  • Why is there a video of a dog in the suggestions?

  • Thank you for the memories!

    Do Wop Rich

  • What a great memory.. I fell in love with this one in my early teens playing on Chattanooga Radio I ordered a 45 of it, this was my first 45 of many...

  • What a great talent, so easy going and easy to listen to, has he left us for the opry in the sky???? sad if he has.

  • I can still see him in a rockin roll movie I recorded long long ago! He was the most amazing man. Beautiful to look at & a voice that could make a woman swoon. I miss him. And yes he was underrated. The timber of his voice just skids along your bones.

  • The voice. beautiful. I remember my dad playing songs like this early morning wen the skies are turning blue, i was around 12 yrs old. Thanks to my dad at 21 i'm very appreciative of artist like Ferlin husky.

  • beautiful voice . rip Ferling good old days

  • He was great till the end!!

  • I love this song. They don't make them like this man anymore! He is missed already!

  • The star of any stage he stepped on. One of the pure greats of country music. Heaven is full of the legends and whilest we miss them here on earth, their music and legacies will live on in us the true fans of real country music. It was a long time coming and well deserved when they put Mr. Husky in the hall of fame where he has ALWAYS belonged.

  • R.I.P. Ferlin Husky

  • I can't believe that Ferlin's really "gone." What a legend... and his death didn't even make the news, down here in Florida anyway.

  • @ChurchPianistFL As with many other artists from Bakersfield, I feel Nashville has been slow to recognise Any Country artist thats not right under their nose. Jean Shepard was only elected THIS year, where have they been looking? I think they are very short sighted and uneven in their selections, missing many deserving ones and recognising others too early. Does anyone know what the criterier is for selection, please?

  • Good to see this! Thanks.

Is this a part of a whole show by Husky?

If so I'd like to have it on dvd some time.

  • one of the most humble country stars of all time.......his music stars with humility too..

  • Hard to say Goodbye to Ferlin Husky. You will be missed dearly.

  • I loved him!! Thank you BOBFORDD for keeping his music alive, phyllis..

  • What a wonderful performance of that great song.It shows you what a fine singer Husky was right to the end. That is a very difficult song for anyone to perform, let alone a man that age.But Ferlin was the real deal.

God Bless,Ferlin! And thanks for leaving behind those gorgeous songs, they'll live forever.

  • WOW! WOW! WOW! What a still fantastic voice. This song is like the Movie "Gone With The Wind". Should never be recorded by remade. Thanks for the post.

  • i like this song

  • Ferlin had a sense of humor, and rankled the hypocritical Grand Ol' Opry types.

He was inducted into the Hall of Fame just this year, 2010.

I wish I could get some of his records that he recorded under the name of Simon Crum.

  • I think when this hit became famous, was when he went from Terry Preston back to Ferlin Husky. Loved him then Love him still. I am so glad he has been inducted into the Country Music Hall of Fame, while he is still her to enjoy the honor!!!

  • Well, ya can say, Ferlin and myself , went to seperate schools together, him an I were in the same generation, Therefore, I had the pleasure of listening to his wonderful voice , through the earlier years of my life, only to be enriched , through the golden years of his life,,,,,,,,,,His song '' GONE'' has to be rated, in his top 5...

  • I always loved to hear Ferlin sing this song. It was one of his best. Linda

  • sounds just like 1959!

  • Ferlin is one of the greatest country singers who ever lived and I'm priveledged to have contact with him and Miss Leona. He's a true gentleman, and a good christian man. NOBODY can sing GONE like Ferlin! Modern singers may sing it, but it'll never match his version! Congrats to Ferlin on the Hall induction. IT'S ABOUT TIME!

  • CONGRADULATIONS!!!!!!!! You finally made it into the Country Music Hall of Fame in 2011!!!! It was only a matter of time!!!

All the best - and thanks for the wonderful memories!!!

  • Great to hear this again. Loved this song.

  • Sure takes me back. He sure is hangin in there and is just as good now as then. Thanks for posting this.

  • Gone and Wings of Dove are my favorites by Ferlin. His was one of the early cross-overs from country to Top-40. One of the best.

  • i saw him in branson about 15 years ago he was 72 then. looks like he does in this video

  • It might have been made 1956 or 1955 not quite sure ,I love this song

  • Awesome!!!!!

  • Give me Joey Heatherton's version (and her!) any day!!!

  • My father went to high school in Frank Clay, Missouri and graduated with Ferlin. My father passed 5 yrs ago at age 83. I'm amazed Ferlin is still among us.

  • yes he is living in missouri

  • When was this recorded? Is he still living??

  • I don't know when this was recorded. According to Wikipedia indicates he is still alive.

  • The song was written at the Bostonia Ballroom in El Cajon California by Smokey Rogers. He tried to record it but no one wanted it. Smokey gave the song to Ferlin Husky who was using another name at the time. The rest is history

  • I have met Ferlin Huskey. He is the cousin of a very good friend of mine. My favorite somg of his is "On the wWngs of a Dove" He is a man who stands up for what he believes and won't play ball with the Nashville elite's greed.

  • On the wings of a snow white dove. Great song

  • One of the most underated singers that needs to be in the Country Music Hall of Fame but the powers that be wont make it happen while Ferlin is still around to enjoy it.

  • @jbash1970 he was inducted in 2010 along with Billy Sherrill (producer and songwriter, the man responsible for giving us Miss Tammy Wynette) , Jerry Reid, Jimmy Dean and Don Williams

  • @jbash1970 I agree with you on that...man he had such a great voice ...and he was a real entertainer...he was funny too...and he was hansome!

  • @jbash1970 Thought he was in the Hall of Fame? You know creditted for the sound of Nashville. IDK.

  • @OriginalBurton Ferlin made it into the Hall of Fame before he passed away. He was great and I try to watch everything on you tube and other places he has done. There are very few Country Music singers today this good, what a talent.

  • You still have Ferlin..

  • to be his age and still have the voice he has...hope he never stops singling...Frankie Ford did my next favorite version recorded in the late fifties..

  • Always loved this song....check out his earlier version recorded under the name Terry Preston, too! Amazing. God bless you, Ferlin, you still bring joy to the younger generation (i am 24).

  • This has been one of my favorite songs since I first heard it back in the day as they say.

  • I am related to Ferlin Huskey through my Dad's 2 brothers, they married two sisters Aunt Faye and Aunt Ruth, whose mother is a Huskey and Ferlin was related to her.I love hearing Ferlin sing and don't think he made enough records, wish he'd made more. Gosh, now that is all said, "Happy Golden Years to you Ferlin,at least that is what these are suppose to be, always have enjoyed hearing you sing." I have written poetry, love to have Ferlin put one in a song to music, with him singing it :-)

  • Ferlin Huskeys "Slow Down Brother" from -56 - absolutely one of my rockabilly favourites!!!!

  • Ferlin you still sing Gone very good and love to see you some day soon. Live close to you to and I feel close to you as long as I am old I have heard about some of your childhood days. I am 60 now and was born on Sept. 4th 1947. I had polio when I was 7. So stay healthy ok with my love I send.
