  • love your guitar, thats a NUNO model right? oh ya,good job with the song.

  • It's no Warren DeMartini but still nice!

  • nice dive bombing

  • Rocking good :)

  • Ratt n Roll

  • *and* the after solo parts are killer....

What's up with all the other dudez?

  • Best version on YouTube....

You actually do all the pre-solo parts correctly...unlike everybody else.

  • sounds awesome dude!!! Id like to hear some van halen with your set up

  • Excellent. What kind of guitar is that I want one.

  • Shit that was really good dude! Warren Demartini has always been one of my favorite guitarists. I always thought he was under-appreciated.

  • I agree bro, your tone is BEAST !!!

  • your tone is fuckin' MONSTER!

  • thank a- hole, now i realize just how bad i suck..lol. great job

  • OUtstanding!

  • It's a NOONO geetar!

  • You rock out in whatever shirt brother! Sounds great. ROCK ON!!

  • Actually you didnt do so bad ! Ratt Rules #1

  • i dig the yellow shirt. is that an alligator on it? i hope so, cause that proves clothes, looks, or weight doesn't make or break the music. let the playing do the talking and you effing rock. one of my all time fave songs and you killed it. man you killed it. pretty damn cool. thanks for the video.

  • I'm coming over to kick the cunt out of yer mother! Maybe then she'll stop spitting out deformed inbreeds like you. Play the song right, ya filthy jew! I bought a jar of applesauce last night and fucked it silly.

  • Nice work man! Ratt riffs were never easy to duplicate because of so many off the chart string pulls and chord bends in lot of their music, primarily due to the extraordinary skills of Warren DeMartini, who I always believed had to play "down" to the rest of the band. He was that good. Excellent job!

  • nice nuno axe! =)

  • I love this!! Brings back MANY memories. Ty for playing this Aarroneous. You rock!! Long live the 80's (and big hair, Camaro's, Pontiac ProAm's, Cigarette boats...you get the idea).

  • Nice! So great to see the youth appreciating and bringing back the 80s style. Ratt's one of my favorites, no doubt. Love their blues metal mixture. Now let's hear some Dokken!

  • Good job...very nice but dont try to do to much ...your a good player...stick with that....

  • Freekin tight bro!!! I don't think Ratt has a bad song. It's too bad grunge took the focus off metal. I'm sure Ratt would have been alot bigger without Nirvana and Pearl Jam gettng in the way.

  • Every time I come back to this video, I can't help but admire your tone so much. It's so good.

  • Two questions if you wouldn't mind... Does the Hot Rod 50+ get a good Warren DeMartini tone and what guitar is that hanging in the back?

  • im 15... andi am in love with 80's hair metal..more than mboth of my parents together! i love this stuff! and ratt is one of my favorite bands next to Motley Crue, Poison, Whitesnake, and Van Halen.. ROCK ON, BRING BACK GLAM! XD

  • woah dude... you are alwesome

  • the part from 0:05 to 0:08 how do you do that slide? is the only thing i cant get or understand.

  • I haven't played my guitar in almost 20 years, I'm gonna dig it out when I get home. Hope the amp works. Thanks for the inspiring shred!!!

  • Good job man! That riff looks harder to play than I thought it would.

  • Nice Job Studley!

  • ROCK!

  • I like how you slowed the song down to be in lower tuning. That's pretty rad. Rock on dude!

  • Actually, the song is the same speed, you can buy some pitch altering software to change the tuning. Garageband also works.

  • @philligator It's called drop d tuning

  • @SHERIPOTH In this case it's drop D flat. The original track is in Drop D.

  • omg you've got the hole fuckin' collection of demartini's guitars ....nice dude!

  • That's actually Nuno Bettencourt's Wasburn (N4 I'm guessing) or at least is the same body style and headstock. It does look similar to one of Demartini's natural finish guitars though.

  • Totally awesome. I wish I could do that!!! RATT and Crue rule!!!

  • Damn, sounds like you nailed it.

    Nice.

  • Dude you need to give a lesson on how to play the song. It sure would help us all. Really good guitar playing man.

  • Sweet dude. Keep it up man.

  • nice guitar! what is it? cleanest version i've seen so far, nice.

    -bend steel !

  • Awesome!!!!

  • Dude -- you SLAY!!!

  • Cant hear your guitar over the music

  • The guitar is like the loudest thing in the song.

  • That was awesome man!!!!

  • Oh,My Gosh! How 'bout some Air Supply.

  • lol

  • Great job man!

  • GREAT playing

  • fuck 'n A, you rule

  • dead-on accurate!

Warren & Robbin would be proud.

  • excelent my friend

  • awesome! 5 stars man!!

  • so far the best performance I've seen on youtube

  • 5/5

  • Nice Washburn

  • No pedals, no effects...dont need none...lol.

    Good job tho'

One word of advice though, you are obviously an accomplished musician, ...slow down on the vibrato...make it hang out a bit, dont be too anxious.

You are fantastic, look forward to hearing more from u.

    GREAT JOB ON THAT LEAD!!!

