you believe hatsumi's/takamatsu's nonsense based PURELY on their own say-so... at least kawakami has evidence that shows he was actually taught something...
all takamatsu has is a second rate story he had to come up with AFTER he had started calling his taijutsu 'kukishin ryu ninpo'...
togakure ryu is what he CHANGED the name to... and ADDED the supposedly 800 year lineage to it FROM THIN AIR....
Honestly, only people who persevere. If you have the will to see through all the lies and to devote yourself, you can. Im not trying to sound like an asshole but you have to weigh around 140lbs, exercise every day (run at least 5 miles), condition your body and your mind, etc.. what are you waiting for? If you have to ask a question like that then you probably will never be able to grasp it. Oh btw before i get flamed by everyone who reads this, im talking about ninjutsu in the historical sense.
no ts okay.i am learning a martial art named kalarpayattu.ts supposed to be the most ancient style of martial art in the world and is the root of most of the asian martial arts..its frm india.
and i do excercise and run more than 5 miles a day.and also i do weigh around 140 pounds i am about 138.

Apparently the Bujinkan's Koto-Ryu has links to Kalapayattu. But don't forget that because an art is very old, or the oldest, doesn't make it good, or even useful, it will be up to you to make it worth while.
Also, while I was going through my living in program in the Bujinkan, we were gradually running more and more kilometers every moarning, in the end we were at 12 k every day.
well you can't blame a martial art for being unsuccesful you can only balame the martial artist
as it depends on who's fighitng.
i practice kalaripayattu and i find it very effective.i can atleast handle 3 people in a fight after only 6 months of training.
and i'm a great admirer of ninjutsu its one the most lethal art and the only one to teach stealth so i love both styles. there is no best style only the best fighter.
i am a bujinkan, budo ryu, genbukan, practitionaer. hatsumi is not the only true ninpo grandmaster, he will tell you that. he is the most popular, since the 80's -90's ninja boom. you all must do some traveling. with mind as well as body and soul. i feel bad for all of you who treat bujinkan like a cult, and masaaki like a god of war i.e. fudo
i'm having trouble understanding why people can't except other styles, why do people assume that there can be only 1 linage left?
i don't know for sure if hatsumi's linage is pure, BUT i do know that my teacher can kick my ass without breaking a sweat, thus i can learn from him. people should stop bickering about the linage and look at who teaches what, we are to respect ones martial art, if someone is a fraud... then it will show in his art.
japan is a big place, surly big enough for 2 soke's
It is simple they have it in there mind that there linage is the only one like they have a secret, true ninpo is much harder then they think before a man is a Green Beret he goes through 2 years of hell, can anyone tell me everything the CIA did last year? Shinobi are a secret group so people don't know everything about them, yes there are many a man can teach his son and so on, is McDonalds the best food for you? people think because there is a fast food of ninpo in every state it makes truth.
The iga ninja turned into the oniwabanshu which are linked with the nakano school, which is linked with japans modern intellegence organisation. I can guarantee that there are ryu still "underground", Btw mcdojos suck :)
Yes there are other ryu or people that practice true shinobi no mono in a true sense and it has nothing to do with martial arts or collecting books on the subject and thinking one is an expert, if a man had every book on the CIA he would still have/know very little, what fat out of shape westerners are doing has nothing to to do with shinobi arts.
Your completely right. You'd have to be a god to learn ninjutsu by yourself. Its much easier to eat fast food, and its more convenient to drive 4 miles away. Its disgusting. Same with the way they treat animals. Fuck them. Unfortunatly Japan is in no better state today. Some day, shit will hit the fan and they will find out that their society based on electronics is not so invulnerable.
A western fatass could learn a few aspects of ninjutsu (but would likely not remeber most of it). How far will he get if he refuses to master diet, conditioning, his mind, or body? What if he does not follow the spiritual component? He'll still be a greasey fat slob correct? Ninjutsu requires you to fully devote every aspect of your life. If you refuse to commit, you will fail.
Very true what you are saying is what fujita seiko said before he died when the Mcdonalds of Ninjutsu first came out in Japan, from Koryu, It has become quite aparant that the claims of Masaaki Hatsumi being directly related to authentic Ninja History are unproven in Japan. He has never been able to prove his claims. They are not historic practitioners of Ninjutsu. The Koryu states it has seen the documents in question and that there is no proof that Masaaki Hatsumi has any Ninjutsu lineage.

