Some of this episode's best lines discussed or described Teensy and Weensy. Cousin Ernie says, "They are as close as two peas in a pod . . . well, two watermelons in a patch." At another point, Ernie relates what it was like asking Teensy to marry him, "So I took her aside and asked her to marry me. She said no. Turned out to be Weensy, and she can't stand the sight of me."
i don't want to sound disrespectful or anything but did anybody else think "porky pig" when they saw them? Especially with those black heels that made their feet look like black hooves? haha.
I love that Marilyn commented on this and told us which twin she played on the show. I also love this song, because I just always crack up at Teensy randomly clapping her hands during the chorus.
hi Marilyn, I loved this clip!!!! A part of me almost felt sorry for you girls that Ricky didn't take you with him to Hollywood. I'll bet it was great working with Lucille Ball!!!! Was it equally nice working with Desi, Vivian and William????
This is the best show that has ever graced American TV! It was funny, well-written, wholesome fun without all of the politically correct, "leftist" pedantic garbage that people like Norman Lear made popular back in the 70's.
I've just now read the comments further...only to learn that Marilyn has passed on as well. As I write this I am very sad. I once had an autographed picture of them but I lost it in when I moved from the west coast. I always thought of writing to Marilyn to ask her for another one...but I never did. I now regret that terribly. Rest in peace Marilyn and Roz-I love you both.
I've had the pleasure of meeting the Borden twins! Roz died several years ago, but I believe Marilyn is still with us. They were both very kind to me when I met them.
I sincerely hope the You Tube channel and the website of The Borden Twins will be preserved and maintained for posterity, perhaps with the assistance & sanction of the Twins' sister Barbara, children, and/or nephews & nieces..
I never realized the Twins' career lasted so long after their legendary appearances on that episode of "I Love Lucy."
But even if were not the case, just for that contribution alone, a significant part of our cultural history.
R.I.P. Marilyn (1932-2009) & Roz (1932-2003) Borden; a/k/a "The Borden Twins"
And thanks to their talents and the talents of Desi Arnaz and Desilu, who innovated the concept of preserving episodic TV on film, this performance will last as long as there remains people interested in the show & in good television comedy.
And sometimes when you watch an old Western movie or TV show, there will be a sound effect of a bullet ricocheting off a rock or some object in the background, after a gunshot is fired.
As regards this song, I guess a more contemporary term would be "rebound romance," not wishing to be the object of someone's pursuit after that person has just broken up with or "bounced off" another, and then on to another, etc.
In the recording by Teresa Brewer, (a smash hit in late 1953), there's a line: "Then like a rifle bullet, you began to ricochet". It means that a bullet "bounces" off something, and is deflected; and continues its path. It "ricochets". Just like the unfaithful lover in the song.
Oh, I saw you and your sister at the Lucy Fest in Jamestown, NY a few years back, and you were both wonderfully gracious and fun to see! I'm so glad you're both doing well and still enjoying this thing we call life! Please know that you have lots of fans who wish you many more years of health and happiness. God Bless!
This was such a great episode! You two were hilarious as Teensy and Weensy! Fine job by both of you, and how lucky you were to work on the world's greatest television show! Hello to you both and thanks for the smiles! :D
Wow! I'm shocked!...speechless! I can't believe that you were actually there with Vivian, Bill, and especially Desi and Lucy! It must have been a very memorable experience! I would have loved to meet them. You are quite a dancer...it was cute =)
I'm Marilyn of the Borden Twins and I was "Teensy" on the show. What a pleasure it was to work with Lucy. She was a consummate professional. This TV show was the highlight of our TV career. We loved working with Lucy and doing this episode.
