In case you were wondering, you don't have to "get rid" of stuff that never lawfully applied to you. And since the law is very specific, what doesn't apply to you is NOT your problem. If it is not my problem....I do not care, because by law, it does not apply to me. Therefore, if it doesn't apply and someone says it does, it is because some shill or hack has to sell snake oil to me. I can ALWAYS just say no.
As usual, "magical" threats and "magical" fixes shall surface that don't really do anything, lead by people that are simply flim-flam men, sucking the sheep to the sheering simply because that is what sheep are good for. If you want to get rid of a corporate elite, then get rid of capitalism. Under capitalism, the market is SPECIFICALLY set up so that more capital goes into fewer and fewer hands. Abolish the ownership of property not intended for active personal use, get rid of landlordism and wage labor, and replace traditional money with a labor notes system and you will have economic equality and thus no corporate bosses.

I wholeheartedly disagree with your assertion that "technological problems require technological solutions". This just leads to a situation much like the excessive "legalism" we see in our society. A constant "pasting over" of one new law after another in order to deal with the previous bad law. One new technology after another...
I think some of our legal and tech problems could be solved with SPIRITUAL and MORAL solutions. Right now, most scientists are "amoral", and have tunnel vision.