  • Thanks! I agree about the advice - I've somehow developed a "nervous" vibrato over the years... maybe I should go practice!

  • perfect

  • I went to another screen and had no idea that there was another guitarist playing until i closed the screen..... now if that is not a good endorsement I am not sure what is

  • im in love with that washburn now

  • Nailed! Nice sound dude. Did you use a program or line effects?

  • straight through into the soldano

  • Ahh, soldano. You don't have to say another word. Those heads sell themselves man. LOL!!

  • Very nice job!!!

  • The volume pot on the nuno is perfectly placed. Amazing tone, amazing playing. 5 stars. :)

  • I agree! About the placement of the volume pot anyway. Thanks for the compliments!

  • this head is a 50+ or 50+ xl?

    thanx....i love this sound!!!!!!

  • Old Hot Rod 50 from about 1991/1992

  • Nice!!!!!!!!!

  • That was wicked cool. I love Ratt they are the best metal band. Can't wait for the new album! Just saw them last month the kicked!

  • they still making records??? no way. I'll pass it up but good to see them still rockin!!

  • du you use any pedal.booster in direct or effect in loop? thanx ...very good sound 5 stars

  • No pedals, no effects.

  • What is your cab????????

  • Soldano 4x12 w V30's

  • way to go...

  • .....i'm an italian guitarist..CMON RATT........

  • sweet vid nice guitar playing...i play and i have to say..honestly.....ur way fuckin better and i'vce been at it for like 2 years lol

  • great man.....i'm an italian drummer..CMON RATT........

  • Not bad man. Classic metal riff from a very underrated band of the day!

  • They are very good. But they werent as famous as they shouldve been. They had alot of good riffs. I miss the 80s hairbands.

  • Oh and dude, you play some awesome guitar, keep up the good work =D

  • Great work on this tune bro, this riff still holds up today in my opinion.

    RIP Mr Crosby!!!

  • great cover,man!!!!

why you don't upload another vid???you're great

  • Sounds great, man. Mind if I ask what gear you're using? Works really well for this cover.

And if you know of any good tabs for this, I'm all ears, I'd love to learn this one.

  • ik his guitar is a nuno bettencourt washburn

  • dude...that was fucking aswome! could you send me the tabs? that would be so cool!

  • No need to hide your face dude. That was perfect, Excelent.

  • killer video i always wanted to learn this song ever since i first heard it i always tell my friends that they should listen to it and they say 80's rock sucks and i say fuck off.....another great song to learn would be "wanted dead or alive" by "bon jovi" i love the solo in it its my favourite..can you play it too??

  • Blaspheme! Anyone who says 80s rock/metal sucks should be put to death for their own good. Obviously they aren't fit to live!!!

  • @ Tekzel

    I TOTALLY AGREE!

  • perfect! 5/5

  • BAD ASS!!!

And one of my favorite ratt songs.

  • That was Great !!!!!!!

  • what city you in, that waz amazing, I was watching the solo and you ace'd it.

  • Very impressive!!!

  • I love this riff... very well done! And your tone is PERFECTION. I use this riff in the opening of my "How to Pose Like an '80s Rockstar" guitar lesson. Check it out man, but be warned - once you start using my poses, you will be spending more time using your guitar to fight off chicks than you will rocking! LOL

  • I don't usually like to watch too many of these amateur performances, but this one was A+...great song, and extremely well done, does it justice, and great great sound, perfect distortion. God I miss the talent of the 80's. This song always looked like it'd be such a challenge to perform per Warren's style, so I never attempted it. ;)

  • Awesome!

  • can u play lay down by pristess?....... then teach me :????

  • Very good

  • well an truly nailed . the best ive heard

  • Thats great, but I wanna see a playoff between you and the guy on youtube playing this in his bedroom.

  • Hello aaroneous from me in England.

Great video; have had it on my favourites for ages. You are great!

I was going to ask you lots of boring questions about your guitar, amps, pick-ups blah-blah...

But everyone asks you that, and it can get a bit...,well..., NERDY!

So I have decided to be totally English and ask you the following:-

    1. Sunday dinner - roast beef, pork, lamb, chicken, fish or veggie?

    2. Car or motorbike?

    3. Relaxing holiday or active?

    Best wishes!

  • That was great man really cool. Great sound and i'm lovin the guitar!!!

  • Kick ass job man.

  • TALENT

  • Excellent work. For the run of sixteenths that start at 2:40, do you bar the 8th and 10th frets as you decend? Or, do you pick the notes seperately? I am trying (with no success) to alternate pick them one by one, and in your video, its too fast to see, just like the pros. Help a frustrated fan out!

  • All the notes get picked individually, but with a palm mute for the staccato effect. Also, for that section, I start with an upstroke (a la Paul Gilbert) so that you start on the "outside" of each string.

I think Warren actually plays them all with down strokes (at least in his video).

  • now thats a real cover of lay it down! best one on youtube atm. but watchout, mine is comin in a week or so once im done exams and i got my guitars back!

  • perfect tone

  • Ratt......and 80's metal ROCKS all others must die!!!!!!

  • Is yours a Davies N4?

