A SecretAngel98: The show being called Phantom of the Opera does not make it an opera. It is a musical and the only real opera singers cast are usually Carlotta and what's his name. As far as volume goes, the script calls for Christine to be shy and nervous as she begins the number and for her confidence to grow as the song progresses, which is precisely what this actor did.

Her voice is pure. She just drops her lower jaw slightly and raises her upper jaw and the sound travels beautifully. She doesn't have the frown marks on her head when she sings high notes. To all those people who thinks Sarah Brightman is the best....I agree with you. But Emmy Rossum is sings beautifully. She makes it seem effortlessly.
