small, you should at least let them out around 5 times a dyay to rome around. I mean how would you like it if you were stuck in a cage that small for that long.

  • Beautiful rabbitry!

  • CRUEL

  • @NARCOPOLO76 yes cruel hats what i said

  • @russellbrandandkaty how is this cruel.... u mean for food? HA!

  • @stupidself00 no for space. one rabbit should have a full hutch to itself, stupid

  • @russellbrandandkaty at least they can turn around fuck tard

  • @stupidself00 exactly, at least they can turn around, you are cruel and you should have your animals taken off of you

  • @russellbrandandkaty go to a shelter and tell them what u told me..

  • Sorry,

I mean I started breeding them years ago!

  • Sorry! But those aren't Champagne rabbits!!

  • @heartlandrabbitry I will take your word for it as I am knew to rabbits.

  • @KainanRa

If you go to my website and click on either 'Does' or 'Bucks' you can see two pictures of my Champagne rabbits. Or go to the ARBA and get more information on them

  • Wish you luck with your rabbits. I started breathing them years ago. Fine hobby and a lot of (healthy) good meat!
