  • WOAH!! I'm kind of new to liking Redd Kross so I haven't listend to very many of there songs and I was stunded when Steve started to sing :D

  • I kept going to Redd Kross shows in the late 80's, and kept being amazed that they hadn't hit it big! Then Neurotica came out, and I was sure that I would never get to see them again... they'd be too big, etc. But it didn't happen, and I am totally baffled how Neurotica didn't break them into the mainstream. Such a great album!

  • This band totally ruled met Steve at SXSW he was so cool ...they deserved more success but all have enjoyed a career in music and are still going check out OFF!

  • I was at this show. Always thought Redd Kross would hit it huge. At the time, in L.A., they were every bit as popular as the Chili Peppers, Jane's Addiction, and G & R.. all of who went on to mega-stardom. Somehow RK never took off... Too bad.. Great band

  • @crankenstyne Shame ay? In my humble opinion, I think that the Third Eye album blew it for them. They had all the buzz and momentum and it should have been a huge record, but it was so polished and overproduced that it barely sounded like the same band that recorded Neurotica. Now if they'd released Phaseshifter in 1990 instead, things would have been different. To me, that's Redd Kross's masterpiece but by the time they got round to releasing that, it was too late and they'd missed the boat.

  • Loved this period of Redd Kross the best and saw them on that tour when they played Philly. They did a version of the theme from Good Times which they stared out kinda slow and by the time I figured out what they were doing it blew up really cool into pandemonium! Awesome band! : )>

  • So great to see the respectful posts here. I saw Red Kross twice on the "Neurotica" tour, once for free at UCLA and once at the Whisky with Frightwig opening--one of the greatest shows ever. Glad to hear Robert Hecker is still expanding minds albeit in a new way--he was an amazing guitarist. Saw him do a solo show circa '88 at the Llasa Club in Hollywood--Steve McDonald sat right next to me!

  • "Uh, Mr. Hecker? That information is totally fascinating and all, but... WHEN IS A NEW REDD KROSS ALBUM GOING TO COME OUT?!"

  • man, you LA science kids don't kmow how lucky you are - wish I'd had him, instead of my science teacher (a Marist Brother in a dress with a crucufix and a big stick)

But this guitar lesson video (above) is the next best thing

  • 1987 great year for rock

  • my science teacher 2! He is nice!!!!!!!! Yeah

  • Well, pay attention, do your homework, and he might teach you some of his dazzling guitar techniques - because he's a genius!

( I wish one of you science kids would ask him about his gravity-defying stage moves - check the clip at about 00:50 seconds in)

  • Hey science kids and fans... he is married to a beautiful woman and has great kids... so be respectful. But yeah he rocks...

  • Damn straight.

Any less-than-respectful comments won't last long here.

  • if you had a time machine, would you go anywhere else?

  • Robert Hecker is my science teacher

  • robert hecker is my science teacher!!! no joker. he totally rocks!!!! NO JOKE. the hecker from this band!

  • I believe you! You must be in the same science class as rockinapillow (below) - all I can say is you guys are the luckiest science students, bar none - so pay attention!

  • WOO >:O HECKER IS MY SCIENCE TEACHER :D (no joke ) (the SAME hecker in that band is my science teacher) NO JOKE SERIOS THE COOLIST SCIENCE TEACHER THERE IS ask me if u really wanna know

  • ah man, that's so cool - ask him a question for me: how did he do all that flying around the stage? was he rigged up in a harness or something? it's not obvious, but occasionally he seems to defy gravity

  • yea, it was a great album.. i saw them on this tour in s.f. at the fillmore, really cool poster too. i LOVE it when hecker does paul stanley! that's truly brilliant.

  • I am so glad I got to see them on the Neurotica tour. One of my fave bands of all time!

  • The Replacements and R.E.M. received so much hype in 1987 that many people didn't notice that Neurotica was one of the best albums of that year! Thanks for sharing!

  • Roy looks a bit too much like Cozy Powell here.

    And Cozy is dead!

    Hmmmmm..........

  • yey. This is great. Wheres the full dvd release of this show. We need it to be.

  • God they were AMAZING!!!

I saw them in 5 states-never ceased to be mind blowing

  • Was this the Halloween show??

  • I'm the headbanger in the black hat and jean jacket. People used to come up to me at shows and say they had seen me on French TV. Now I finally get to see what they saw, twenty years later, yikes! I still love this music.

  • One of the greatest songs from one of the greatest rawk bands on the face of. Stellar stuff!
