i think she has great choreographies and she encourages people to adapt them to their own feeling. i dont like her expression when she dances but thats her style, no one tells you to copy it. she is a great teacher but i see that there are other artist who have better feeling or just look better in my opinion... i take technique from Jillina and feeling or fluency from other artists... and add my twist to it...thats what youre supposed to fo anyway...

She's not just shaking her belly, she's performing one of the oldest forms of dance which takes years of dedication to learn to do with the ease that she makes it seem. As for the musicians, they too are perfoming music that sounds as if there are many different types of drums in this piece when in fact it's only two artists doing the music. The musical connection between the dancer and her musicians is shown beautifuly in this piece. Only an ignorant fool would see this in such a negative way.

i agree. she doesnt have much control of her isolations nor of her hips when comparing her to other professional dancers like sadie, dina, suheir zaki, etc. . . . . im not captivated by her dancing its just sort of amateurish!

Some of those moves just look plain strenuous. She's very skilled. She's an entertainer, before a dancer, in my opinion. It's not just the dance, it's a slow seduction, painful for the man who's there watching her. ^^
The drummers are supposed to look interested, encouraging, or amazed. They're pare tf the show, too. The interplay between them is part of the live performance. They are usually friends offstage. A drummer I once worked with was the same way, and we were like brother and sister offstage.

Is there any need to be so nasty? You are entitled to your opinion, and honestly, she is not always my favorite either. If you wish to critique her dancing, go ahead by all means. But why make mean comments about looks,etc.
First off belly dancing has nothing to do with looks. It only deals with talent/skill. I personally didn't like this dance, but just because this wasn't good doesn't mean that all her other dances are either. She's got skill and knows what she's doing. It may not be the style that you prefer, but you have NO ACTUAL reason to say all those things. If you're going to be a real critique, try to ACTUALLY critique something.

Jillina perfoms regularly in Los Angeles. She makes no secret that she is not a traditional Middle Eastern belly dancer. Anyone from the Middle East can see that by looking at her mannerisms and the western movements she incorporates into her dance. Her background (per her own website) is modern dance, jazz and hip-hop. She has taken belly dancing and given it an American flavor that some like. Many "purists" (including me) don't care for it, but she is definitely crossing some boundaries.
Drummers great, agreed that Jillina is annoying. She has some nice shimmies & moves, but overall not a really great bellydancer. Way too stiff and not fluid. The costume is horrible. She has a nice figure but her face is hard to look at it, a bad nose job. The stringy hair extensions are ugly too.
maybe it's just your mind that is dirty because you can't call someone dirty if you don't what their like. So, from now on when you call someone dirty, you should think if your just saying that to yourself.

You were obviously here before that since you had a post here that I replied to. Again, you do not have to like the dancer. Note I did not reply to the users who said they liked Bozenka better because that's their personal preference. Each dancer has something unique to bring to the dance. I had the opportunity to go to a live BDSS performance in October, choreographed by Jillina. It was absolutely amazing. My problem is with your choice of words. "Dirty" is uncalled for.
Well, you know what they say about opinions. I really hope you're not a bellydancer. You'd be a disgrace to us all. Or did you audition for the BDSS and were rejected & want to get back at Jillina?
A real bellydancer would never call another dancer "dirty." We respect our art form and are working hard to correct misinformation and stereotypes. If you call yourself a bellydancer, then your "opinion" must be based in jealousy.
Her face? What is your problem? She is beautiful and a highly professional dancer. As someone else has said, put on MTV or VH-1 - that's where your smut is. The Bellydance Community is working very hard to educate the public and present our dance as the art form that it is - but we don't expect to reach those as ignorant as you are.

Jillina is so butt ugly with a bad nose job and hair extensions that look so face. Her dancing is boring and predictable with no feeling.

Is there any need to be so nasty? You are entitled to your opinion, and honestly, she is not always my favorite either. If you wish to critique her dancing, go ahead by all means. But why make mean comments about looks,etc.

First off belly dancing has nothing to do with looks. It only deals with talent/skill. I personally didn't like this dance, but just because this wasn't good doesn't mean that all her other dances are either. She's got skill and knows what she's doing. It may not be the style that you prefer, but you have NO ACTUAL reason to say all those things. If you're going to be a real critique, try to ACTUALLY critique something.

here costum is not nice.she hase some nice shimmies but overall i cant say she is that great.i just think that its not great to make bellydance and put other stuff in it.i love the real egyptian style.

of cours the musicians make the belly dancers look good, what kind of a comment is this. the whole idea of belly dancing branched from this amazing music.... have u ever seen anyone belly dancing to waltz or jitterbug music? belly dancers and musicians work together .... just like a hip hop dancer would luk rediculouse dancing to i dont know the national anthem of britain!

How could dancers not take offense to this comment? Of course the musicians are wonderful, and so is the dancer. Both spend many years refining their technique. Working TOGETHER is the goal, yes? THAT is what makes it good, not someone making someone else look good. Of course I know what you are talking about, but this is called "working together", not being the ones to make dancers look good. Get off your ego please.

Jillina perfoms regularly in Los Angeles. She makes no secret that she is not a traditional Middle Eastern belly dancer. Anyone from the Middle East can see that by looking at her mannerisms and the western movements she incorporates into her dance. Her background (per her own website) is modern dance, jazz and hip-hop. She has taken belly dancing and given it an American flavor that some like. Many "purists" (including me) don't care for it, but she is definitely crossing some boundaries.

Drummers great, agreed that Jillina is annoying. She has some nice shimmies & moves, but overall not a really great bellydancer. Way too stiff and not fluid. The costume is horrible. She has a nice figure but her face is hard to look at it, a bad nose job. The stringy hair extensions are ugly too.

You were obviously here before that since you had a post here that I replied to. Again, you do not have to like the dancer. Note I did not reply to the users who said they liked Bozenka better because that's their personal preference. Each dancer has something unique to bring to the dance. I had the opportunity to go to a live BDSS performance in October, choreographed by Jillina. It was absolutely amazing. My problem is with your choice of words. "Dirty" is uncalled for.

A real bellydancer would never call another dancer "dirty." We respect our art form and are working hard to correct misinformation and stereotypes. If you call yourself a bellydancer, then your "opinion" must be based in jealousy.

Her face? What is your problem? She is beautiful and a highly professional dancer. As someone else has said, put on MTV or VH-1 - that's where your smut is. The Bellydance Community is working very hard to educate the public and present our dance as the art form that it is - but we don't expect to reach those as ignorant as you are.
