Okay.. Our city just dug up a huge chunk of land and I found a baby killdeer walking in the curb of our road. I've looked for the parents, but with all the construction I have had no luck.
I know this is a very independant bird, and learns alot from its parents, but the survival rate is very low for the young. What can I do for it, when would be the best time to release it into the wild?
It looks like its only a few days old. It has no wing feathers and is still covered in fuz.
Thanks for the comments everyone! As for what the baby Killdeer eat bigsidfan, even just volunteering for a wildlife rehab place like I do, we aren't allowed to teach or tell people how to rehab something themselves. Please encourage your friend to contact the nearest rehab place so it can be cared for properly. Thanks!
@CTwin2 My grandmother is a rehaber and wants to know how to feed baby killdeer. she has been doing it for about 30yrs now and knows just about everything there is to know except how to feed baby killdeer.
Waht do baby killdeers eat? A friend found a baby one that is so small that it fits in my hand. She is going to try to give it small pieces of ham. Is that OK?
