I love the wonky surveillance camera in the very first scene. Big and clumsy compared to the sort of thing you have in shops and supermarkets today...this was the future as imagined in 1977!
Thank you SO MUCH PopcornOracle for posting these.I first watched BLAKE's 7 when it was on Nebraska PBS in the mid-80's! The TV signal was very distant so I rigged up a huge antenna outside and found just the optimum palcement so I could watch a new episode of BLAKE's 7 ever Saturday night. I haven't seen them since the 80's and this is so nostalgic! I've ordered the DVD set and plan to watch them all again with my 8 year old daughter! Thanks again for reminding me how great these were!
social engineering by feminists! ha! this show contains strong female characters. your opinion only raises questions regards your prejudices. macho morons rule sci-fi these days. is that the fault of those promoting woman's rights?
oh no!! did i hear remake mentioned. why why why? has there been one decent remake ever? thanks for posting this unedited. i like the pace of it. not the wam bam CGI style of modern sci-fi. builds tension nicely. this was my all time childhood favourite. thanks again.
Two interesting trivia bits: 1 - This is the only episode without Avon (Paul Darrow), and 2 - Vila (Michael Keating) is the only actor to appear in all 52 episodes of the series.
this show was like reading a really really good sci fi novel like issac asimov or ray bradbarry i really enjoy watching these episodes doctor who and blakes 7 outstanding sci fi tv shows!
BTW I thought Paul Darrow was behind the Sky remake? He owns the rights I think - he'll do it right - won't he? Or has he got some ulterior motive? Hmmm... Orac, give me all you know on Sky TV!
I'm a bit scared of the remake considering some of the stuff that I've heard about the people in charge of it. But I figure even if it's pretty awful, maybe it'll help people look into original B7/at least get people aware of it.
I haven't seen this inyears and it's good to be able to watch it again. I grew up watching Doctor Who and Blake's 7 so it brings back alot of memories! Thanks.
^^ No problem. I'm glad people seem to be enjoying these. I know I've enjoyed all the DW I've turned up on youtube, so I really wanted to spread B7 around and S1 was lacking on here.
Shit, my name just happens to be Roj Blake.

What do you mean, "It gets far better"? It's brilliant! And so are you, for putting it on! Well done!
I'm proud to say I was an original fan in 1978...

70's Sci-Fi shows were something else. This show, Space 1999, Battlestar Galactica. They all had a je ne sais quoi to them. Am i right?

But it would be nice if they did get it right!

Remake? Remake?
But it has to have 70s hair and wobbly sets and special effects drawn on with a crayon! It won't be Blakes' 7 otherwise! b v

I don't think anyone could do most of the old scifi shows and movies justice today.

@PopcornOracle the great appeal was the cheesiness cheapness and the englishness of it all-hope there is at least some nod to that !
