  • what about vegables

  • Comment removed

  • we are lucky buggers. thank you durianrider!!!!

  • Thank You! This was the type of video I was scouring for!

  • im confused.. can 100% raw vegans cook there veggie? and can I use homemade vinager? or 100% natural olive oil? thank you so much for making these videos :) it motivates me to stay raw.

  • @anime2diva

No no no no and no. Read 80 10 10.

  • I'm so grateful to have watched this video! Thanks Harley, you keep me inspired :)

  • (Vitamix + 15 bananas + water) x twice a day = success

  • Did you eat your potatoes raw? thank you for the info

  • Thank you so much Harley!! Awesome!!

  • Awesome!!!! Thank you!:) amazing

  • 12:36 rockkkkk

  • PEACE AND LOVE HARLEY!! NAMASTE!!! GREAT ADVICE!!

  • I have such a hard time with what to eat! I have been born and raised on a dairy/beef farm. My farmer/country "friends" look down on me because I was eating a vegan diet and any of my vegetarian/vegan friends were down on me because of where I live. I was raw vegan for 6 months in 2009 but because I wasn't eating enough I dropped over 70 pounds in that short time. Clearly I need help.

  • Thank you so much DR!!! I've read what seems like everything on raw vegan diets, and tried a few things. But thanks to this vid it's so much clearer to me. Thanks for sharing all this information with us!! You and Freelee are awesome!

  • This is a great video. I live in Winnipeg, (colder then Germany) I'm buying these bags of frozen mixed fruit, and frozen mixed berries. 2kg is about $13. Nothing Wrong with frozen fruit, eh? I'm glad you mentioned Steamed potatoes and rice but what condiments are you talking about? I use mrs. dash when I'm trying to be healthy, it's basically dried erbs got that suggestion from Joel Fuhrman.

One other thing, as much as I liked this video, you still could have book ended it with Freelee dancing:p

  • thanks! your awesome

  • Great Video!!

  • Comment removed

  • maybe we can all no jump around dance an play?!!!!:)*or are you undercarb...lol

  • Okay I have been doing this for only 2 days and my digestive system has been shit for the pass 5-6 years I thought it was normal thing..but in the just two days my digestion is great I can't wait to see what else is going to change

  • U just turned my life around sir.. I needed this.I thank you

  • Amazing genuine video, and very valuable advice, thanks DR!!

  • Good video bro!

  • Great video. I have a question ( and sorry for my bad english). You said that bananas and dates are very important in a HCRV diet because they have enough calories. I tried to eat them but I don`t like dates and bananas are nice but not my favourite ones. Is there any other fruit which contains enough calories to eat them as a base fruit in my diet? I love mangos for example, but I live in germany and can`t get my hands on them regularly. Do you have an advice for me? Thank you.

  • @Claraellenmama If you dont like bananas and dates and live in Germany then get used to rice, pasta and potatoes. Just keep it low fat, no oil, low salt and no animal.

Bananas & dates are the rice and pasta of the raw food lifestyle. Anyone trying to do raw in Europe without them is gonna be hating life very quickly due to glucose exhaustion from insufficient carbohydrate intake.

Let me know if that makes sense.

  • @durianriders how many minumum calories would you reccommend for a girl (normal weight) on potatoes and rice? would it be slightly less than same person on raw?

  • @Claraellenmama I never imagined myself eating so many bananas either but now I love them in smoothies as long as they're fully ripe because then they make better smoothies, create better energy and don't stick to your teeth or cause any bloating. There are different types of dates (buy without additives!) varying in moistness, including fresh dates (ask your greengrocer to get you some fresh as many in packets are dried or heated), so they're worth trying out when you're hungry.

  • @Claraellenmama I started out enjoying some fresh lemon juice with dates blended into banana smoothies and I still enjoy this. I like to add some tender, leafy greens as well. Others sometimes add fresh orange juice or oranges. Can you get persimmons there? I also like honeydew or piel de sapo melon blended with cucumber as well although it might not satisfy hunger for long.

