I think that you are doing a great service in furthering tolerance education--we need a lot mor of it in our classrooms. Having taught for 32 years, I have seen how cruel and intolerant children can be. It is only early intervention that can possibly correct these behaviors. Unfortunately, I think these behaviors are learned and reinforced in the home so parent education is essential.
Tim - Nice job! I remember the feeling at Lyndonville schools too of being picked on and made fun of because I was different! Seems like a long time ago and yet like yesterday at the same time. Keep up the good work. David Whittleton (the kid on Platten Road)
Why doesn't this guy have his own national television show? The emotional problems our children face within our public schools could clearly be lowered if we had Mr.Bellavia as a weekly, if not daily television educator. Teasing, can often turn into physical abuse and only when it results in murder does it then appear on prime-time television. Education, good commuication and active listening are key. Mr. Bellavia has the 'Tools For Tolerance' - he needs national television exposure!
This video is really awesome. It is important for people to try and understand and possibly emulate what Timmy is doing in their own lives and with their own children
