I tend to agree w/ Chef most of the time more so than anyone else, we must have very similar tastes and opinions on beers.

@PbNAphasia That's part of the idea behind our show is that I want the guys to give their own personal opinions. The idea is that you would be able to take the opinion of the person you can relate to the most and use their recommendations.

i agree with your panelists, this is definitely a solid 8. it's an engaging and balanced beer. while DT may no longer qualify as "best in the world" it still stacks up pretty favorably against any other beer of the same style.

Back in 98 there wasn't much American craft beer scene so anything Belgian won all the awards.

Mark has hit the nail on the head, "craft brewer's ......are going IPA crazy". I agree and I also buy IPA's and the one's I thought were very hoppy a month ago I barely taste the hops today. You do develop a taste for hops and seem to seek out more and more. Good observation Mark.

@tomcaroscio There is a limit to it though. Once IBUs pass 100 things can't get any hoppier to the human tongue.

Wish you guys would have focused less on the "best beer in the world" in 1998. It wasn't a popularity contest, just a judged beer event and used for marketing.

I'm surprised this one rated so highly with you guys. It's definitely a great beer and I'm glad to see guys on the show liking it.

@StumpyJoeJr You're probably right, but you just never know where the conversation will head in a live taping. I think the bigger point was just that beer tastes have changed a lot since 1998 and this beer probably doesn't stick out as much as it once did.

I didn't like this beer at all too much of that belgian bubblegum banana taste. I like the graphics though and they make some sweet glasses.

8 sounds about right. Good beer, but a little to sweet and spicy to drink a lot of.

I love this beer. Fair review, guys. It is one of those beers that you need to be careful with, and you indeed probably need to bee familiar with craft beer before you try this out.