  • @Claraellenmama Check out Mike Arnstein's channel (theFruitarian). He eats very few bananas and almost no dates and is a great example of someone who doesn't eat many dates and bananas and can still thrive on this lifestyle. It doesn't matter what fruit you eat as long as you get enough calories. Grapes, watermelon, oranges, papaya, berries, mangos, persimmons, etc. whatever it takes to get enough calories.

  • @IronCobra22 What do you think Mike eats when he won the Vermont this year or does his epic runs? Do you think he carries a 30lb watermelon on his back or has high cal, low weight bricks of dates with him?

Do the math bro, you need light weight, high sugar foods when you hit the long stuff or your gonna get weighed down too much. Thats why all the top runners use gels. They are basically dates with the protein and fiber removed.

  • @durianriders Well, obviously Mike eats dates when he runs marathons. I never argued with that. In his video here on Youtube called "Fruitarianism and Dates: a Message of Personal Experience" he even clearly states that he uses dates for ultra-running events, but he avoids dates for everyday eating. Mike prefers high-water fruits for everyday eating. I've also heard Mike use honey for marathons, so there is that. Not to say honey is healthy; because it's not.

  • excellent video bro. thanks for sharing!

  • Do you think it is better to mix fruits (banana, orange, melon) or eat just a lot of bananas`?

  • @Tom555123 generally eat melons alone, maybe first meal of the day. after that digests then hit the juicy oranges then load up on the bananas

  • BEST vid yet! Inspirational. Honest. Genuine. Real. Thank you!

  • DR you dah man. Thanks for another great video!

  • Also eating ripe fruit and making smothies helped me a lot on this lifestyle

  • Harley is the only guy in the raw food movement who's giving real advice. 30 bananas a day; 3000 calories.

There's plenty of people talking about raw food, superfoods etc. but will never objectively tell you what to eat on a daily basis. You can't live on superfoods that have 10 calories per kg.

  • @oineezzz true, but you can live off of meat and raw milk! btu not bananas. Do you want to be emaciated? good luck. don't be brainwashed

  • Comment removed

  • Why can Mike Arnstein eat more watermelons and oranges than Harley? Because Mike doesn't even follow 811 100%. Mike follows "grazing" diet where he eats as much as often as he wants without stuffing himself. Most animals in nature (except maybe carnivores like lions, etc.) dont stuff themselves with food then why should we stuff ourselves? Those animals eat all day long whenever hungry. I personally believe that Mike's philosophy is more natural and healthy than eating till your stomach explodes.

  • @IronCobra22 Its about doing what works for you. I cant eat as much as Mike does, I need lighter foods with higher caloric value. Its about choosing what fruits work for you to get the job done. :)

Graze or feast? I do both depending on my situation.

  • @durianriders decide to give vegan another try after seeing this vid last month. Worked heaps good, lost two belt sizes and maintained the same body weight. loads more cash over and just one unexpected side affect. alchohol doesn't get me buzzed any more.

  • @IronCobra22 what do you mean Mike doesn't follow 811 100%? what part doesn't he follow?

  • @220fj Doug Graham suggests eating only 2 or 3 times a day, stretching your stomach, and eating big meals. Watch Mike's video on grazing. He eats many times a day and never stuffs himself. Sorry, maybe I worded this wrong. Mike still eats 811, he is just using a completely different approach to eating those foods.

  • @IronCobra22 Bro, I lived with Mike! He can eat me under the table! He is the first dude Ive met that can eat more than me. I couldnt believe it. I thought there was something wrong with me. I just saw his big bowl of food and thought 'fuck! no way I could eat all that!' lol!

MA is a legend. An eating one too! :)

  • Fantastic video. Nuff said.

  • Harley, you're the best.

  • Great video, favorited.

One i can pass on to others that explains a lot.

  • you must have been eating some really bad shit to have all those problems before 2011. no wonder you felt better you must have been a right junky monkey

  • harley, this is one of your best videos, i really like all the info you speak about here, it helps me, thank you. please emphasize more on fruit combinations with fruits or any other type of food.

  • Thank u for this great video!

  • THANK YOUUUUU!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • I'm getting a crate of bananas for christmas.

  • I need to gain 6 pounds!! Help!!

