  • Love it!! Reminds me of my little sparrow. He fell from his nest before he feathered and injured his foot. Unlike the others I nursed to health and released, I couldn't let this footless bird go. He is a great companion bird, eats from the table and loves his baths. I hope you are ready for a long term pet. My little boy-bird turns 11 years old this April.

  • Great vid - he seems like a cool little buddy!

I'd have mixed feelings about freeing him

Birds really don't "teach" their young how to build nests - when they fledge they toss them out of the nest and they're on their own... They're born with the knowledge they need - which is pretty darn awesome if you really think about it, ESPECIALLY given the complexity of the nests some of them build...

That said, in your home he's warm, fed and safe from predators and other dangers.

    Follow your HEART!

  • I have a song sparrow witha broken wing, I hope it lives. :(

  • Long live Pip! He needs a Pipette.

  • i fonuded four small house sparrows too. in my back yard there mom was killed by a cat so i keeped them so now they started to fly...

  • oh my gosh! i have a house sparrow too. he`s a male as well. And his name is also PIP!!!! :D how awesome is that!!! my family and i found him as a hatchling in our yard. We believe that his mother was killed by a hawk:( but we raised him and he is alive and well!:)

  • Your Pip is sooo lovely! I like it so much!!

  • aww that sparrows soo cool

  • Great vid! I have a fully fledged juvenile with an injured keel bone. I think he might become a permanent part of the family since he can't fly well. What do you feed? Do you offer grit?

  • @MtnGirl26 I feed him food for wild national birds. Plenty of sparrows around here, so there's enough food in there for him. But also a lot he doesn't eat. For his insects I feed him mealworms and a special insect food. He doesn't get that too much, but the worms he gets about 3 to 6 a day, depending on his hunger for it. He gets grit, eggfood, spray millet, bread and fruit as snacks. When he was still young I kept it at catfood and worms untill he could eat seeds himself.

    Good luck with yours.

  • He Looks so adorable! How old is he now?

  • @Rock1554 He's 1,5 years old. Black beak and in great condition. I would like to upload another video of him but he's incredibly camera shy. As soon as I point it at him he flees.

  • You nursed this little bird with love, so cool. I love this song, who is it?

  • @mollybabygirl1 Blind Pilot with 3 Rounds and a Soun (:

  • The Haunting chirping of House Sparrows -- even in films and the news is something I find amazing. House (or English) Sparrow was brought to the new world, along with starlings and Pigeons, by immigrants who wanted to have things that reminded them of places they left. House Sparrows like to live near humans and they are very smart . The big boss Sparrow next to my house even tries to chase pigeons by following them in attack mode while in flight - you have to see the evasion of the pigeon

  • Tiger is a wild Sparrow that flew on my shoulder one day and never left.

  • SWEET!!!!!

You got to see my Tiger: trying to add a Video Link ;)

  • Pip is the most beautiful sparrow whom I met, besides my Bitzy.

  • G'day from Tasmania. I just wanted to say how much we LOVED watching this amazing video. With love from Spoggy the Sparrow and me (Spoggy's Mum) - you did an AWESOME job! Well done indeed and such a cutie!!!!

  • @WishfulfillingJewel,

I am glad to hear from Spoggy,s 'Dad" and "Mom". How is the Mom doing? And how is Spoggy? I watched Spoggy's video a while back and I was touched and inspired by your dedication despite your own special needs. Wish you the best. Please tell Spoggy that his Cousins (several Hundred House Sparrows, where I live here in Canada) are well fed. In particular in the freezing cold months of winter. They know me and my car and swarm me, jostling for front seat at the dining

  • @myyou1 G'day from Tasmania - so lovely to hear from you. We all send our best wishes to all the sparrows where you are. Spoggy is very well and will soon turn 4 years old. We have a second sparrow now, and I think you would enjoy seeing his story. You can look it up here on YT, just type in "Norbu the sparrow" and you will see the special story of how he came to be living with us too. WINGWAVES from our sparrows to yours - lots of love from Spoggys Mum xxxx
