Yes, there are millions of people who are suffering real hardship but that doesn't make Lewis's statement any less sincere. His "lifestyle" (2001-present) is irrelevant. This WAS the worst 8 years for most people I know.

these have been the greatest years of my life. i got traveled, got married, had some great jobs had 3 kids, was unemployed for about 6 months and turned it into something great. Its what you make of it. People put too much of their fate into the hands of govt. Thats why there are so many blind sheep following obama

Having kids & memories will always be special. I'm not talking about good & bad years. I'm talking people knowing (for what seemed like forever!) that this was NOT the course they wanted for their country. It's not about "government". It's about "country"! In some ways, I'm afraid it still boils down to the "culture war" - a divided country. You grew up after it, so you may never (?) understand (completely). I voted Paul. The Bush DEBT (starting from day 1) was enough to make me sick!

At least Obama was man enough to admit it. Bush has systematically avoided questions about his drunk driving, going AWOL as well as his drug use. Whereas Obama claims that he was young and made mistakes, but now is more mature and regrets those mistakes - having learned from them.