  • This is one of your BEST videos - since you were very positive, concise on the content and to the point - awesome !!! just did 3 hrs this morning on the bike - had blended bananas and dates and some almonds on the bottle .. felt awesome ..then stooped by a raw juice bar for good green juice (pricey- but i like to support them).. and then a huge salad for lunhc - now munhcing on a bag of dates with a large cup of team

  • A successful recipe in a nutshell for a vegan lifestyle! Thank you for sharing!

I'm really glad to hear about potatoes, I eat them (or brown rice) with broccoli, beetrots, carrots, onions steamed all together, and this helps me a lot in my 'transition'.

    All the best!

  • Great vid man. Definitely make more like this and less YouTube trend vids. One of your most solid vids for sure!

    See you soon.

  • wow , you really are so inspirational!!!

  • Thank you for the valuable info :)

  • Favorited. Thanks.

  • great video, powerful advice

  • Question about potatoes, is it possible to smash them up and soak the toxins out. I saw this onetime at a Ray Mears episode where some kind of tribe did this to something similar to our potatoes. Maybe this way you don't have to heat them to be edible. Perhaps make like dehydrated chips out of it.

  • Yes sir Mr. Harley, I ate six kiwis this morning for breakfast. I got so fat afterwards!

  • I love the puppy in the pic with the durian fruit lol. It moves quick but I caught it lol.

  • thanks for the tips, harley! i eat mostly high carb raw but when i don't its high carb cooked and i kick myself in the ass for it. thanks for reminding me to keep it high carb vegan because i tend to forget its better than high fat low carb raw (gourmet). keep up with the videos! my and boyfriend and i love ya, mate!

  • thankyou.

  • Fantastic. Thank you for all your videos. We need more people like you.

Time for some dates then up on the bike :-)

  • harley, you say that you need to drink enough water to pee a few times a night. i feel like that would be a pretty big disturbance to my sleep as i dont usually pee during the night

(because i limit fluid intake immediately before bedtime) and i still manage to have clear urine when i wake up in the morning. so is it really necessary?

  • YOur best video yet!

  • Great vid and advice!

  • One of your best vids. A lot of good info, and being open about your journey, and how it took you years for you to perfect the diet. Thank you.

  • This video is amazing. I have added it to my favorites, and will be viewing it every morning before heading off to work, to keep me focused. I can't wait until your book comes out! You and Freelee are truly inspirational!

  • I'm trying to do a marathon in may been transitioning for 3 months now, do you think I can do it? A half one 13.1 miles on may 6th

  • Great vid potatoes n rice I wish I had have known this all along I feel like I can concur now

  • @raqueldeartis check out the starch solution by dr.mcdougall and also his website!

  • its funny how with 80/10/10'ers you can never really guess their age

  • So you went vegetarian/vegan for health reasons and not moral reasons? When did you adopt the moral reasons as well?

  • @kelhado I didnt know how bad the animals had it till I went vegan. Then it just made even more sense to make it a life long lifestyle vs some quick get healthy fad diet.

Once a sane adult knows the truth about the animal product industries be it factory farming cows or shooting wild bison or machete chopping chimps for bush meat, its only a matter of minutes before they make changes in their diet.

  • Thank you for this video! I'm doing a lot of back and forth (always vegan) in my first 6 months of this lifestyle. It's good to know that someone who is so successful had the same problems!

  • Awesome vid! Cheers!

  • This is one of my favorite vids...great info...what others think and say to me is a big problem that I need to get over if I want to be healthy.

  • Great vid!

  • THANKS A TON FOR SHARING YOUR KNOWLEDGE!

It is really amazing how in several minutes we can share our experience which took us long time to learn.

I like your accent and get a good laugh of your jokes, keep on trucking!

  • To the Klappers, maybe try Earth Balance vegan buttery spread and dill spice on your potatoes as you transition? Certainly better than opting for dairy.

  • P.S.This is Bill Kraftsow!

  • Harley, keep up the great work!

  • "High carb...better. Low carb...fuck."

    Best part.

  • LOVE video

  • 0:23 til 0:30 are the best moments of this video*************

  • Im looking to transition & wondering the condiments you use as well as im finding i crave for flavor, eg my potatoes have always had salt & butter which i know i have to let go...Probably a mental thing as well, Keep up the videos as its hard finding trustworthy sources of information here

  • @TheKlappers High calorie, low fat, raw vegan will satisfy you so your cravings are banished. If you're looking for transition foods, you can buy vegan gravy and you can find all kinds of delicious vegan recipes. Hope this helps!

