I've seen him 3x live & bought the records even when they were singles when they came out. The last time was in Paris, France in 2001. He's always different and very good. I knew some people who knew him in the '70s and tried to meet him but he was elusive. Lots of fans out there. Great artist. The French just loved him. He did a really cool Maurice Chevalier type of persona. I used to give the records as gifts to close friends. He was amazing in NYC but different on 2 consec nites!

Watching Jonathan Richman playing alone with just a guitar shows how surprisingly good a guitarist he is - he switches between muting and strumming very quickly, backs himself up very well and so forth. It's especially impressive in the "You're Crazy For Taking The Bus" video where he changes style and key quite a few times and never seems to have to concentrate on it