  • Yep! But I had John Carruthers do the Feiten intonation thing to the neck, and installed a real Floyd instead of the original Kahler.

  • No metal guitarists of today, save just a few, can touch the abilities the 80's guitarists had. When Warren shreds, he doesn't just play alot of fast ass notes that can't be distinguished from any other notes, he plays very complicated melodies inside every solo. The cheap shit of today can't hold a light.

  • interesting guitar

  • Rock out dude. good job

  • very good ...keep on rockin

  • Some of the best riffs ever nice to see people actually playing this stuff instead of gay rockband or guitar hero

  • Can we stop all the bullshit about what "metal" is and just rock out while he's jamming this? Does it matter whether a tomato is a fruit or a vegetable or should you just enjoy your fucking salad

  • asi lay dying is shit, this is real music, 80's metal bands DESTROY any band that is showcasing today

  • this is pure fucking metal, I love it. 5 out of 5 stars.

  • Wow!!! Very impressive!!

  • beautiful playing, man.

  • you my friend are bad ass!

  • excellent! great song

  • sounds good - never gets old here that song

  • Dude, that's was REALLY good.......

  • Nice job! BTW, the Nuno guitar kicks ass!!!

  • One of my favorite guitar pieces and you played it excellently!

  • Outstanding control of volume, tremolo and of course spot on play...

  • That was simply excellent!

  • great

  • Spot on excellent playing!

  • you fuckin rock! outstandin! rock on man!

  • demaritinis solos begining is one of the bes, so lazy and sharp.

  • i watch this over and over again bacause of this clean. i am hetereosexual, im playing with you :D and that solo ending!

  • Really good

  • Excellent dude, SDMF !!!

  • Hi There. Great job! Just curious... What amp are you running the yellow jacket equipped el84's through? I've got a Marshall TSL122, and am considering the THD Yellow Jackets to tame down the output for home use...

  • It's a Soldano Hot Rod 50. Thanks for the comments!

BTW, your best bet to tame the output would be the THD hotplate - the yellow jackets will lower output, but even they are way too loud,. =)

  • Yeah... I thought that... I did have a Weber attenuator that I used w/ another amp, but I really didn't like what it did to my tone...

  • Yeah, the THDs sound okay. Some people really like the "Ultimate Attenuator" but those actually use active electronics to replicate the signal going to the cab. You can check out treetopper's videos (Todd Duane) to get an idea of how it might sound.

  • hey dude do you got a myspace

  • why, when i go to some dimebag's solo video look's like everybody know how to play the guitar....????...

when i come here, all around are about to buy a KILLER-INSANE-HARD-TO-TUNE-EXPERT-FLOYD-INSTALLED-GUITAR, what's up people!?!

first of all: go to some instrument's shop and ask for guitar lessons, lern a year or two n' u gonna be able to play some cool power-metal riffs, and then AND THEN u gonna give a FUCK ratt and that silly riff.

lern from me... not from my english, dickhead!

  • Woohoo! My first hater!

  • i'm not hatin'

just telling young ppl to 'lern' guitar for self-joy, not to play a 'cool riff'.

    cheers:)

  • Excellent work mate. I'm starting to learn guitar but the Barre chords fuck me around... Back to air guitar ..

  • Thanks everyone for the compliments! Don't forget to check out my Nuno and Racer X stuff!

  • im gonna buy a maestro by gibson soon and i'd really like to kno if learning guitar is easy or not?.....cus i have a feeling it looks easy but it's actually like really hard

  • It's easy! Everyone should buy a guitar and start playing!

  • hey not as easy as u think man the first hurdle is the hardest get the basics over with and its better

  • Awsome! Your execution is spot on, love the flourishes you added. Phenomenal guitar tone.

  • Fan-Tab-U-Tastic! Really - You're dead-on...GREAT job!

  • Good playin' - show your mug for props!

  • Fkn Great im like 4x in watching

    nice job dude !

  • Fuckin A+ Ratt n Roll!

  • /applaud!

  • Good job bro

  • Good Job Man!!!Song rocks!!!

  • Man that was sweet!

I learned that song when it came out. Definitely a pinky workout, huh?

Wish Ratt had some tab books.

I am building a copy of WD's 'Skull' guitar.

  • Different tuning. It wasn't the same as Warren Demartini but it was your interpretation and it was a damn good one. Nice Work. Great Playing

  • Awesome! Great interpretation & little personal touches.

Ratt & Roll will never die! :-D

  • I hope

  • I like that ending of your solo, very nice guitar sound. Rok on!

  • love your version of this man....great job. I posted a vid response. Hope you like

  • good tone in the fingers..but I would like to hear it just against a cd without voice..nice though

  • Great song, and by the way, awesome job. I really loved that riff you did on the last chorus part.

  • sence u got this fucker down good why dont u make a lesson vid helpo some ppl out ! lol

  • Great song and you did an outstanding job with it.

  • that was awsome dude! wish i was as good as u 2

  • different tuning

  • With an N4 Guitar.. you cant go wrong :)

Ratt is a great band too...great 80's riffs.