  • @TheKlappers You can do a lot of cool things, try..

    - deglacing bell peppers down into a sweet sauce (you can make low fat chili sauce by deglacing chilli peppers down at the same time or adding whole) (deglacing is just sauteing or sweating down something, then usually straining it, then reducing the liquid over a medium flame to intensify flavour). add lemon to get sweet + sour chili sauce.

Try mashed potato over lentil + tomato sauce, like a shepherds pie.

  • Harley, being a member of 30bad and having watched most of your videos I don't think I've ever seen a 'before' picture of you. Do you have any?

  • Why are you friends with people who eat raw meat? That's absolutely disgusting.

  • really great video Harley! it's a great way to transition, eating rice and potatoes :) What kind of condiments did you use? i think you mentioned soysauce, but not sure? :)

  • thanks so much mate, great info...peace..

  • Damn can't believe it? I may have just found a way.. Awesome video :) I am 31 years old and trying to improve my health. I spend my 20ies partying... I am running often, but no energy.. So I am better off eating baked potateos and rice in large portions? Or do you do lots of small meal`s? I will get your book for sure.. I just really want energy for LIFE!

  • Awesome video, think this one is your absolute best! Fill up on the fruit, and veggies, then rice and potatoes as reserver. Carbs !!!

  • You should make a new video, which is an introduction to how we live. Something we can link to, when talking to friends.

  • Great video man! Thank you

  • thanks so much for sharing this. For some reason it's really reassuring that you struggled in the beginning to get it just right. I think I heard Doug Graham say something similar once. It makes it easier to keep trying to get it right... thanks!

  • Excellent. I am trying to detox due to a thyroid problem but having a difficult time with cravings. I did not know that dates was a good food source. Do you do consultations? Thanks.

  • Please donate on my site. Either way I'll still keep promoting your videos and the raw food message. Health is where it's at.

  • I'll ad this to my Foodicine page.

  • In essence it is so simple that it makes it so frustrating that (sickly) people just don't (want to) get it.

  • Tx for sharing ur story

  • Thanks Harley! Without question this 14 minute video will literally save me many years of trial and error.

  • Also, sorry I keep thinking of things.. do you juice?

  • @CANvsDK I drink juice for sure but dont make it part of my daily routine as its low cal compared to bananas and dates. Its a good back up plan though.

I havent drunk booze since 2001. Its toxic crap and fruit and fruit juice are just a better source of carbs compared to booze.

  • @durianriders hey mate, another great video, tks.

  • @durianriders thanks for the info DR it has been helpful!

  • oh what is your opinion on alcohol? im sure you dont drink but just curious

  • good stuff! it's funny how in this day in age we need to pay to receive information ie. school and paying to learn all about health (psyche!) at the Longevity Conference. "pay me and I will tell you, don't pay me and i won't"

  • @ durian.....wow...ur iron strong! Love you! Is it ok to eat potato w/ organic bbq saice and chives?

  • I got told not to eat to many banana's or I would get potassium poisoning. However now I would eat any amount of banana's, if I felt the need too. :-)

  • you're a good bitch.

  • Harley, That is one of your best videos! Ty! Very interesting, informative, and motivating. You are a great example of health and fitness. Maybe you could create a more in depth DVD for purchase, getting more specific on your running and cycling achievements, and how to begin a program while incorporating your diet. Besides, you have already given a lot of complimentary information. You make it sound so easy and fun. I'd like to blow away my boyfriend who believes he's got all the answers!

  • THIS is the video I needed, Ive always put raw over 80/10/10, this has just now changed my life

  • What are your thoughts on Paul Nison?

  • @petekrusetunes I think Paul Nison is a nice guy and my first book I read on raw living was his book 'raw life'. I learned about Durian & Doug Graham from that book. I just wish it had more emphasis on caloric carb sufficiency.

Im writing my book at the moment. Will be out very soon.

  • @durianriders shit. awesome man, lol

  • Awesome man

  • Thank you

  • Thank you

  • Did you ever go pescatarian before you went vegan?

