I feel that another person catagorising a someone's sexuality or sexual identity is impossible. You are simply who you are. You decide what that is and that may fluctuate through your life, in shape or form like a cloud. The centre of which stands YOU. You're whatever, and whoever YOU say YOU are. It's not open for outside question. Or am I way off the mark.
Here, the word androgyne has 2 greek words in it: "Andro," which is the male, and "Gyne," which is female.
So an androgyne is a person who feels that mentally, he shares characteristics with both genders. He/she feels like they are in the middle, the grey area, like you said.
Indeed. I suppose that I can see why some, like myself, feel the need to express that inner feeling visually and others don't.
The only objection that I'd ever have is that if those who don't feel that need started to dictate to the ones that do, or indeed, vice versa.
Androgyny is different from each perspective. It is only when people start dictating to each other that problems start, but I am glad to say that I was mistaken. In this case that was not what was happening.
No, I don't like to bash people, and I don't like to dictate to people what they should think and believe in. Obviously, what I told you is what I feel about androgyny, and was very intrigued, and even encouraged by your videos :)
Androgyny is, to each and every androgyne, what it is to them.
I'd never dream trying to bash or dictate myself. It would just concern me if any androgyne started to dictate to other androgynes in that way. I don't think that would be healthy.
Your reference is quite correct and what I try to point out in the video.
Literally, andro = male and gyne (from where why get gynecology) = female.
You're not androgynous unless you have experienced the pain of being different - the pain of having never been able to fit in with the norm. It's not a choice. It's not an ideal. It's an identity that some people naturally have... simple as that.
First, I think your videos are intriguing, Props to you for having the courage to share your story with the world.
To answer your question, the word 'androgyne' is pronounced 'AN-dro-jine,' at least in American English.
Finally, I am curious to know if you, as an androgynous individual, are attracted to males or females or both simultaneously. Does your lifestyle affect your sexuality or is your sexuality a derivative of your androgyny?
Well, I don't like to divulge my sexuality online for two reasons... One, unless the asker is proposing something I don't see that it's anybody's business but mine and two, I like to keep people guessing on that one! :P
I will say, however, that I don't believe that any gender identity has any influence one way or the other on the persons sexuality.
I know people of all gender identities and of each I know some who are straight, some who are gay and some who are bi.
So androgyny (or gender identity) is independent of sexuality.. that's pretty interesting. It's incredible how minute differences of a few genes can express themselves in such enormously contrasting ways.
Thanks for making this video. I've have had many instances in my life that you have touched upon. It was a real problem being the way I am only because I couldn't identify what I felt. I too stumbled upon the term androgyne and did some research. That was 3 yrs ago. Although I still encounter some obstacles, my life is alot easier now. Again thx for the vid. Peace
I'm glad you and pica have corrected the misunderstanding. I had the same problem that pica did, I think, in that it's better to accept a broad idea of what makes a person androgyne. I took issue with what you were saying because I think you were being too narrow with your definition. As pica said, it's not about the look, but the internal. I think the internal can be shown through outward appearance. I know plenty of people who look androgynous, but aren't androgyne and vice versa.
I agree. I really was being genuine when I said that I realise pica does identify as androgyne and I am normally the first to point out that not all androgynous looking people are androgynes and not all androgynes look androgynous.
I am glad the misunderstanding is corrected too. pica seems a cool and intelligent person.
Sorry if I sounded narrow, that was not intentional and certainly isn't how I feel.
Great video weegerri, made me think a lot about things. You've actually made me think I might be androgyne after many, many years of thinking I was MTF. Really beginning to appreciate non binary gender identity after so much brainwashing the other way. Thank you :)
The jist was that the only people i would deny the word androgyne to - are people are not androgynes and that to be an androgyne stems from that belief in being neither gender or inbetween. We are siblin's in this
i've not said you've got it wrong, i've said that the crux of androgyne is the feeling, not the costume, and that the costume is not a vital part of it. Indeed, i can't see any disagreement between us.
Hmm.. it did occur to me that maybe I phrased it wrongly. But I just wasn't keen on the suggestion that people who might dress in androgynous clothes or dress in clothes that might not be designed for their biological sex aren't androgynes because many are, myself included. That might not be what it is to some people, but that's what it is for me and lots of other androgynes that I know.

Nah.. that's about right. We all go through changes and you never know what's 'round the corner but only you can know who and what you are.

IE:- a blend of the two.

Exactly :) I find it very fascinating, being a gender dysphoric myself.

This was very interesting, so do you find both men and women attractive or neither?
All the best.

Yes, I can see that I may have picked you up wrongly. It is definitely an internal thing, and identity and a feeling. There's no question there.
Still, at least I finally got round to posting something androgyny related! :)

Hi weegerri.
I think you're misinterpreting Pica's videos. Sie never said anything about who is entitled to use the word androgyne.

It's a complicated ol' topic all in all.
I am in an androgyne and polygender group and most of the androgyne members do look, to some degree, visually androgynous.