Excuse me I saw this disrespectful statement about western Practioners. It sounds as if you are presenting a challenge to Western Practioners? If so, I more than willingly accept. I will defend the honor of the West. I have trained both east and west, and find your lack of respect very distasteful.
First of all this Jinichi Kawakami guy is the curator for the Koga Ninja Museum. I think he took his roleplaying role a little too far. The only true Ninja Master was Toshitsugu Takamatsu and now Masaaki Hatsumi. All ryu ha's from the Koka or Koga region of Japan has died off. All Makimono and scrolls are now in museums. The only only master of ninjutsu with an unbroken lineage of almost a millenium is Masaaki Hatsumi
There are many families from Koga and Iga and families outside of those parts of Japan and if your really good at ninpo a shinobi would never be in the history books.
There many still out there you just don't know about them and that is the way shinobi have always been.
I would bet on there being a few lineages that have yet to surface. Just because you don't see it at your local minimall doesn't mean it has died out. And then theres Tenshin Shoden Katori Shinto Ryu. They teach ninjutsu but its behind closed doors. Ninjutsu is all about secrecy. Also you gotta consider the Nakano school. Google either and see if im right. Again, I have no doubt that some ryu haven't surfaced.
I can agree with the possiblilty of certain ryu's that may not have resurfaced...But if they were to resurface it would be the scrolls and the unbroken soke lineage that would determine whether or not the ryu is genuine. As for Katori Shinto Ryu they have said it themselves that there are aspects of ninjutsu in their Art but it is only taught to the senior students.
Dude, Mr. Kawakami himself claims to have been thaught by a man named Masazo Ishida, who he met as a child when as claimed Mr. Ishida was teaching him and other kids to fling coins.
Wait let me guess you are from the x-kans? Please look into something before you consider it false. Hatsumi has a shady lineage more so than this guy.
I like how when I ask you to consider something and not to just IGNORENTLY deny it, you respond by telling me the same thing I already know and downrate my comment. I was asking you to consider things with an open mind but I guess not. Its this additude that is a perfect example of a steriotype x-kan student. and thats what gives it such a bad name.
But to be not completely ignorent what is the information that makes you "know" that this guys a fraud?
Also if you downrate this comment then you are only further proveing my point. Bujinkan is budo taijutsu not full ninjutsu. This is kouga ryu ninjutsu. Even ask any of the numerous ninja museums in Japan, they will tell you that the Kawakami family has been in charge of kouga ryu for hundreds of years.
question. and this is not meant to insult in any way. but since masaaki trained under takamatsu and masaaki is probably the greatest martial artist alive right now (correct me if im wrong) then why do people care about the history so much. ninjutsu can be used by anyone and/or created by anyone. they did what they had to in battle. flashy or not. isnt that enough?
Hatsumi haas really watered the stuff down. Theres a whole lot more to ninjutsu than "budo taijutsu". Hatsumi whored it out to the occident. Ninjutsu is more about survival, arson, stealth, impersonation, assasination, theft, sabotage, etc,,, than it is about straight out combat. For example, they don't teach about poisons or explosives nowadays do they? Ninjutsu was never ment to be a "martial art" in the modern sense. It should not be put in the same class as karate. It covers much more.

thats a nice setup for a moving goalpost... i especially like the bald faced assertion that your art is ancient...

of course they do... otherwise you ninjers wouldnt feel you could handle a gun, like you should feel considering the lack of skill in most dojos.