  • The single most informative video to date. As a relative newb to 801010, this should be required viewing. Thanks!

  • Thank you!

  • Yo Harley, one of your BEST vids man! Don't get me wrong, nearly all of your vids are inspiring and on point, but this one had that extra somethin' to it...thanks bro! Maybe you're right, what it took you years to learn, you're droppin' for us in a few minutes...no worries mate...kindness like that always comes back to ya...peace!

  • Thankyou!!!

  • I loved this video Harley, It was really helpful. Thank you

  • Speaking for myself your videos have changed my life...thank you for them, Merry Christmas!

  • This is one of your best videos Thank YOU!!!!

  • Yeah.....this one is a keeper.

  • This is your BEST VIDEO YET!!! Excellent stuff and thanks for sharing!

  • Awesome Video. Thanks Harley!

  • why does going to bed late hurt you if you still get all the sleep you need? my natural way is to stay up late and get up late.

  • how many calories are enough calories??

  • x y zed.. so aussie..

  • gr8 vid interesting how david wolfe is sending ppl over the hill and thru the woods.. and pushing crackcow.. karma is a bitch.. perhaps david will suffer some bad health for knowingly hurting others.

  • I've been using organic hemp protein powder just to make sure I'm getting my essential amino acids since my days are pretty busy. I usually blend it in with bananas, berries, and water. I feel good after this. What do you think of hemp protein? I also have been eating rice, and some corn products, but notice I feel like shit afterwards... any idea why?

  • @b0ondockz Many people feel unwell after cooked food. A LFRV diet is best and potatoes are likely the second best carb. If you want to eat cooked food, you could eat a lot of dark leafy greens like kale with your meals to help you feel your best. Kale is actually really nice raw with cooked carbs. Cucumber-fruit juice is hydrating/energising with cooked carbs.

  • Love it bro!

  • The hardest part for me is telling everyone who questions me to fuck off.

  • Thanks Harley, you saved me from buying one of Dan McDonalds 20 videos..lol

  • LOVED this video. Thank you for sharing your journey.

  • I am a richer man today , thanks for the knowledge Harley :)

  • Love all your metaphors. Good video! Funny and informative! :)

  • Harley, it's time for some Zzzz so I'm looking forward to watching this in the morning.. I couldn't resist watching the first 2 mins and I just have to say you look really cute :-)

  • @natureasintended he is cute as hell isnt he

  • What is your opinion on vegan bodybuilding? What would be your approach raw and non raw vegan?

  • great vid!

  • how were you eating your potatoes and rice??

  • @misseptember I was great eating potatoes and rice. I kept it low fat and low salt and vegan. I just find fruit works better for me.

  • @durianriders i like potatoes but they take like an hour to bake which is okay because you can get like 8 at a time. however i found if I wanted to store them in the fridge for the next day they go bad, making me having to wait an hour everytime i want to have them. How did you do it?

  • @jbrah69 Sliced, steamed potatoes cook quickly (15 - 20 min) and boiled potatoes cook faster than baked.

  • Thanks Harley! I've been trying to go raw/vegan for a while and always revert back to the standard American diet. Rice, oatmeal and potatoes? Plus, lots of fruit? I think I can finally make this vegan lifestyle work for me. I may not be able to do 100% raw but this is definitely a step in the right direction. My main goal is fat loss. You're the man! Keep up the great work.

  • @javashred Plenty of banana smoothies will fill you up. Harley says cooked carbs are fine as a second best to LFRV.

  • you're awesome dude

  • Great video, thanks for sharing that, got a lot out of that bro, payin it forward brings back blessings, much love to ya, peace .

  • you look good bro!

  • Thank You!

  • Thank you Harley

  • This is you're best video Harley! hope it helps many people :)

  • thanks FOR IT ALL Cathy Starr *

you will get it back 10 fold thanks --

    XXOXOOXOXOXOXOXOXOOXOXOXOXO

  • Damn, nice spot. Makes me want to go exploring.

  • @edstar83 Thats why I never exercise. Im just too busy exploring!

Carb strong to explore long. :)

  • @durianriders Just like your dong. :D
